We arrived on bicycles in the pouring rain. We’d been cycling around the UK and Ireland for 6 days for charity. We were tired, hungry and soaked through. The welcome we received was quite frankly astonishingly warm, welcoming, professional. Best in class. Every single aspect of our stay was catered for. - You’re soaking wet? Yes - Well we having a superb drying room. You have wet bike? Yes - We have dry, secure storage. You’re hungry? Yes - Well we have superb food, which we can prepare right now, despite that it’s late. Do you need to charge up all your bike lights and navigation? Yes - Well we have multiple integrated USB charging points at your beside for just such a requirement. Do you need a proper hot shower? Yes - Well have outstanding rooms with superbly equipped bathrooms and power showers. We also have amazing sandalwood shower gel which is amazing after a long day in the saddle. Do you need a proper breakfast? Yes - Well we have an amazing range of breakfast choices to suit every palate and highly trained staff to serve you exactly what you order. I CANNOT RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL HIGHLY ENOUGH. A straight 10/10
As above - Everything

Very good breakfast in a lovely dining room. Although only b and b during the winter, excellent facilities for having take-away food. Very welcoming staff who were extremely helpful. Very dog friendly. The hotel is packed full of character and charm. My room was comfortable and I slept well. The wet room was great as it enabled me to give my dog a good clean after going for a walk along the river. Excellent location as Moffat is a lovely little historical town, very picturesque and near to the motorway.
I felt a little claustrophobic in the room as there was no view through the window. The room size was adequate for one but would have felt a little cramped if two people had been staying in it.

We called into the Buccleuch on a previous stay to Moffat and we were so impressed on how friendly the family who run this hotel are - we decided to stay on our next visit to this charming town and we weren’t disappointed- in fact we had a most delightful stay. We are motorcyclists everything you could possibly need for your trip has been thoughtfully planned and provided by the wonderful team here, from individual garages for the bikes to cleaning facilities and a power wash station. What struck us - was how the staff communicate with each other- and how well run the hotel is - Dave the owner was always on hand and ensured our stay was comfortable and expertly organised - from the warm welcome we received at check in, to the friendly bar (where we met some great people on their travels) and dining experience, to our smooth check out! I have to say it’s impressively geared up for visitors on two wheels, but all guests were well looked after and treated with respectful, friendly banter and a genuine desire to provide you with the best service possible ! Bedding is spotless and a really comfortable bed. Great shower !! Good hospitality tray. The breakfast was amazing - I’d even go as far to say it was the best breakfast I’ve ever had !! (Vegetarian breakfast - it’s was DELICIOUS, I’m not a vegetarian - it was amazing) beautifully presented too. We also enjoyed two evening meals here and again delicious and a lovely ambiance in the dining room. Another lovely touch was complimentary still or sparkling refrigerated water. Ohh and a daily lottery ticket left in the bed - which was a lovely gift idea ! We will most definitely be returning to this delightful hotel. What makes it exceptional is the team who run it and we’d highly recommend it!
The hotel is old and full of character - furniture in the bedroom is basic but all in good order and in the right place.

Outstanding customer service from the entire team from arrival to departure. Staff try to ensure that everything is perfect as far as possible. Rooms are fairly basic but also comfortable and everything worked, including the wifi. Evening meals are first class if you choose to eat at the hotel and breakfast choices cover every possible taste and also excellent. Amazing facilities for the motorcyclist with everything you could need from cleaning materials, service materials and the best possible secure parking are all available. Bike specific storage sheds are also available at a small additional charge if you want your bike undercover overnight. Overall this is an exceptional hotel geared towards (but not exclusively for) the motorcyclist or touring car driver. Highly recommended.
Nothing at all.

Excellent place to stay. Owners and staff were great and made us feel very welcome. The rooms were very clean and had everything we needed for our stay. Absolutely perfect place to stay if you're on your motorbike as they have everything you would want. Fully secure off-street parking and even cleaning facilities with a jet wash to use. It was really busy for our stay but you wouldn't notice as everything worked perfectly. Nothing was any bother at all, and the team were always happy to help and advise. Don't think twice about the breakfast. It was fantastic and worth every penny. Moffat is a canny place for a wander and a few beers with plenty of choice and is a great place to use as a base to explore the area. We'll be back.
Not staying another night.

Although the hotel is very well set up to accept motorcyclists like ourselves it is not exclusively so - there’s a very welcoming bar area and a very nice restaurant on the first floor that is open to residents and none residents alike. Dave and the family who own and run the establishment are keen motorcyclists themselves and their commitment to catering for those travelling on two wheels, motorised or not, really is second to none! Individual bike garages to hire are a nice touch and a worthwhile investment if the weather is being unkind, and at £2/night good value - but book in advance as the number available is limited! The rooms themselves are as you would expect in such an old building - nothing grand but clean and comfortable. Everyone working there seems to be on a genuine crusade to make their visitors stay a happy one, taking time to chat, offer advice on the local area, exchange travel stories etc - we enjoyed our time there very much and fully intend to return with a few friends in tow!
Nothing really, it’s an old building so it has its idiosyncrasies but that just adds to the experience - a Travelodge it is not!

The hotel is perfect for motorcyclists, has secure area to house bikes and even loads of cleaning equipment should you wish to clean your bike during your stay. The food is incrediblele, not the kind of food you'd find normally elsewhere. Really liked the comfy lounge and bar area for resting with a drink and the staff can not do enough to help and offer advice on the local area if needed.
It's a minor thing really but we arrived quite late after a long day of riding and were exhausted. Checking in involved a lot of information, it would have been nice to be able to drop bags in the room and have a short time to gather our thoughts and then doing the rest!

The owners of this property put other establishments in Scotland to shame. From the minute we arrived the staff could not have been more attentive if they tried. Every matter was attended to immediately. The room was immaculately clean, the beds comfortable and the bathrooms equipped to a high standard. The public areas are warm and inviting and there is always a member of staff available to attend to any needs. Dinner, especially the “bobotie” was sublime, as was the full Scottish breakfast the following morning. On leaving the following morning the staff again were available in force, assisting guests as required and giving advice on routes and the best roads to take. This hotel is operated especially to accommodate motorcyclists and at this they excel but don’t let this put you off if you are a mere traveller, you will not be disappointed especially considering the poor standard of accommodation we endured across Scotland on our recent road trip. Again thank you to all the staff of The Buccleuch Arms, we will be back.
There was nothing not to like.

Amazing customer service - Dave the owner makes a point to speak with every guest at each meal time, on arrival and departure. Really tasty food that is good value, comfortable room, a drying room and a map room for walkers and riders. Facilities for bikers are way beyond “biker friendly” - this is biker heaven. Truly a hotel designed by bikers for bikers, but others will also find it a great stay.
Our room (103) was described as “courtyard view” but only view was of a wall. Unimportant for our one-night stay, but could disappoint some guests.

Great location. Lovely homely feel to the Hotel. Staff were really friendly and helpful and couldn't do enough for you. The room was spotless and welcoming and perfect for a couple. The breakfast was something else, truly out of this world and quite probably the best hotel breakfast we've ever had.......we loved the place so much we both bought a Buccleuch T shirt. Absolutely fantastic stay. We will return.....
Leaving. If we could we would have stayed longer. We will return, wearing our T shirts 🤣.
