We enjoyed everything about this place. It's an expressive building to start with and we were made very welcome from the start. The rooms were a really good size and very clean and comfortable. The breakfast was incredible with an added bonus of being able to get a bag to take some of the cakes with you. We honestly left this place saying we would definitely come back and stay here again. It's possibly a bit more expensive than some other places in the area but it really does feel worth the money. There is no car park however the road at the side is very quiet and plenty of room to park. We look forward to coming back here again in the future.

We loved everything

Helen is a wonderful host and coordinates everything at The Auld Kirk. The breakfast is amongst the best we have had particularly with freshly baked scones, cakes and pancakes at our table every morning. The breakfast is cooked freshly to order and is served up lovely and hot to your table by the very efficient Lisa. Some nice touches to the service were a couple of glasses of local whiskey in our room when we arrived and as it was my birthday; a small bottle of prosecco left in our room on the day. Great tips from Helen about the surrounding area including restaurants and local wildlife. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Auld Kirk

Very difficult to fault much only to say that a little more wardrobe space would have been nice given our 4 night stay but fine if your staying for a couple of nights

It's a great place to stay. Great location.

Unfortunately one of the owners was rude to one of my guests, singled her out because of the colour of her hair which upset her immensely. This was unprofessional,Rude, disrespectful. On this basis our party will not be returning.

The hosts Helen and Kevin were very friendly and welcoming and Helen had great advice on the local area. The Auld Kirk is absolutely spotless and beautiful, it really has such a nice feel. Our room was beautifully decorated and comfortable it had everything we needed and the extra personal touches were a lovely surprise. Breakfast is fantastic and definitely one of the best I have had you taste the quality of the food. It has its own bar with a beautiful comfortable lounge area. The staff are lovely and work hard to make it feel so special, thanks.

Everything was perfect, thanks.

We stopped by The Auld Kirk on our way from Inverness to Perth and did enjoy our stay a lot. The whole building is clean and well furnished with love for details. The beds are comfortable and the nights quiet. Breakfast is being served rich and tasty. They won a price for the most unique B&B twice and we think it is well deserved as it is really an unique experience and worth every penny. You should definitively talk to the owners on arrival who will give you good insider information on local attractions. Only this way we were able to picnic with three stags (one of which was a fourteen-ender!) just 15m away. Oh, and make sure you enjoy your complimentary welcome gift to get a taste of localness :)

Quirky, beautifully decorated hotel. Features of old church kept which we liked. Room we had was comfortable and beautifully presented. Breakfast was lovely and the situation was perfect for walking / driving the short distance into Ballater. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The free car parking was not provided by the Auld Kirk, but there is free parking right outside on the road which was good. We had a really good night's stay and would definitely recommend.

The shower was rather small but understandable given the size of the bathroom. No other negative comments. We had a lovely stay.

We visited the Auld Kirk as part of a tour of the Highlands. It was by far and away the best place we stayed (and there was nothing much wrong with our other stays) Kevin gave us a very warm welcome on arrival and was very helpful in providing information on where to eat and what to do. The breakfast next day was absolutely outstanding. The accommodation itself is very impressive, residing as it does in a historic church. The room was very well appointed and there were lots of nice little touches. All in all a memorable stay with friendly hosts - we wish we could have stayed longer & hope to return one day.

It was all good

Everything... the huge efforts the proprietors have put in to make this venue amazing is obvious. Attention to detail second to none. Lovely property, rooms and bathrooms perfectly decorated and spotless. Warm welcome on arrival and goodies in the room. Great bed! Breakfast offerings beautiful and of high quality.

If I have to mention a negative, the only thing I could possibly say is that you could hear voices from next room in bathroom and sound from breakfast room. However, nature of the building and location of our particular room likely made this impossible to avoid. Did not affect our amazing stay.

It was a good location, the Owner - Helen was very welcoming and informative, and good with local knowledge. Breakfast was included and good valve with lots of choices, both hot and cold. We were encouraged to take the food left on our table. We are a family group of 8 travelling together, and all had comfortable and suitable rooms. We are travelling in a large transit van and parking was available outside the property. We would highly recommend staying here.

Our rooms were up a flight of stairs so all bags had to be carried up.
