Breakfast very good. Dinner also very good, however wait times for food and pre dinner drinks very disappointing.

Unable to go to bar for pre-dinner drinks, we were asked to sit in lounge area where we would be provided with menus and order drinks from a staff member. We waited 40 minutes for a drink. We waited another 30 minutes for our table, basically over an hour later than the time we booked our table. Totally unacceptable. There were American visitors also in the lounge, some with very well behaved children also sitting waiting for over half an hour to be served drinks, this is dreadful service particularly when you’re with hungry young children, the American visitors were not happy about these service levels and I cannot blame them. That castle is beautiful and the food very good, breakfast service and food was excellent, shame about the evening experience.

The hotel is an excellent combination between a historical building and spa service. It is a beautiful place to go and disconnect for a weekend near Edinburgh. The orangery restaurant has an excellent selection of food and drink; if they know in advance, they adapt to your food requirements. The spa is small but offers a good range of offers. Finally the have a hidden gem, the library if you have time try to take tea or a drink there!!!!

The hotel has three walking trails around the property that looks nice and easy on the paper map offered in the reception. However, there is only one sign at the beginning of the path, so you can get loss quickly, mainly because the GPS signal is weak in the area. So if you plan to go for a walk, go during day time and with plenty of time.

breakfast was excellent. Views and asthetics of the common areas are fantastic.

Other meals not so great. window seals in orangery were dirty in an otherwise beautiful setting (3 days straight so I don't think it was a single oversite, it was too bad for an otherwise fantastic room), the waitstaff was a little strange, sort of starring at us while eating. Some were very nice, others a little odd (to put it nicely). Internet service is a joke. They blame the thick walls, yet they don't even have internet available in the main eating rooms, there is "private" internet though, with plenty of bars, so obviously the "thick wall" is not an issue for the employee wi-fi. Very frustrating and I can't imagine in 2023 that anyone would be ok with that.

The food was excellent full stop the people were excellent. The included spa was wonderful. the breakfast was perfect. The room was very spacious and well appointed

I bought the expensive dinner and ordered the lamb. It was microscopic compared to my wife's veal. I had to go and buy another dinner elsewhere on top of a 50-pound dinner! The hotel advertises Wi-Fi available. However it was non-existent in our room. We could not get any of 4 devices to even find their Wi-Fi. I agree they have thick walls in the castle but should advertise that not all rooms get Wi-Fi

We got to explore an 800 year old castle - and not only that, we got to stay in one of the rooms! It was truly a romantic place. Do NOT miss exploring the trails around the castle, especially by the creek. It was beautiful and the sounds were like something straight from a meditation CD. I cannot wait to go back someday. The staff were exceptionally helpful and so friendly. While you can Uber to the castle, they will NOT come pick you up, so the staff hooked us up with a taxi service when we needed it. The drinks in the bar were top-notch and the breakfast was delicious, too.

We are simple, southern Americans and the food served in the Dungeon restaurant was a little too refined for our palates. I also wish transpiration into Edinburgh were simpler but I did appreciate how helpful the staff was to call a taxi for us!

We had always wanted to stay in a real Castle and this did not dissappoint. Very impressive building in good condition, the rooms were a good size with modern bathrooms, one room unexpectedly had a separate office in an old turret-room. The bar/lounge was comfy with lots of historical information around the walls, the newer Orangery restaurant was good but the Dungeon Restaurant is a 'must'. The grounds offer excellent views and several market country walks. There was a Spa but we did not have time to use it. There is a railway station a 5-minute drive away with regular 20-minute rail journeys to Edinburgh.

Being a Castle, it has no lifts and lots of stairs especially if you are on the third floor. The WiFi was very variable, sometimes accessible, others not. Its in the countryside so Mobile phone access was also variable, some of us had a signal, others not but if you want to get away from all, perhaps not a bad thing...

From the moment we stepped into Dalhousie Castle the friendly staff took care of our every need and desire. From booking us into the spa, to arranging taxis and packed lunches, they went above and beyond what we would have expected of any hotel staff. The food was superb and the waiting staff we're both attentive and extremely polite. It was a truly magical experience and one we will never forget. This was our first time visiting Edinburgh and Dalhousie Castle - and you can rest assured we will be doing both again very soon. Thank you to all of the staff we had the pleasure of dealing with during our stay.

The only thing i didn't like is that we didn't have enough time to explore the stunning grounds or arrange to see your beautiful falconry - but it leaves us with things to do for our next stay with you.

Beautiful castle in gorgeous surroundings.

The accommodation was, by their own admission, short-staffed. We asked for reservations at The Dungeon restaurant both nights and were told they would call us, but no one ever called. We also asked for spa service and they were supposed to call us. Again, no call or follow-up. A bit disappointing considering the cost of 2 nights. We were constantly being told "We are short-staffed." Understandable that you are short-staffed, but would have preferred being told "NO" rather than "We will call you" and then ignored.

Had an excellent stay at Dalhousie, the room was lovely, and the castle itself was incredible, Meals in the Orangery restaurant were very good, and reasonably priced,

Breakfast was overpriced for what you got, For the dining experience you can have a meal in the Dungeon Restaurant (we didnt), however this comes at a hefty price tag, so be aware.

Historic castle set in its own grounds. Rooms echo this with individual style, art and wonderful outlook on to the lawn and the huge Cedar Tree from the room allocated. Dinner was wonderful in the Dungeon restaurant and staff ensured a first class experience both before and afterwards. Library and Alexander Room lovely for relaxing with a drink after dinner.

Everything contributed to a wonderful stay. Only thing I didn't like was not being able to stay longer!
