Great location for where we needed to be. Well stocked hospitality tray and surprisingly quiet, considering their is a pub below. Comfy bed, plenty of storage, and a good-sized room. Great pub menu for evening meals, we weren't around at lunchtime.

The bathroom could probably do with a refresh. The Internet and Wi-Fi need looking at as it was quite patchy. For me, as I'm 6'4", the ceiling beams are rather low, but that's the character of the building. I only banged my head once. 🙂. It would have been nice if breakfast was available, but it wasn't an issue as there are plenty of places to eat close by.

Gorgeous old inn, on the banks of the river and lots of character - old beams throughout and original windows. Excellent choice of alcohol free beer and gin (a real nice surprise as a soberista used to becks blue or nothing!) Bonus points for oat milk sachets with the coffee machine - again a real nice surprise for someone who doesn’t eat dairy. Rooms have super effective air con - bliss and lead to perfect nights sleep. Convenient location within walking distance of town centre and train station.

Breakfast wasn’t an option - cereal bars were ok but would have been nice to have list of places that deliver or provide breakfast close by

Lovely cozy room. With lots of atmosphere. Comfy bed. Lovely clean fluffy towels, and an amazingly powerful shower. Meals in the pub great value and staff really took time to ensure my friend was catered for and safe due to multiple allergies. Staff friendly and really helpful. Quality tea and coffee supplies and Oat milk ❤️

Parking!!!! Carpark over the road is reasonably cheap at 6.60 for 24hours but you have to renew at 00.00. This can be done by phone just remember to set your alarm. Further on can paid more than 24hrs but so expensive

No breakfast offered in this location but complimentary breakfast cereal bars and tea bags etc provided. Lovely beamed decent sized room, self controlled heating/Aircon unit, comfortable bed, good bathroom (extractor fan broken). Food in restaurant/pub very good, large variety - reasonable price for the quality and quantity but not cheap. Plenty of garden seating. Location very close to town and river walk. I would recommend this Inn.

Paint work was a bit shabby but didn't effect enjoyment. Car park opposite was a bit of a pain to pay as you can't pay for overnight, you have to top up at midnight. Creaky floorboards outside and above room.

Great place to stay we had a party in town so it was convenient to stay for us Room was nice bigger then I thought comfortable bed we had kettle coffee maker with biscuits and breakfast bar Staff were really friendly and helpful showed us to the room and explained how we have 24 hour access by a side door with key fob Car park opposite and it cost us 3.90 for 24 hours We had a drink in the beer garden before we rang a taxi for the party they gave us a list of numbers it was great atmosphere in the pub It is an old building and lots of stairs to the room something to be aware of if you have walking problems We would definitely stay here again

The room was spacious and very well equipped with exceptional tea and coffee making facilities The bed was super comfortable and the aircon was very welcome as we had a heatwave at the time The staff were also helpful and quick to respond to requests

I couldnt get in touch with anybody before 12 midday when i wanted to try to extend my stay I wasnt aware of early closing for the check in on sunday and had to get a friend to get my key or else i would have been room less Thimble sized teacups (however i t is possibly my preference of mugs for my hot drinks )

The bedroom was a good size with a very comfortable bed and clean bathroom with good shower. The towels were thick and soft, which was lovely. Good selection of refreshments, with plentiful teabags and biscuits! The bar is lovely. Spacious and comfortable. Lots of seating areas, with large tables and comfy chairs, or higher tables and chairs. Great outside area, although but chilly for us to enjoy. Evening meals were great. Lots of choices and reasonable prices. Good location, just a short walk into shoppy area and just along the road from a retail park too. We had a back bedroom so didn't hear traffic noise. Despite being a pub, the rooms are far enough from the bar that noise was not an issue for us at all.

There is no parking at the hotel. We booked, believing that the public carpark opposite was a suitable option as mentioned in hotel description but it is not. Carpark payment is only accepted until midnight each day, so we would have been fined if we had paid for 24hours. We paid for an hour while trying to work out where we could leave the car for the correct period needed and decided to use Tesco carpark as we could leave it there overnight. Parking on the upper level gave added security as this has full door barriers while the store is closed.

The Riverside Inn is really oldie worldie. The room has lots of original oak beams and features. Lots of little extras too like a coffee machine, teas and biscuits 😁 It is conveniently located next to a large shopping mall so ideal for food or other stuff you might need. There is a lovely walk next to the river Chelmer

The food in the Riverside Inn was not great. Maybe we got them on a bad day. I had the Fish and Chips. Fish was overdone and really tasteless. The staff were great that served it though😄

Riverside Inn is a charming place with a lovely pub on the ground floor that adds to its rustic charm—we loved the vibe! The staff at reception (located within the pub) were friendly and welcoming. Our room was spacious, offering a beautiful view of the river. We highly recommend it if you're looking for a place to stay in Chelmsford!

Just a heads-up: there's no elevator, so be prepared to carry your luggage up the stairs.

Lovely hotel, cosey country feel, our room was massive. Very clean, coffee facilities with coffee pods and snacks supplied, not just a kettle and some coffee sachets. Our bed was very comfortable and the air conditioning was a delight during the September heatwave. The staff member was so lovely who showed us up to our room. Would definitely stay again.

Not a bad thing but no lift there and if on top floor it's a good few stairs to climb, so not great for mobilty issues. The side door for hotel guests runs right past the pub toilets and when checking out in the morning there was a definite loo smell coming out them filling up the hallway.
