I was working a night shift locally and the reception staff was exceptionally helpful in allocating me a quiet and warm room in the courtyard. She also was super helpful at arranging me a continental breakfast, kept to one side for me to have late morning, after my post shift sleep. I really couldn't have asked for more. The decorations around the hotel were so beautiful, even though I was away with work, I felt properly in the festive spirit while there. I will be visiting again, bringing my husband next time!

The shelf in my bathroom was broken and the electric sockets in the bedroom were in a less than ideal position - minor points against an otherwise perfect stay.

Highfield Park is a mansion house with an annex likely converted from stables. Both the main house and the annex (Fir Tree Court) are well apointed, clean and bright, with a slight overtone of conference centre accommodation. The annex is a short walk across the car park to the main house for breakfast, which on a mild day may be enjoyed externallly under cover with views across the valley. Breakfast starts promptly from 0700hrs weekdays with full cooked breakfast buffet, together with cold meet, cheese, cereal, fruit salad, hot and cold drinks. The rooms are clean and well appointed with desk, chair tve, and hot drink making facilities, with ironing facilities available on request/demand. The main house also has a bar/lounge area, and electric vehicle charging points for hotel guests. If you have the time there is plenty of external space to explore and/or catch up on your early morning runs.

Nothing... rapidly becoming my 'go to' accommodation when in the area. (If you park in the main parking area, look out for the holly bushes, they are full of berries which will challenge your car's paintwork!)

Everything, thought we was at the wrong place when we was driving down the long drive, came to the house it looked great. Was welcomed by a very friendly chap who was so helpful, he booked us in and showed us the way to our room., it was lovely and clean and comfortable. We was mistaken by the time for breakfast we thought it was 7 but that's at weekends, we was going to a car show so needed to leave early the same man arranged with the chef and breakfast staff to sort us out it was lovely and lots to choose from Our stay was great from start to finish. Well done to all of the staff, especially the friendly man that was there when we arrived.

Speedy ramps, but that was because our car was low.

I liked the low-cost room rate I received at short notice. The bathroom was spacious, and the hotel staff were very accommodating. The scent running through Fir Tree Court was lovely. The grounds were nice, although I would have liked to explore more. Dave, who ran the breakfast room, was a sheer delight to see in the morning.

The room was compact. I'm only 5'1 but taller guests may find this an issue (top floor, room 30, fir tree court) The bed could have benefited from having a headboard and more power outlets in the room. The bar and restaurant did have a dated feel. But these are only tiny observations rather than issues that affected my stay. I would like it if I were to stay again, there could have been a brochure with a walking route around the grounds included in the room.

The staff were excellent, extremely friendly and helpful throughout the stay. The condition and cleanliness of the room was of a high standard. Little details such as a fan in the summer time was a nice added touch aswell as a small amenity kit in the bathroom. The choice of a different selection of tea's and coffee's was also an impressive addition to the room.

When booking a signature double room in the main house it states in the room advertisement that their would be a view of the surrounding landscape however the view was obstructed by bushes aswell as the flag pole. This however understandly this is just applicableto to the room we had as it is right above the hotel entrance. Also the double bed had a large crease/gap down the centre, this makes me think 2 single beds were pushed together with double bed linen put over it which unfortunately not only makes it uncomfortable to sleep but is not expected when paying for a signature double room.

Great staff and facilities. Lovely walks in the grounds

I wish there was the option to book breakfast if you didn’t book it with the room as I don’t always know if I want a big breakfast until the evening.

Lovely old house and grounds, enjoyed the spiral staircase. My dog enjoyed the cat!

I had a dog with me so not sure if the room was a usual room, although appreciate someone has to sleep in it. also I was on my own so wondering if the room was this room due to these 2 points/ View of a roof right infront of the window. Also a weird noise started around 8 or 9, i cant remember now but it went of for about 15 -20 mins that if it was longer would have enquired. i was timing it, happened every 1/5 minutes for 12 ish seconds, like an engine starting up. I am noise aware so it caught my attention but anyone would have heard it as it was a clear noise. I have left the above request re noise free as although there was a noise for a short time, it didn't take away from the overall stay.

Very comfortable bed. Snug, cosy room. Friendly welcome. Wildlife seen when walking in the grounds. Historic ambience of the public areas in the main house, although I did not stay there -- including the classically inspired staircase spiralling upwards around a central space with no visible means of support. Smoking, including vaping, is not allowed indoors. The bells of the historic St Michael's Church right next to the hotel make a lovely sound on Sunday morning on the two Sundays a month when a service is held there (but check beforehand).

Every time the TV was turned on it lost the TV channel and the sound reverted to a level that might disturb other guests. The soundproofing in the annexe where my room was was poor. Toilet took some force to flush. Carpets in the corridors in the annexe were starting to look tired. The fragranced room spray that seemed to have been used in those corridors on the morning I departed was unwelcome. I would have appreciated a "card key drop" for people who wish to check out quickly, having paid in advance.

Very nice place, with a big park to walk around and relax after a long day. I was expecting more from the restaurant, the dishes were good but the location was a little cold (just a big empty room). Breakfast was a buffet, not bad but not particularly full of options. The best feature was Tinkerbell, the hotel's cat, who was really nice and cuddly!

The rooms are a little outdated, especially the bathrooms, which at a first glance could seem not perfectly clean, but then you notice they're just worn out and ruined due to the passing of time. I would spend a little bit to upgrade them and then the hotel would be perfect.

I was expecting a small room, because the size is clearly stated when you book, and it was indeed very small. It was basically just large enough for a double bed, with about a foot's space around it. But for one or two nights, it was perfectly fine, thanks to hooks on the doors, a nice big cupboard and other design tricks to make the most of the space. The breakfast buffet was great, and the dining room mercifully quiet in the morning, with no blaring music. Comfortable bed, with lovely bed linen.

The walls are quite thin, so you have to hope for quiet neighbours. The coffee at breakfast was barely drinkable.
