Amazing rural location, beautiful farmhouse, everything set up perfectly for a quiet, relaxed break. Sam is a fantastic host. Everything super clean, the room was very comfortable. I wish I could have stayed longer than my three full days but it was still enough to feel recharged. There are some stunning places to visit nearby, Croyde Beach for example and half a dozen lovely coastal towns/villages. Definitely looking forward to my next stay.

Nothing to suggest, everything was spot on at Holwell. Just be aware, the retreat has excellent open wifi but in the hills and valleys in this region there is often no mobile wifi signal and, if you're an O2 customer, sometimes telephone calls and texts won't work. Best to download maps / directions to your device if you're going out for the day.

I booked this stay for my mums Christmas gift and I cant exaggerate enough that we loved EVERYTHING about our stay! Sam and Imogen were the most welcoming and delightful hosts. The room was lovely, spacious and cosy, and the beds were super comfortable! The whole house has a loved and rustic vibe where you feel completely welcome as soon as you step in! We had the breakfast both mornings of our stay, and it was absolutely delicious. We also used nearly all of the treatments that were on offer (Reiki, Yoga, massage, facial, fire-pit under the stars, & sauna), and we left feeling so Zen and full of life and itching to book our next stay in September. And to top it off we even left with some of Imogen's own skincare brand 'Lunari', which she makes herself, and which was used within our treatments - my skin feels amazing! Thank you so much for our stay, we would highly recommend!

Holwell has a warm, calm and relaxing feel as soon as you enter. Sam was a great host and made me feel very welcome. Breakfast was lovely each morning. I was able to use the yoga studio for my own practice and had a great 1:1 yoga session with Ella. I had a relaxing stay and would love to visit again.

Location is great if you have transport. I enjoy walking and running so fine for me but be mindful that if you don't, you'll need a taxi to eat out. The only other thing was that my room's toilet and shower were outside of the bedroom which was not much of a problem for me but I was worried about making noise in the middle of the night.

a lovely quiet relaxing location, handy for the north Devon beaches and walks. we didn’t make use of the facilities but everything looked really well set up. it was a great base to explore the areas coastal walks. Sam was very knowledgeable of walks in the area, we particularly enjoyed parking up in mortehoe, walking along the coast path to morte point then on to bull point lighthouse. we spent the afternoon on Rockham beach along the way. On another day we parked in lynton and walked up the river to the national trust cafe at watersmeet. A steady incline that made you work for your coffee, cake and ice cream.

there was nothing to dislike for us, it suited our needs perfectly.

The bed was extremely comfortable and the bedroom itself was charming. The toiletries in the bathroom smelt divine and it was lovely to have a heated towel rail. The location is so quiet that all you can hear is birdsong. The other guests were delightful and we enjoyed chatting with them.

I would have liked local sourced honey and jam to be available at breakfast. A blackout blind in the bedroom would be useful at this time of year as the bright morning sun shines through the curtains and wakes light sleepers such as myself.

Holwell was a welcome respite from the Winter weather. Our room was a comfortable king size with ensuite and we enjoyed sitting in the ambient lounge, reading in front of the fire. Imogen and Sam are wonderful hosts and made our stay feel very special. We loved the wood-fired sauna, yoga and massage offerings and having home cooked meals completed our experience. What a luxury! Thank you both :)

The shower/toilet for our room wasn't en-suite, it was still private and a lovely clean big shower but it was just across the corridor. This perhaps could have been made more clear in the booking information.

Holywell Retreat is a place of absolute calm and tranquility. The retreat was wonderful with its own distinct character , perfectly placed in the beautiful Devon countryside . The brilliant host Sam was available all the time to help with local advice and knowledge, and anything else you might need. A very special place to stay, will definitely be back . The Breakfast was very good, a very relaxing place to stay in a lovely location. My daughter and I were seeing a show at the Queens Theatre Barnstaple and this was an ideal place to stay as only a short drive to get there.

The location was perfect as had a wedding in the area. It was so peaceful at the property with a very relaxed vibe, Sam was so friendly and allowed you to come and go as you please. He made breakfast for us every morning and it was beautiful, if you wanted anything, nothing was a problem. The room with garden view was beautiful with lovely views and so peaceful.

There’s not a lot you can do if didn’t have a car.
