The room and on suite room were decorated to a very good standard, the bed was very comfortable. There were ample tea and coffee making facilities including fresh locally made biscuits every day, digital TV and good fast WiFi service, we had no difficulty streaming high definition video. The breakfast was a real treat, making it a difficult choice each morning, for me the haddock omelette and the poached eggs, avocado on sourdough bread were the best! Parking is opposite in the Council owned car park, we bought a weeks county wide use ticket prior to arriving which saved all the hassle of buying tickets each day and was used in County car parks everywhere we visited.

I can't think of anything! the owner, Will had a really good knowledge of the area, able to advise on walks , cycle trails, cycle hire, surfing and a host of other events and places to explore. I think the only downside was that our holiday break wasn't longer.

We enjoyed the choice of breakfast which really was exceptional, atmosphere very good and great background music. Kingsley the Labrador was adorable, I’ve yet to meet such a well behaved dog. Will was an excellent host, lots of good advice regarding the locale, happy to chat about our visit, directions for the bus services, organising a parking permit etc. The other staff we met were very friendly. The location in the centre of Mortehoe put us only yards away from two pubs, the post office and a fish and chip shop! The road down to Woolacombe was pretty steep but the bus only takes 10 minutes in either direction. The scenery along the coastline is spectacular, and Woolacombe beach as wonderful as it was when I visited as a child 60 years ago.

Breakfast was excellent!! Location was great, easy access to all areas, good bus service if needed. The room was exceptional with the added bonus of a small balcony, although near the road, the views were beautiful, with very little noise from.traffic. The local pubs were friendly and offered good food and cider, at a fair price. Excellent walking area with fantastic views if the coast and country.

Parking charges were expensive!! Despite having purchased a 4 day permit for the car park opposite the accommodation, we were unable to access the website to confirm which additional car parks were included. We ended up paying another £50 in parking in different areas of the locality.

The host were amazing super friendly and down to earth. Made the stay even better with the family atmosphere! Nothing was too much to ask and it was nice how we were asked each morning how our previous day was. Breakfast was amazing each morning such a variety! We didn’t book ahead of time but they managed to fit us into their restaurant for an evening and it did not disappoint highly recommend booking at their evening restaurant! Also it was lovely to be met with their dog during the course of our stay he is super friendly and laid back and just makes the stay even more enjoyable.

The greeting offered from Stacey and Will was an unexpected delight. Nothing was too much and they added a lot of value to our three day trip to North Devon. A comfortable room, lovely meal in the evening at Miss Fae's Bistro and a pleasant environment to enjoy the gentle ambience.

We had two very small issues. The plug in the beautiful roll top bath didn't keep the keep the water in (it leaked out very vey slowly - it didn't spoil the enjoyment but it needs attention) and the shower leaked a little on to the floor but nothing that a strategically placed towel couldn't deal with.

Loved everything and I mean everything, the location is nice and quiet, beds were very comfortable, the room was super clean, delicious breakfast, the owners were lovely and then there was Kingsley to top it up. I mean everything was superb, thank you for having us and hopefully one day we will meet again. There are not a lot of places where we say that we would go back , but this is one of them, unfortunately our stay was too short, next time we will try to stay for longer. Thank you again for having us and all the best.

A superb house with such character . Our room was beautifully decorated , cosy, clean and comfortable. The extra little touches of good quality tea, coffee and homemade biscuits were a treat. The hosts are so welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. Mortehoe is a lovely village with stunning walks from your doorstep. We would highly recommend you have dinner in Fea’s Bistro , the quality of the food was superb, the service excellent and amazing value for money. We will definitely be returning to Smuggler’s Rest .

We liked everything about The Smugglers Rest. Exceptionally decorated, clean and comfortable rooms. Coffee machine, 6 different types of tea, biscuits, replenished daily. Wonderful choice of breakfast. From full English to perfect omelettes. Furthermore, we had dinner at The Smugglers Rest as well and the food was exceptional. The Host could not have been more helpful with a light touch and easy manner. We will certainly recommend The Smuggles Rest and are more than happy to stay here again.

LOVED the breakfast, choice was abundant and meals arrived fairly quickly. Breakfast was amazing! The owners Will & Stacey were super friendly and accommodating where possible. Late check in wasn't an issue. Request of a Birthday candle in the dessert was also fulfilled. The overall feel of the building was modern with a nostalgic twist, warm and welcoming.

The problem we had was the noise coming from a room above, constant stumping and door slamming, the mattress was also not great. lastly, the tap in the bathroom was a very unfortunately positioned and possibly leaked.
