Really loved the location, the bathroom was massive and had useful items such as cotton rounds and ear buds. Appreciated the darker make up flannel so no concerns about reuining the sparkling white ones. Plugs by bedside and 2 huge comfy lounge chairs in the rooms.

No parking- the front sign on the front of the house says car parking but no where to be found and only when in the room does it say where to park in the welcome booklet (a pay and display located near by) which was too late by the time we got there as we had to park elsewhere. I had called the b and b a few times to ask where to park and no answer.

When we arrived, the owner greeted us and explained that there had been an issue with the room we had booked - an upgrade was not going to plan - she was very apologetic and let us know that the room we had still had a sea view and said that she would give us a small refund and throw in breakfast too! The room was just fine! Lovely and clean, great view, toiletries, coffee, very quiet and very comfortable! Breakfast was lovely too! We would have no issue with booking again!

Nothing not to like!

The Helmsman is a lovely property on the sea front. We had beautiful sea views from our spacious bedroom window. The room was spotlessly clean with a very comfy bed and lovely new ensuite. The breakfast was plentiful and tasty. The property is just round the corner from many shops, cafés and eating places.

The only negative was the lack of parking, but a pay and display is just round the corner at the clinic which suited us fine.

Warm and welcoming from the start. Fresh and light with a nice and stress free atmosphere. Room was big, airy and a comfortable bed. The view was perfect to sit in front off and complete my days work and then to enjoy an Nespreso coffee from the machine in the room. The shower is a great size and plenty of hot water with excellent pressure.

Unfortunately (out of owners control) there were roads works so finding parking was a bit tricky. As for the noise it soon quietened down and only the sea could be heard after 10pm.

Breakfast was freshly cooked and served at the table. We really enjoyed it!

We booked a room with sea view, but sadly the view was obstructed by the scaffolding the facade was in. We were not warned about this beforehand. During our stay one of the chair legs in the seating area broke so I took a tumble, our hostess was apologetic about this occurrence.

Lovely room. Fantastic little comfy seat area at the gorgeous bay window. Was perfect spot to people watch and relax. In the evening you could hear the waves crashing against the beach and in the comfort of the room! Perfect!

The parking was a slight inconvenience. The nearest carpark was full and no street parking for about half hour or so but once parked we didn't need to move again so that was all good in the end. Just worth a mention.

Lovely spacious room with a beautiful sea view - definitely worth paying the extra for the view. The extra single bed in the room was a bonus and meant that my daughter & I didn't have to share a bed! Good choice of complimentary refreshments in the room too. Reception was very welcoming and accommodating. There were good choices for the breakfast. I really enjoyed my full English option and my daughter was pleased with the vegetarian breakfast. I would most definitely stay here again when visiting Aberystwyth.

Coffee was a little lukewarm especially if you like extra milk in it.

Best sea-view room we've ever had (first floor, family sea-view room). Exceeded expectations. Perfect location as everything (food/sights) within a 10-minute walk. Inclusion of breakfast worth it. Helpful communication pre-arrival and during the stay. You are made to feel welcome throughout. Will recommend to others and hope to return again

Floorboards squeak, so not ideal for light sleepers. Windows fog up easily - to be remedied with regular use of squeegee. But overall, these are minor setbacks compared to the otherwise perfect stay

Breakfast was great. I’m quite a big eater and it was enough for me. Lovely service too. Felt very welcome. Owner genuinely interested in our visit. Room was lovely. Bathroom exceptionally good. The location is awesome. Next time I’d ask for a sea view room. Literally right on the sea front.

The only thing I would ask is “is there parking?” I believe there is but nothing was communicated beforehand and I ended up parking on a nearby street as I wasn’t sure.

Surprisingly big room, and we loved the view across the sea from the window. The King Size bed was very comfortable, and the on suite bathroom was good. Enjoyed a yummy cooked breakfast in the morning, so all in all, a good B&B for the money.

Parking is limited (although we did manage to park outside from 4pm until 11am the next day on the 2hr parking limit zone)
