Lovely thoughtful host, nothing was too much trouble to make our stay comfortable. Great location, the dock area with loads of shops, restaurants and history, was 5 mins walk. The family room was well equipped, coffee, biscuits, microwave, fridge and kettle. Beds were so comfy. Great value for the price. The host let us know about parking - we parked in the multistory Quay car park which was 5 mins walk, and £15 for 24 hours but there was cheaper parking if you were willing to get up in the morning and feed the meter. The price of parking was more than offset by the good value of the accommodation.

Perfect location for the Tall Ships/Shanty festival. Basic…a little ‘tired’ but clean! Host was super welcoming and friendly. Was lovely having a spot of fresh milk in fridge on arrival. Also microwave in room with crockery/cutlery that folk might find useful…we didn’t use..but we thought it was a nice touch.

Have not given full marks across the board simply because some guests might not like that the room wasnt serviced. Could have done with bits being topped up. We werent THAT bothered and if youre not bothered either, then this B&B will be just fine!

We stayed at Spalite as we had travelled to attend Cheltenham races. Really impressed with the hotel and the hard work that Spencer the owner had put into it. Room was clean with complimentary amenities and was just what we needed. Saplite is in a really good location; right next to the historic docks and comfortable walking distances to the train station, bus station and old local pubs. It is very close to an extremely reasonably priced 24 hour car park. On our second morning we ordered Spalite's cooked breakfast and was very impressed with both the quality and quantity of the food.

There's nothing we didn't like about our stay - It surpassed expectations for the price we paid.

Spencer, the host, was excellent and very helpful and friendly. He also makes a great breakfast which is great value. The location is good and just a short walk to the city centre. Spencer was always available for advice or a chat and he keeps a well stocked bar! Cheers Spencer Pete and Caroline

En suite would have been nice but the bathroom was clean and for the price we have no complaints ar all. As with almost any city centre hotel parking can be tricky and a bit of forward planning is needed. We parked on nearby Sainsburys using the YourParkingSpace app (10 quid for 2 days)

Staff very friendly, the breakfast was exceptional value (£2.50 for a generous beans on toast!), and the room had a small fridge with fresh milk (not hideous UHT little cartons) and bottled water. There was also a microwave and crockery as well as all the usual T&C things, biscuits etc.

The decor is a little dated, especially in the communal areas and the stairs are steep (no lift), but it is a converted Victorian house. It is on quite a noisy road with takeaways and pubs.

Spalite Hotel had a really nice homely feel to it that you just don't get at other places such as roomsbooked or larger chain hotels. There is a small bar and an area downstairs for guests to relax in so that you don't have to sit in your room on your own the whole time. The prices are very reasonable and the owners/staff went out of their way to help me enjoy my stay. Would give a strong recommend to future guests.

For me there was genuinely nothing to dislike about the place.

This is a traditional B&B location but with a high level of personal service. The rooms are older but well kept with all the comforts, and more, of a modern hotel. The small fresh milk bottles were a welcome change to typical cartons. It felt like every effort had been made to make the stay comfortable and well serviced for the guest.

It is an older building and therefore there are the to be expected creaks, bangs and noise from a central location - but everything was done to compensate for this.

Room was quiet, clean and comfortable. Location opposite the Docks meant many options for eating and drinking as well activities and places to visit, also only a short walk into the centre of Gloucester. Host and his family welcoming and happy to share information on things to do and see.

The twin single bedroom was not an issue for us but may be for other couples. Spalite did have rooms with double beds and our hosts would have swapped if requested but we happy with our arrangements and hotels and B&B do need to cater for all, so not a criticism, just something travellers need to be aware of.

The Staff and Owners are so friendly and Kind. They was so helpful with my early arrival and helping to accommodate me. The location is perfect for getting around , with bus stop and taxi office just outside and regular transport links nearby. The addition of items in room such as kettle, microwave, milk , tea and biscuits was lovely warm touch.

This is not a reflection on the Spalite accommodation at all but just to note that is in a local town with pubs and social meetings going on so the outside noise is loud and a little disturbing of an evening.

Spencer runs a wonderful bed and breakfast. He was friendly and helpful. My wife and I enjoyed the cooked to order breakfast. The building is located only a short walk from a bunch of restaurants and bars in the Victorian docks area. The cathedral was also easy to walk to, although a bit further. We would certainly stay again.

The beds were a little soft for my taste, but that is a personal preference. The water pressure was also a little low while we were there. I think that's fine.
