The location is brilliant. Close to the town centre yet only a few steps from the vast expanse of the water meadows. Being common land the meadows are open to all. Ideal for walks, with or without dogs. Dogs are welcomed in all areas of the hotel apart from restaurant. Breakfast can be taken in the bar area if you want to keep your dog with you at breakfast. Staff have always been very helpful when I have my dog with me.

Had a minor issue with housekeeping in that there were no towels in room on arrival. Otherwise no problems. I have stayed here on numerous occasions and this is the first time I've had an issue.

My room had a pleasant view across a meadow, helping to make it a nice restful place. I was glad that the restaurant was open on a Sunday night, because it was a stormy day and would not have been pleasant to go out to find somewhere to eat.

I have marked the Mill Hotel down for cleanliness because the shelf top (desk/dressing table/holding the tea & coffee etc) was sticky and still had some liquid that must have been spilt by the previous occupant. So the cleaning had not been thorough - perhaps the surface had been wiped but that spread stickiness across the whole area. I didn't use it so as to avoid spoiling my things. Apart from that, the room was good. Perhaps I will mention that the pillows were quite hard.

The room was clean and very compact. Bed was comfortable and the view out the window was lovely. The breakfast was good too. Location was perfect for work I had the next day. I liked that there was a private car park too. I loved the mill in the middle of the restaurant!

The room was very small and it was difficult to manoeuvre around the bed and sit at the desk to do some work. The decor was quite tired. My room was next to a door in the corridor so there was quite a bit of noise from the door opening and closing when people were walking through.

We spent two cosy nights in a little room partly overlooking the water meadows and right above the river cutting that supplied the old water mill. It was quiet, comfortable and very tastefully decorated and fitted. The "night porter" who greeted us was exceptionally helpful, even though we had been delayed and arrived after 2 a.m. He deserves high praise! Meals and beverages at the hotel were also good quality, speedily delivered and in beautiful surroundings.

I had hoped that the day manageress would help me contact booking.com regarding the no-show car rental that had delayed our arrival, but unfortunately the day clerk would not arrange a meeting with her.

There was a problem with the toilet after we first flushed it. It became unusable. The receptionist arranged for us to move to another room immediately. The receptionist was great, friendly, informative, and nothing was a problem for her. The view from the room was just beautiful. We overlooked a mill race, a path, and beyond that Sudbury meadows (common land) where we could see many birds, dog walkers and cattle foraging and frolicking. To one side was a duck pond and some lovely old cottages. There were outdoor seats and tables with this view also. The old working mill wheel could be seen working while sitting in the restaurant. The hotel had a good atmosphere and nice efficient staff.

Personally a lift in the hotel would have been helpful as we'd already walked from the station carrying our luggage when we arrived as there was no taxi rank at the station. Bus timetables and local maps were difficult to find during our visit though we did eventually find a map at the hotel on the last day and found a useful bus stop nearby.

Ideal location for a dog-friendly hotel. It's adjacent to Sudbury Water Meadows, a vast expanse of common land. The friendly and welcoming bar has in it the original water wheel still working, which makes quite a feature. Good range of food served throughout the day from breakfast, through brunch and evening meal. Dogs are not allowed in restaurant but staff are happy to serve my breakfast in the bar area so I could keep my dog with me.

I really can't think of anything. I've stayed in this hotel 2 or 3 times a year for the past 3 years. I wouldn't do so if there was something about it that I didn't like.

The staff, car parking, room was fine and a fan was already in situ. And needed as the corridor and room were quite hot and airless. We were also able to open the window about 6 centimetres, which also helped airflow. We both slept quite well, and the 11 o'clock departure was a kindness The girl on the desk kindly got a sheet for us to sleep under as the duvet was at least tog 10! She was charming and professional. Bearing in mind, you were fully booked, the hotel noise was pleasantly muted and latterly, quiet. The bed was really comfortable.

Wasn't expecting to have a shower curtain and not a glass partition in a 4 star hotel Hopefully, that's in your plans for the future. A couple of bottles of water would also have been a nice touch. Duvet tog would have cause heatstroke! X

The location is great with a fantastic view out, and of in, the restaurant (you can watch the mill wheel turn from the restaurant), The staff are professional and the room is comfortable. The evening meals in the restaurant are also good.

Breakfast could've been better, a bit disappointed to see a flask of coffee and a flask of hot water. The rest of the breakfast choice was good. The car park is a bit on the tight side and the wi-fi in the annex building is a bit slow sometimes.

The hotel is in a good location and we chose it because we have been there before., lovely walks and nice terrace to sit for a drink overlooking the river etc. Good breakfast served and nice friendly staff

When we arrived we found that we had been allocated a single room by mistake and the only double they had was in the cottage by the car park which was not an ideal location as you have to go across the road to go into the hotel and if that door is not open you have to walk round to the front which in bad weather is not good. We also feel that the dinner in the restaurant is not as good as it was on our pre covid visits and next time we would go out to dinner

It's a pleasent practical hotel for an overnight stay passing through. Parking was easy - albeit winter and Sunday night. Reception staff helpful. The room was very well heated, quiet and we slept well. Shower nice newish, clean and hot, not much water pressure - but we were on the third floor. The bar area was very pleasent although the log fire was not lit. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The water wheel is a pleasent distraction. Beer and wine selection normal for price range.

It was a Sunday evening at 19.00 (7pm) the two items we picked from the menu not available - the burger and the fish - the two things we wanted! Thats' pretty basic - poor stock control. As we arrived early (2pm) we requested a room with meadow view but recieved a room with town / side view. Unfortunately scaffolding was erected so effectively no view at all. Not an issue as we were passing through but had we been staying longer we would have asked to move.
