First of all, Ibis moved me to The Holiday Inn because of renovations. This review is about my stay there. we had unpacked all of our belongings when we realised the toilet didn’t flush. The manager moved us to another room which took a while for us to do. The toilet in the next room seemed fine until the morning when it also stopped working. We were then moved to an executive room and were very happy with this due to having to move twice. The rooms were very nice, great breakfast and kind and polite staff.

toilets not working and having to change rooms twice

I kept asking out loud, “How do they do THIS, for the low price?” It staggers me that anyone can furnish the hotel with a bad review; for a few pound one has everything, except shops and restrain one’s doorstep. I love my bathroom pod, the room contains all one needs, the bed was excellent with its memory foam topper on (as many hotels have added now, with bed linens in that ONLY), the bar and food area did just what they ought for a short stay, and staff were delightful. What’s not to like?

Good restaurant in walkable distance…but that would probably treble the price. So, no problems here.

Public areas were very clean. Staff were attentive and polite. They were the best part of the stay. Food was very good and I slept well, so when I need to return to the area, I would definitely consider this property.

What follows is provided in improving what I found to already be a great service: Room clean was not as thorough as I would expect especially during the heightened requirements for Coronovirus. Some parts of the room had not been cleaned for some time. A clear process is required for dealing with a customer who is suspected to be ill or in current times might have Coronovirus. There was a disadvantaged guest who was obviously unwell. The delay in acknowledging then dealing with this almost made me stop eating dinner and deal with it myself. I had to ask if she was a wanderer or a guest as she was not receiving the right attention. I presume it all worked out in the end.

The Ibis Hotel contacted me about 2 weeks before I was due to travel to say the Hotel was closed till later in the year due to a project being carried out and they had rebooked me into the Holiday Inn just up the road from them all terms and conditions the same. So this Rating In NOT for the Ibis and any questions I could/have answered relate to the Holiday Inn Cheltenham/Gloucester.

All good only little complaint was room a little small.

Good size room which was clean, happy to accomodate us bringing our dog, good options for breakfast and were happy to be flexible with a last minute request for a late check out. We were on the ground floor but felt very secure despite the reception being open 24hrs as you need your card to access the reception and again the hall where the rooms are.

We arrived around 7pm and had to wait around as there was no-one on reception and no buzzer to indicate that we had arrived. When they came out from the back they did apologise for the wait and were friendly and polite.

Reception staff were extremely professional, helpful and accommodating. Room was good apart from an awful draft from a vent on the wall and an unclean toilet upon arrival which was bad especially with covid situation! Breakfast was lovely

The cleaner!! she knocked on our room at 11.20am, I called out "one moment please" before I could get my mask to open the door she opened it and went to walk in!! I was extremely annoyed at her manner, I thought I'd made a mistake and it had gone 12pm (check out time) She was quite rude and tutted when I said we wont be long. Absolutely disgusting!! I certainly wouldnt stay again with that attitude, she let the rest of the staff down massively.

room and shower fine as expected and exactly what you need - clean basic and no frills , heard a generator or some noise most of the night but i expect thats part of the building plant room nearby maybe , so that kept one of us awake. also a slamming noise but after i called reception , your excellent receptionist sorted this put immediately , it turned out to be a window on the landing left open and slamming about during the winds. i didnt think to look i was too tired , so not a criticism just comment, breakfast ok a bit pricy as we only needed a bit to eat not full english but fine bed very comfortable and warm enough , just the noise kept me awake

just the generator noise all night but maybe thats the deisign of the building and how its laid out

The room was clean and fresh with comfortable bed good size shower cubicle and powerful.the staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was really a bit of a let down with some items cold and not good quality the scrambled egg was tasteless and crumbly with no real texture i think processed eggs and not fresh the sausages were not good quality coffee was quite bitter. Also the evening menu never changed with little choices of food, what there was,, was good especially the salad with chicken and the tikka massala was tasty

The breakfast could have been much better ie everything Hot and use better quality food, the scrambled egg was tasteless and crumbly with no choice of fried egg or poached, cumberland sausages were not good either.

Room was very clean , the bathroom too. The floor was clean and all the bedding. The shower was amazing, nice big cubicle and had a very powerful shower. The staff were very friendly, all i spoke to were helpful and polite. Check inn was easy and quick. The down stairs, lift and the lobby were all very clean There was plenty of hand gel and notices about covid. Nice comfortable bed.

Breakfast was not good. The times of breakfast are 6.30am until midday. I went down at 7am and some of the food was cold (even though they were under hot lamps). The hash browns were not covered up and they were dried out. Found breakfast to be disappointing , i normally don't book breakfast, however on this occasion the breakfast was included in the price.

The room was clean & comfortable as were other parts of the hotel. The room was at the back so was quiet and big enough to feel comfortable. Shower worked well, bed was comfortable. Staff were pleasant & helpful. There was adequate parking.

Everything was fine, it was an Ibis, functional, well designed, cheap. If coming from the centre of Gloucester access was not obvious, you have to turn left at the junction near the entrance, travel to the previous roundabout and come back because it was not possible to reach the entrance across the other side of the dual carriageway. Coming from the motorway access is obvious.
