We stayed one night for a break driving from southern England to Central Scotland. Staff were lovely. It feels a bit old school when you arrive but that is what makes it great. The room was really spacious. The bathroom looked like it had been recently redone with a large shower. My kids loved the bunk beds. Dinner was nice and very reasonable, with the cost being covered mostly by half board. Wait staff were really friendly and lovely with our kids. Food was much better than I had expected. Breakfast was included and was proper Scottish, generous servings. Nice setting, kids loved seeing rabbits in the garden whilst we ate in the breakfast room. It was all very easy and everything we needed. Really lovely and has made me swear off getting AirBnBs 🙂

The heating was up a bit too high but in these times, it felt like quite a luxury!

So nice to be able to stay at a hotel that accepts pets. The room was clean and the bathroom looked like its just been refurbished, very modern. The lady on reception was very welcoming and helpful. We had everything we needed in the room.

Our room was right next to a door in the corridor so when people walked through it always slammed loudly which kept upsetting our 2 labs and woke us all up during the night. 2 of the pet bowls were dirty. My kids found it hard to sleep as the room was quite hot. We stayed in August so summer tog duvets would have been nice.

It’s a nice vibe here. Pretty gardens, relaxed environment, dog friendly, good food, friendly staff. Our room was clean, comfortable, and smelled notably of soap and clean laundry. It really just felt warm and comforting. Although it’s true the furniture and decor is a little dated, it gives the place a kind of relaxed charm - like staying at a kindly old lady’s house.

The walls are a little thin - I could basically hear every word the guy in the next room was saying, but he was particularly loud and booming to be fair. The windows have limiters on them which was kind of frustrating as we were really warm and would have liked a bit more of a breeze in our room.

lovely looking period property, parked right outside front door. being near Gretna Green & the M6, we stopped overnight on our way to North Scotland. The hotel was lovely and warm, water piping hot, bedding comfy and really clean. we were late arriving and the receptionist was very friendly. I asked for decaf coffee for the room and the receptionist found it immediately. There was a long breakfast menu including smoked salmon! We had a full Scottish breakfast, our order was taken and delivered really quickly, there was also cereals and yoghurt for self serve along with tea and coffee. We though it was excellent value for money. thank you we enjoyed the stay

Room was nice. Had a great night's sleep. Nice meal at dinner. Star of the show was Nicole. Great welcome when we arrived. Lovely and cheery young lady

The door to side of our bedroom (room 30) people were using to go in and out for drinks or allowing dogs out but most of all folk playing football in that square. Plus folk just let the door go so it would be constantly banging. Breakfast. No one there to greet us. No fresh fruit or natural yogurt, only fruit yogurts. No croissants or pastries. I ordered mushrooms with my breakfast got tomatoes instead and everything except the sausages were luke warm. So out of the 4 things ordered, I only got 3. Surely its not that hard when such a small order? Nice orange juice though

Breakfast was superb, two choices we had were the smoked salmon on toast and the full cooked breakfast. Both were the best we can remember having had. The room was a good size and very clean and tidy, especially for a pet friendly room, and a nice touch was that eating and drinking bowls were supplied for our four legged daughter.

A bit of well meant feedback would be that I felt that the bar area could be made to be a little more "warm" and "cozy"...or "atmospheric", in order to entice people in to spend an evening there...both locals and guests...

lovely property, spacious rooms, breakfast room spacious

the breakfast was absolutely lovely and plentiful but we had evening meal too after the breakfast we were really looking forward to our Eve meal, and was so disappointed, the portions were child like, even the dessert was tiny portions, we all left hungry and headed for the co-op to fill up on snacks. the Eve meal was tasty just not nearly enough unless you were 5. very disappointed especially not only the amount of food was tiny but because of the cost too, expensive for what we got. we saw someone’s burger which looked filling so the second night we all had a burger- not what you really want to eat after your wedding but!!!!!!! needs must

the staff are always very friendly and accommodating with any enquiry's or concerns you may have. The room was very clean and comfortable, perfectly located for motorway. free carpark. Pet friendly hotel. good shower and comfortable bed.

one very minor problem. My room was on the ground floor , next to the carpark. The shower had a large frosted window. No curtain. At night, when the bathroom light was on , anyone in the carpark would have been able to see the person having a shower. This was reported to the staff and was being dealt with-adding a curtain.

The staff were absolutely amazing. Tina thank you so much for all your kindness. You made our morning breakfast such a pleasure. You are an asset to the hotel. Reception staff are lovely and friendly. They all cant do enough for you. Very dog friendly. The bed and bowls are a lovely touch. Thank you. Very pleasurable stay.

The rooms are very dated but very spacious. They are clean and comfortable. Windows are a bit dodgy to open/close. The rooms are very warm but they provide a fan. No food available in the evening.

The hotel looks attractive with free parking. The breakfast was good and the WiFi worked well. There is a bar and restaurant.

The room was rather tired and a mysterious sound of constant water running which sounded like a shower kept me awake. Presumably something to do with the plumbing! The TV in the bar was playing a very loud pop music channel not conducive to a quiet drink and we had to seek out a quieter lounge area. The breakfast lounge was rather chilly as the door to the outside was kept open.
