The hotel was very central in Moretonhampstead and had been recently redecorated to a high standard. The decor had been chosen carefully and looked fresh without losing the character of the 400 year old building. Everything was clean and tidy. The bed was comfortable, plenty of tea, coffee and milk available in the room. The shower was pleasant and nice fresh towels. Generally staff were very helpful and friendly and once they are more experienced at using the computer to check guests in and order food for breakfast it will be better. The owner was around at breakfast time and happy to chat about all the improvements that have been made.
When we arrived I was asked for card details even though I had already paid for the room in full, which I have not encountered before, I found the way this was asked a little abrupt and unnecessary. The TV did not work when we got to the room, this was fixed after we enquired. It is not the hotel's fault, but because of the central location there was lots of traffic noise, especially as there was a damaged drain cover which all the cars and lorries drove over.

This is a buzzing, lively place with staff that seem to work extra hard to make guests happy. Though we don't have a dog, we really appreciated that the hotel is so welcoming to folks traveling with their special companions. Julie, who runs the breakfast room, was terrific! She worked very hard to keep everything just right for us. All our meals were well-prepared and delicious. The decor lends an air of old-fashioned plushness with a definite contemporary edge.
Shower/tub fixtures were a tad confusing to operate, but worked just fine once we got the hang of them.

Location. Perfect base to explore the town and glorious Devon countryside. Attractive venue. Comfortable and clean room well equipped. Bonus two tub arm chairs. Comfortable headboard. Decent shower. Superior loo roll paper for a change. Spacious and comfortable communal lounge area with plenty of extra comfy sofas. Happy crew. Excellent value. Simple breakfast which does the job. TripAdvisor Torbayaotearoa.
Bathroom extractor fan goes on forever. Bedroom cafetiere too small for size of coffee sachet. Inferior sauce sachets at breakfast. It would have been nice if the log fires were on fire in the communal lounge and bar. TripAdvisor Torbayaotearoa

The welcome by Alison was fantastic, a true understanding of hospitality. Alison, having noticed my husband's walking stick, helped bring our luggage from the car and changed our room to the 1st floor from the 2nd. Our room was well decorated and very comfortable. In fact we loved the decor throughout the hotel, lots of interesting art pieces. The staff catered for my coeliac diet without any fuss and we really enjoyed our dinner and breakfast. Moretonhampstead is an interesting place and good for exploring the moors.
Nothing really other than the hotel having no car park, although given the history of the hotel this is quite understandable.

Delightful old building which has been very tastefully modernised internally and run as a hotel. They were able to store my bicycle in a separate part of the building which is otherwise used for events. The room was a decent size with the usual facilities with a generous number of coffee sachets and toiletries. The room had an old sash window which is openable but with the draught-excluders and radiators, was very warm (late October stay). The bathroom is very modern and pretty high end with good pressure and temperature in the showers. Internet was free and ran at about 80 mbps download in practice which at time of writing is the top speed in the village. 4G signal was great on EE. The cooked breakfast was a good size and a great experience - the coffee was particularly high quality and was ground beans in a french press and I also had a couple of slices of toast and jam (the usual pastries, fruit, cereal, yogurt were available). A great range for dinner (which runs from 6pm each day) and was just what I needed to recover from the hill climb getting here.
The buses only run on a Sunday during the summer (variable but March/April - September) so getting here by bicycle from Newton Abbot station was challenging. There are public car parks for cars. The fire doors closing were a little loud from 6am onwards but I've never been in a hotel where this isn't the case. Will stay here again if I'm back in the area.

The little town of MortonHampstead is surprisingly lively for such a small village. The location is ideal for hiking and exploring Dartmoor. We had initially planned to camp, but were thwarted by an unusually long bout of wet weather. We booked the White Hart Inn to dry out and warm up, and it couldn’t have been cozier. The tartan carpets, a lounge filled with comfy couches, a welcome and unfussy atmosphere, dogs welcome. It was like being in the living room of a close family friend. The beds were comfortable, the dinner and breakfast tasty. We thoroughly enjoyed our two nights here.

Traditional and Typical English Hotel with lovely new owners who are clearly giving it a good go and deserve support. Allot of work has gone into the bar and restaurant refurbishment that is very comfortable and stylish. Bedrooms and bathrooms are what you would expect from a typical English hotel at this level, very comfortable, clean and provide everything you need. Remember what you are paying before being critical, and remember the age of the building!
All good.

We had a very cosy comfortable room with an ensuite and tea making facilities. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. The evening meal was very well cooked with generous portions. A good choice of food on the menu.
The hotel had a very pleasant restaurant with a low ceiling, but it was quite dark in the corner where we sat for our meals. The restaurant only had wall lights with dark coloured shades and no ceiling lights. It was difficult to see your food and if you were eating on a winter's evening you would struggle.

Very new owners with lovely friendly energetic style. Newly opened and refurbishing as they go. Downstairs done and looking great. Upstairs awaiting a bit of an upgrade but the bed and bedding were excellent, the pressure in the shower and hot water excellent, the room was roomy and a really lovely temperature - snug but airy. Good breakfast. Friendly helpful staff, nice buzz in the bar in the evening.

Lovely small hotel right in the town center, public car park right behind the hotel. Lovely bar with great beer, ales and cider. Very nice breakfast with great service.
We arrived on a Sunday night at around 19.45 and could not get any dinner anmore as the kitchen was already closed, would have been nice after a 5 hour arrival trip to get at least offered some sandwiches or snacks as we even told in advance the arrival time. But we got a great recommendation for a small Italian restaurant in town where we got amazing pizza :)
