The host was kind and friendly, and waited up for my unexpectedly late arrival, as I'd missed my connection. He helped me with my bags to the room and explained where everything was. Lovely large rooms with smart TVs and seating areas as well as high-quality beds with heavy duvets for a luxurious sleep. Huge house with gloriously high ceilings. Decorated in a lovely quaint cottage style throughout with a large bespoke kitchen and modern bathrooms with amenities such as shower gels and shampoo, etc. You will feel at home immediately. Excellent location. 2 minute walk from the hospital. 2 minute walk to the train station and just 4 mins away from both a Morrisons superstore and asda superstore. Buses go straight to Durham, Darlington or into Bishop Auckland Town centre bus station where you can catch any bus to many other towns. The town centre and the castle are 10 mins walk down the High Street. A 1hr train ride takes you straight to several beaches, and it's just a 34-minute car drive to the nearby beaches. Continental breakfast included and checkout is at a leisurely 11am. I definitely recommend this place as a solo or business traveller and would be my first choice stay over any hotel in the area.

Very impressed. The room was really comfy, but what was really impressive is that Sean had clearly thought about things - for example, there was a multi-adaptor on the bedside cabinet to make sure you could charge your phone at night (sounds simple, but the kind of thing so many places don't do). Everything was scrupulously clean, and the instructions provided beforehand meant there were no problems checking in or navigating parking restrictions. The fridge and microwave upstairs were also really helpful, and the breakfast may only have been toast, cereal, fruit, orange juice and coffee, but again had clearly been thought about (lots of choice of cereals and spreads). A shared bathroom isn't for everyone (if it's not for you, don't book!), but absolutely everything that could have been done was done. Incredible value, and highly recommended.

Can't think of anything.

The house is so accessible as we were in the next town over and so easy to access. Street parking was spot on and we were provided with a permit. The room was ground floor at the front the sofa bed room. Oh my goodness the bed so comfortable, very quiet considering the location. Clean, towels provided access to a superb kitchen and down stairs toilet, and full bathroom upstairs. Range of teas which we loved. The room also boasted a recliner sofa and brilliant smart TV. The breakfast was a wonderful continental selection thoroughly enjoyed it and having it placed outside the door was a lovely touch. Sean's a wonderful goat who seriously just wants you to have a nice stay.

Having the leave 😔 ...seriously cannot fault this place

The communication & information from Sean before we went was excellent. . And how friendly & helpful he was when we arrived. Our room was large & well decorated, warm & cosy, there was a private ensuite, and everything spotlessly clean. Bed was comfortable , large tv, kettle with tea, coffee, milk & biscuits proved in room . In the morning there was a lot of choice for the continental breakfast . We were only on a one night stop over on our way elsewhere but we were very impressed & would not hesitate to stop again if we come back to this area.

Nothing not to like.

Very spacious room, very comfy and good sofa-bed. Everything's clean and tidy. You get clear instructions before you arrive from Sean; on parking, where to find and how to get to the keys, where your room is in the house, breakfast and the other facilities in the house. Sean is a lovely host and takes you on a tour around the house. And if you have any other questions about the area, he'll be more than happy to inform you on where to find places or about activities to do in the area. As a tip, bring earplugs. The sofa-bed room is next to the front door, you will hear people coming and going. Also, everything that happens in the kitchen can be heard in the downstairs rooms.

I arrived on 1st July 2023, I got there at 7pm as I was visiting a friend in Roddymoor. The host was friendly and professional, showed me my room. As I was travelling alone, I was given room 4. A small but compact room with a single bed, towels etc. The bathroom was a shared bathroom and toilet, tea/coffee facilities were outside the room. Free WiFi and was great for one night stay. The kitchen was easy to use, provided continental breakfast with eggs you can cook yourself. Infact breakfast was all self-serving which was ideal for me.

Only the external noise but that's isn't the host fault

Breakfast was a good continental breakfast. No offer of cooked. Very good food but personally I prefer to eat in a dining room, not the kitchen, and definitely not in the bedroom as the Sunday morning was.

Much prefer en suite rather than sharing though the bathroom was good. Sean is relatively new to the business & given another season he’ll probably have the bathroom/kitchen organisation better sorted.

We were met with friendly reception, every thing was in order, parking was not a problem, and owner and other guests alike were very helpful with information of where to eat and drink etc, would recommend

Sadly there was nothing to dislike, it met our expectations exactly what we booked it for and needed, so were far from unhappy, and would recommend to future people considering to stay here.

Easy to find and despite concerns that on-street parking may be a problem when arriving late evening I was assured that space would be available, and it was. Quiet room, ample supplies of tea and coffee, continental buffet breakfast included a large variety of preserves and my favourite Fruit & Fibre and Meusli cereals - home from home! Exceptional value for money.

Nothing.

very friendly and helpful owner. Use of kitchen. spacious room on ground floor. It was easy to park close to the property on the street and parking permits were provided if needed (not required overnight).

It would have been nice to have an en suite, but there was a downstairs WC in addition to a shared bathroom, so it wasn't really a problem.
