The rooms were modern and nicely decorated, lovely walk in shower, plenty of hot water.
It was dog friendly, we don’t have dogs, I don’t like sharing my space with dogs, particularly when dining.

From the moment we arrived the welcome was lovely. Took to our room which was gorgeous, so lovely to see our dogs were cater for with towels blankets and treats first time ever on our holiday with the dogs. Breakfast was great you choose what you wanted the night before so everything is cook fresh when you sit down. Dogs was welcomed at all meals even had their own dog station with treats and water. We decided to eat every night the food was excellent and drinks was well priced. Every staff from morning breakfast to cleaners and bar staff was very welcoming. We were so impressed we have booked up for next year.

This was a group of 10 old friends who gather annually to explore a new area together. We found the hotel ideally placed in the town centre but near the front. and very welcoming. It was busy with football [Euros} and had a good atmosphere. We dined in twice and were very well satisfied with the food and service. Breakfast was included and also very good. The bar area was busy at most times we saw it, so clearly it's a popular spot but not too noisy. Our 5 rooms varied from absolutely excellent to good enough in our case. We had the only twin room [for lack of choice,] but it was well equipped with a really good though small bathroom. The doubles we visited were excellent to very good indeed. Lovely items of furniture and décor were scattered all over. It's a fun place to stay, with amazingly good staff, great food and good car parking arrangements at £5 for 24hrs. The railway station is also close to the hotel for arrivals or trips out.
No complaints!

All staff were friendly, approachable and accommodating. The room was spotless, very well presented and the bed was comfortable. Plenty of storage and ample tea/coffee/milk. We have in the past felt excluded when staying in dog friendly hotels with our dog but The Royal made us feel very welcome and at home. The extra touches such as dog blanket and towel in the room were very nice - we always pack more for the dog than ourselves, so this saved us taking more than we needed. We also enjoyed the breakfast and evening meals at the hotel, plenty of choice and delicious. Parking was easy at a local car park for £5 per day, payable at the hotel, and only a 3 minute walk away. Thank you for a lovely stay!

Our now annual trip to Barmouth, and we wouldn't want to stay anywhere else. The staff are excellent and extremely friendly. Nothing is too much trouble. The food is great, and we particularly like the breakfast. All good size portions well cooked. Nice bars with good selection of drinks and all at very reasonable prices. Our rooms were immaculate again. We all love the rooms we stay in. Lovely bathroom with proper sized shower. Nice selection of beverages in the room and a good sized TV if you want to use it. We're already planning next year's trip and will probably stay a little bit longer next time too!
That we have to leave and return to normal lives! Keep up the great work. :)

The hardworking staff made our stay at The Royal wonderful. No request was too much trouble for them. They were polite, friendly and cheerful. The breakfast was filling, beautifully cooked, hot and presented nicely on the plate. Good sized portions with plenty of choice to choose from.
We booked a double room with a lovely bay window, which when we arrived was on the second floor. Two flights of stairs to get to the room was undoable due to my disability and a longer than usual drive to Barmouth. The room was swapped to a much much smaller room with limited space. This was £11 cheaper per night. Not reimbursed.

I love it when somewhere goes way beyond my expectations, from the staff who checked me and took my luggage up to the room, made sure the room was warm enough, explained the under floor heating in the bathroom and ordering breakfast the evening before (which never bothers me at all) they could not have been more helpful and friendly. The room was really nice, such a comfortable bed, fab bathroom and the room was spotlessly clean (although I don’t go checking everywhere for dust!). I was expecting something quite basic and I was wrong - it was really good.
If I had to be really picky I would say it was a pain having to park around the corner (it was raining but that is not the fault of the Royal!) but this is an old building on a main street and at least they offer an option for overnight parking as its not possible at the Royal.

Large, quirky traditional pub with beautifully decorated rooms. I would have loved to explore it more, but could only stay one night. It had two bars on different floors with a seperate dining area and boasts a full sized snooker table! It has an outdoor area with shelter and a tv. The menu for food is extensive, spoilt for choice. The meal servings are huge. I can eat a lot and struggling to finish. Outstanding food. The service was great too. I was staying with my dog and when they say they are very dog friendly, they mean it. Allowed in all area, dogs everywhere. Yet clearly kept very clean. In the room for us there were dog bowls, blankets and a towel for after you've been to the beach - which have beatuiful dunes to play in. There were even dog biscuits, all was appreciated. There were even cookies for people with the tea and coffee. The bedroom was very clean and comfortable with a heater and a fan. The bathroom was beautifully decorated and the shower was a really hot and high powered walk in shower that couldn't be easier to use. The tv was a large smart tv which is a nice touch. Breakfast, also outstanding. Honestly, anything you want and they'll even bring it to your room. It was all so nice; the fried bread the best I've had in a long time! The staff were lovely and very helpful. Would love to stay again. The setting of the hotel next to the beach against the mountains, it's such a beautiful place to be
I realy don't think there was anything

Beautiful room and the location of the the hotel is superb. Parking is at a local garage round the corner but charged at only £5 per day which is great value. The breakfasts are absolutely delicious and the staff are very attentive and friendly. The room itself was spacious and you get a whole array of biscuits, teas and coffees in the room. The pub food and drink in the hotel are good value for money and very tasty indeed. We really enjoyed our stay
The TV in the room was pretty rubbish. It kept freezing and scrambling making it impossible to watch which was incredibly annoying because the Olympics were on at the time and I really wanted to watch the highlights each night when we went to bed

On arrival we where shown to our room by Emma, helping with our doggy luggage. She was informative and friendly. Making us feel welcome. What was really a nice gesture, which we have not come across for a long time in hotels or B&Bs over the years was there were dog bowls, treats and blankets for the dogs. We need not have brought anything from home for them. Our bedroom was nicely decorated with some nice classic furniture and a good sized bed. The bathroom had a brilliant shower and again plenty of space in it. Good shower controls too with plenty of hot water. Good choice on drinks tray, herbal, tea, coffee plus mineral water and a fridge if required inside large fitted wardrobe. There was a good friendly atmosphere in the pub area what really stood out was the walls/ceilings painted with stories of Welsh mystical history, apparently painted by an 80year old man during Covid lockdown, there is a book telling of the painting history tales, cant remember name of the man who did the paintings but they are amazing making the pub unique. Lots of antique furnishing throughout the pub and bedroom floors where people slept added to quaintness. All the staff at any time of day/night where friendly and helpful. Entertainment was on one of our nights but nothing could be heard on any of the floors above the pub, certainly kept us fit going up to our room!. We would definitely recommend The Royal for a stay and breakfast which was pre ordered and delivered fresh by staff in the dining area, evening meals also available which we had both nights.
We had never been to Barmouth before and as other people had said to us they enjoyed the place we decided to go and see it for ourselves. Sadly it was not for us, the harbour area was nice but there was nothing else that appealed to us even though we did walk about both up the hills and beach/prom but Barmouth did nothing for us. Probably because we love Llandudno.
