Cannot speak highly enough about our 2 overnight stays at the Hopetoun Arms - enjoyed every thing about it. Exceptional accommodation, great food, very dog friendly (although we didn't have our dogs with us it was lovely meeting the dogs that were there), a very relaxed atmosphere and friendly, efficient staff. In addition a very interesting location - well worth going off the beaten track to get there.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Scotland's highest hotel, the Hopetoun Arms Hotel, and it was a truly delightful experience. The staff were incredibly welcoming and attentive, ensuring that every need was met with a smile. My room was lovely, well-appointed, comfortable, and offering a peaceful retreat after a day of exploring the stunning surroundings of Leadhills. The meals at the hotel were superb, with a variety of delicious options available on the menu. The breakfast, tastefully prepared by Nathan was amazing and a delicious way start to the day. Nathan’s warm personality and professionalism was evident in every dish he served, making breakfast a memorable part of the stay. Overall, the Hopetoun Arms Hotel provides a charming and comfortable escape with exceptional service. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to experience the beauty and hospitality of Scotland.

The Hopetoun Arms Hotel is a delightful 10 minute drive off the A74(M), so a super convenient place to stay between Southern England and further North in Scotland. Our room (the Twin with Garden View) was large and comfortable, with a large en suite shower room. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. We at an evening meal in the hotel, the menu was a reasonably standard pub menu, but the food was good quality, excellently prepared, and the prices very reasonable. The breakfast was equally good. The hotel is dog friendly but spotlessly clean. The village and narrow gauge railway have an interesting history and there are good walks.
Our beds were comfortable, but felt a little unstable, perhaps because of the mattress topper.

We stayed here on our Taylor Swift weekend. A local hotel at the heart of the village community. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The family room had a double bed and two proper twin beds instead of some pull outs you would get elsewhere , with a decent size modern ensuite. So we all had a great night's sleep before and after the concert. I will definitely return to spend time walking in the area.
Some people would say it was a bit dated, but I would disagree as we felt it was rural , clean and comfy x

The accommodation was warm and comfortable. After a long days driving, it was nice to sit in the dining room with an open fire giving a good ambience. The food was good quality and the staff were friendly and helpful. There was amble parking available at the hotel. The room was supplied with tea/coffee facilities and was adequate for a restful night before continuing our journey.
Room was comfortable, the decoration was a little tired. Quite strict with breakfast times. You have to be down at the time slot that you booked the previous evening. Lots of stairs to deal with as we were at the top of hotel. (Although good for burning off a few calories!!).

Absolutely stunning so relaxing. Sarah is an amazing front of house member of staff nothing too much trouble for her. Rachel the host has lovingly made this wonderful hotel to the beautiful place it is today. The breakfasts are a real feast cooked breakfasts are cooked to a high standard for each guests requirements. The pub is attached to the hotel with a huge selection of whisky and gins and much more. The bar menu is superb again to the highest standard. Your fur babies are also treated to the very best standard .
Nothing to dislike about this hotel

The entire staff was welcoming and helpful. They went out of their way to make us feel like family. The property was clean and quiet. The full breakfast that was available ever was well prepared and tasty. Their onsite pub was warm and inviting. The owners answered any questions we had and was very helpful to give us ideas for places to see.
I only wish there had been a gas station and/or grocery store closer. But the proprietor has no control over that.

The owners and staff were all really friendly and made us feel so welcome. The atmosphere was relaxed, the room was very clean, comfortable and well appointed. The hotel is truly dog friendly (not just 'dog tolerant'). It's easy to find, great parking. Food was delicious. Great selection of gin and whisky, and a good pint of ale too.
There really wasn't anything we didn't like. Cannot fault it. Perfect place to rest on our journey to Skye. We stayed twice. Perfect both times.

Two stays here and we are just as impressed as we were was with a stay a few years ago. Large comfy room with a thoughtful basket of goodies for our dog. The food was excellent and reasonably price! The fish and chips were top notch! It is such a warm and welcoming pub and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Big shout out for the breakfast as well, nice strong decaf coffee and the fresh pineapple and melon were a tasty addition. The breakfast sausage for our dog was very well received too. We would definitely stay again, thank you Hopetoun Inn

I had a warm welcome at this historic inn, which has been comfortably modernised. A highlight was the excellent evening meal that I ate there - Balmoral Chicken followed by a raspberry crumble.
Soaps and shampoo were unbranded with an economy range feel. Also the loo paper was very thin. These details should be better for the price charged. (There is an environmental benefit to re-fillable soaps and shampoos, rather than little plastic bottles, but the quality of the contents should be high. There are some great Scottish products to choose from.)
