Great location, lovely view. Large spacious rooms, comfortable bed. Blackout curtains that were really effective. Excellent customer service with helpful, friendly and kind staff.

Could do with slightly better lights coverage on drive between property and main road - we walked back from the bus stop one evening and the track mostly pitch black until close to the property (same route as cars take)

The location is beautiful and the building historic. Furnishings are antique and interesting.

For the price of our stay the quality of facilities and services was not appropriate. Maybe Taylor Swift had something to do with that!

The location was absolutely beautiful and we love exploring the grounds. The castle itself had some beautifully kept and well-maintained main rooms that were fun to look at. It was like stepping back in time. 

Our room was not at all what I expected based on the picture seen online. It was very basic. The stop for the shower would not stay up. And it just seemed a little bit less cat. If I was basing our room alone on the price of our hotel I would say it was very overpriced. Room was quite warm as well

The castle was lovely and the staff were great, and they brought breakfast in bed on my partner's 70th birthday on request and sang happy birthday which was nice, the bar staff was nice and friendly and did have a lovely meal one night of our stay.

I thought even though it's August and the fridge was on, it was overpriced for what I paid.the drink was only in bottles of beer which was £5 for a half a pint. It was a shame there's not draught beer, but I do understand being a castle and to much work to put pipes in. We were 6miles away from centre which was a bit far away, but there was a bus that was only £2 a ride which was good but downside it was 45 minutes a journey but got use to it, but parking in town was £25 for a few hours, which was a joke

Beautiful place, amazing room!

Staying at a castle alone is a great experience but we found that the personnel lacked a bit of energy and interest. We didn't sense a welcoming atmosphere, upon departure it felt more like 'let's complete the transaction and out of the door'.

wonderful staff, honestly made the stay worth while. they went above and beyond whenever we had a request. for example, I asked for a coffee and they made a fresh pot and served it all cute on a tray/delivered it. just great customer service. it was a castle so it was pretty incredible just due to that fact as well. loved having easy access to trails/green space for the dog. enjoyed being near the city, close enough to take an Uber but not so close that it’s busy and loud.

could use some up keep for sure. carpets dirty, towels were dirty (there was a bottle cap stuck on one of mine), some of the hallways smelled a bit. grounds could definitely use some cleaning up.

Wonderful secluded location within easy driving distance of Edinburgh attractions as well as the surrounding countryside. Staff were friendly and attentive, the grounds extensive and well maintained, and both the dinner and breakfast meals were delicious. Wonderful cosy atmosphere in the bar, too.

We encountered a snafu at the end of dinner - service during the first half was excellent but our entire section of tables seemed to be forgotton as we were finishing up. Staff were always friendly and helpful during the rest of our stay so this may have just been a mixup at service change.

Fantastic location, stunning castle, very friendly and hardworking staff. Perfect location to travel into Edinburgh easily, or to explore the local area by walking. Room service was good and the rooms kept very clean.

Breakfast time was too short, finishing at 930 is a little too early. Dinner menu quite limited and nothing there that we wanted, and you have to book well in advance to get a table (we couldn't have eaten there if we wanted to as it was fully booked). TV in the bedroom was in a silly place, too far away and if you are on the right side of the bed you can't see half the screen as the wardrobe blocks it. Also, the keycard seems to break every day.
