Rooms were clean, big and had everything we needed. Staff were polite and helpful. The outside patio area looks great and it is ideal to enjoy some drinks in the sun. The food truck was a nice bonus, but I didn't get the opportunity to try the food. We had three rooms, stayed two nights and were there for a wedding. For the same stay at the premier inn, it would have cost an additional £210, so I was very happy with our decision. Decent smart TV's in room, where i was able to sign into nextflix and watch a movie. Also remembered to sign out on leaving :). Would i stay here again? Yes, I certainly would.
Walls seemed a bit thin. Could hear neighbours and doors slamming during the night. Hand soap dispenser didn't work. No breakfast option currently due to refurbishment. Perhaps consider utilising the food truck to provide a simple weekend breakfast menu. Breakfast could be enjoyed on the large patio or inside in the bar area.

The Tipple Bar for us was a lovely surprise, where we could go and sit and relax, either in the sunshine or the lounge. We've stayed before so mostly knew what to expect. Large rooms and great service from Hayley. Breakfast at the Garden Centre just down the road was definitely a hit! We will be back again!
Booking in wasn't quite so easy as we had asked for two rooms together when booking as we had our 16 year old grandson with us but were given one upstairs and one downstairs. I expect this was due to booking done by their head office and not the hotel itself. However, once the young man receptionist got his head round it, he managed to sort it out!

Staff were really friendly and helpful. Good price as we'd booked it the day before arrival. Restaurant and bar are not open yet, there is a "tipple bar" for bottles of drink which is pretty good and a food truck. There is a pub with full restaurant a 15 minute walk away and reception has lots of taxi numbers if you want to go into Gloucester (about £10 in a taxi).
Recieved an email as we were on our way there stating there was ongoing renovation works and they apologised for the noise, which concerned us. Turned out to not be going on when we were there but wasn't the best email to recieve on your way to a hotel for a hopefully relaxing weekend! Appears that most have been done now so maybe they just need to rewrite the email to guests. Walls are a bit thin. Could hear next door snoring, speaking and whenever their phone buzzed. Pack earplugs if you're a light sleeper as did wake us up the first night without them.

Location was great. Room was also very nice. Good bar area - inside and out. Great shower
No breakfast but there is a shop nearby (5 mins away) called Janes Pantry which was very good. There is no real restaurant but there is basic bar food available from a trailer in the beer garden but the was only really burgers/pizzas etc if you like that kind of thing. The room was well presented and clean and the shower was excellent however a couple of minor points could do with attention: the mirror in the bathroom has no light near it so when you are trying to shave, you can hardly see because you're in shadow. I know my partner would not have been happy as she would not have been able to see to put on her make up! also the towells, whilst in a nice rack, were the wrong side of the shower door to reach easily

This was our first time staying in the Oakwood Hotel. We found our room to be of the highest standard. The bed was very comfortable and the room was very spacious and clean. The bathroom was tastefully done. We knew before we arrived that at the moment there was no restaurant. However, there was a van outside serving various food, which the receptionist said you could bring back into the hotel room. It was nice in our room to find table and chairs to each our breakfast which we had brought with us, and any other meals that we might want to eat there. When we arrived on the Friday late afternoon, we were greeted by a lovely lady called Alice, who couldn't have been more helpful. When we departed on the Monday morning we asked Alice when would the restaurant be open. She told us that hopeful it should be open July/August. We told her that if we ever came down to Gloucester to visit our family again, we would certainly stay in this hotel.
My husband had a wet shave, but he would normally bring his electric shaver. We noticed in the bathroom that there was no shaver plugs. Not an issue really as he said that he could just have a wet shave.

Due to a mix-up, this booking was arranged by another hotel that could no longer accommodate. It was very near where I needed to be, it was clean and tidy, the facilities were comfortable enough (with generous tea, coffee etc), and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful, even at gone midnight! It was also good of them to take a last-minute booking at a very reasonable rate. Particular praise goes to the very nice night manager who booked me in.
Nothing that The Oakwood was responsible for - any issues were with the original hotel!

On arrival reception staff went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable so helpful ,room was great clean and comfortable everything you need for a short or long stay .The Tipple Bar was very welcoming and the staff are very freindly felt very welcome .The food wagon is a great touch for the hotel and again staff so welcoming nothing too much trouble food is great .In general we would recommend this Hotel for a great stay being for business or leisure .As it is a budget hotel I feel some of the reviews given very unfair. Also there is plenty of parking available .
Nothing cant fault anything going back in December ....

The hotel looks and feels recently largely refurbished. An interesting and slightly quirky combination of a bar, street food van on the patio and rooms. The quality of the room was very good. Staff very personable and friendly. Good value
There are no breakfast facilities at all on site. Staff helpfully provided directions to a good local coffee shop only a few minutes away. The main building has several changes of level that I think would make access for those with mobility difficulties hard and would rely on easy to access rooms being allocated on request by the staff.

Liked the up to date plumbing systems very good modern shower plenty of hot water
There was a musty smell in the room, even with the windows open, could not find the cause of it, the room and bathroom very clean, did get a good nights sleep, also they need some temperature control on their hot water supply , very hot and all most scalded me in the shower, no instructions on how to operate the shower, am surprised somebody has not been harmed by the temperature of their hot water,

The Staff were Great , very welcoming and friendly. The Beer Garden and Food Trailer was great too
The Twin Room needs updating , Beds were not long enough for someone 6 ft tall , the room noise from next door was poor could here people talking late at night needs sound proofing , The Bar was nice but the drinks were like London Prices compared to the Beefeater less than a mile away on average drinks were £1.50 - £ 2.00 a pint more which for the location was ripping customers off
