Absolutely loved our stay at Ferintosh. The building is beautiful, inside was well decorated, I annoyed my partner by taking half an hour walking down the stairs looking at the maps on the staircase. Room was cosy and bed was comfy. The owner was one of the nicest person I have ever met and very helpful. The breakfast was delicious. Free parking but also across the road from the station. Makes me want to return to Dumfries.
Nothing it was perfect

Another brilliant stay at Ferintosh Guest House! My dog Indie even did a little dance of joy when we arrived by train from London. Located opposite the station it's easy to get to with a suitcase and dog on the lead. The host Robertson went again out of his way and spoiled us with a big cooked breakfast, yoghurts, cereals, fruits etc. and with very good tips on where to go, where to eat with a dog. Not to forget lovely Mary, the housekeeper. This lovely, friendly woman always keeps our big room wonderfully clean, fresh and tops of up coffee, tea, biscuits and toiletries. We will come again, thanks very much for being so kind and generous.

We arrived by train, and realized Ferintosh is directly across the road from the station, in a row of stately Victorian red sandstone elegant homes. Such a joy! Our host Robertson was waiting for us, answering the door and chatting amiably with us in the lovely entry hall. He carried our luggage up the stairs, and we settled in our cozy room. Town is an easy 10 minute walk, and has all the medieval- to- Victorian architectural charm we hoped for, plus two old bridges over the River Nith. Must not forget all the Robert Burns sites, the wonderful museum in a former windmill, junk shops, chip shops, stairs and river walk. Lovely town Breakfast is cooked and served by "himself" and is very good. Robertson has a generous supply of information and maps, plus dog treats and towels, and brownies to borrow. We sat in the front garden after a full day, drinking tea. Completely satisfying.
Nothing.

The breakfast was exceptional. Robertson is a world class chef. We had the best breakfast of our entire journey at Fernitosh. The room was comfortable, clean, and quiet. Robertson and his wife are wonderful host and made us feel like family. Both are well informed about the Dumfries Area .We will definitely highly recommend Fernitosh to our friends and family. Added plus is that is just a block from train station.

For a privately run place it was very nice and homely. Food was good and served very well by the owner. Has done an incredible job staying in business competing with other hotels and guest houses. Only real problem is the parking. Owing to the type of building it's impossible to have the parking at the property. Really appreciated the hospitality shown and would consider going again when I visit again

We loved our stay at Ferintosh Guest House; we were welcomed by Robertson with such a friendly smile. He gave us really good suggestions for local walks as well as serving the most delicious breakfast. The bedroom was fully equipped with everything we could need and had a fabulous high power shower. Would highly recommend staying here - if we come back to Dumfries we will definitely be booking here again!

Great location opposite the railway station and a short walk into the town centre. The owner, Robertson, is a really welcoming host. Lovely breakfast, hot shower, tea and coffee with biscuits. Everything was great and would highly recommend staying here

Next to the railway station. So ideal location as we travelled by train. Breakfast was particularly good as cooked to order and delivered to our table. No self service buffet system, which suits me. Owner was willing to make breakfast choices to suit most reasonable requests.
Old properties are far more interesting than new bland equivalents. Down side could be slightly challenging stairs! TV in room could have been bigger.

Robertson was a great host, engaging as he provided an excellent breakfast. He was able to share local knowledge and views and suggestions of things to do, including some that were more. out of the way He is a great advocate for the region. A super range of choices for breakfast.
We enjoyed our stay - the building is of its time.

Comfortable, clean room with good amenities and a great shower! Friendly host and fabulous breakfast. Liked the way Robertson had gone to the effort of finding out local dog friendly places to eat and even how far to walk. It was nice to stay somewhere with character and the personal touch.
