It's a hotel is what it is

Can't criticise the hotel really just the inconsiderate guests, I was in room 22 downstairs as the hotel is old it has floorboards, two contractors arrived late at 12 midnight, one was in room 27 which was above me, he apparently was putting his cloths away crashing and banging draws and cupboards then sounded like he had the telly on load, by 2am still not asleep went to reception to complain the night manager went straight to the room to sort and apparently the guy had his mate in there who was staying in another room chatting away, was impressed how hotel manager sorted.

It was quirky: from walking past the squash courts (although you could avoid them!), to get to your room, to the funny window bay in the room. There was no cloney feeling like in some chains. The room was well appointed: I loved the bathroom with it’s good water pressure helping to run a bath swiftly. Everything was clean and the lighting was great - not that choice between Blackpool illumination bright, or fall over dim! Another big plus was usb sockets for charging so I could charge watch and phone overnight even though I’d forgotten my plug adapter. I ate in the restaurant - the food was amazing and they made a special sauce for me to cope with an intolerance. The biggest plus this hotel has is its staff. I met the front of house team leader, two of her daughters working there, and about four other staff members. All were unfailingly polite and friendly- it was like staying at a friend’s place in terms of welcome and care shown.

Nothing I can think of!

Room had a fridge, which seems to be a new service. Also had complimentary bottled water along with the usual tea, coffee etc. Shower was easy to use and its mixer worked fine.

The price of a pint in Grimsby seems to be the same as in Manchester. The nearest chippy had closed post Covid, as had a couple of my preferred Cafes (did find a new Cafe next to the closed chippy though). Still a lot of voids in the shopping centre, but this and part of the surrounding area are being re-developed.

The staff. Every member of staff i engaged with were friendly, extremely helpful and courteous. They would stop what they were doing to serve and help me. The cleaning staff would come into our room on a daily basis, clean up and fill up the tea and coffee facilities. This may sound as though it is the same as other establishments but they always asked if the replenishments were sufficient and did we need any more of anything. They all engaged in conversations and seemed interested in what I had to say.

Nothing. Our room was in the coach house, separate from the main building but it was lovely and quiet, very roomy and comfortable. We had a separate bath and shower in a lovely big bathroom. The towels were fluffy and soft and the shower wash which they provided was lovely and fragrant.

we were there for a party and the bar and function area are lovely. Staff very friendly and good was amazing. Lots of choice for breakfast.

Beyond the reception and bar area it is very dated. rooms and toilets really need a spruce up. Stairs and walk ways do feel like you are in a leisure centre rather than a hotel. I complained about the shower as we left as it was very sparse and difficult to use both times I used it. The receptionist told me I was probably using it at a busy times and no one usually has a problem.

Room was fine for the price, Hotel Staff very helpful and to be honest, probably the best customer service for a good few years of traveling. We stopped in the hotels annex just behind the hotel, Room 9, nice room good tea and coffee facilities and a big surprise was a few rounds of biscuits. Not many hotels provide them anymore. Drinks at the bar was fair based on the fact its a hotel. We paid £10.90 for a Premium Gin (Hendricks) with fever tree tonic and a large bottle of cider.

Only 2 small negatives and that was the fact the room had no Air Con and the curtains could do with a look at to prevent the sun wakening you up at 5am - (The room also had a fan and iron / iron board) - We would stop here again if in the area.

Hotel entrance, lobby and dining/bar area are grand and impressive. Staff were all friendly and helpful. Rooms were good size and all clean. Breakfast was generous and tasty. All in all a very good stay

Large double doors on ground floor leading to hotel lobby betray the class of the entrance. Not major but instantly makes the interior feel more tired than the entrance.

I'm a regular visit to Millfields as my mum lives locally and I'm always happy with my stay. Staff are friendly and helpful, breakfast is excellent and Sunday lunch is a real treat. My usual request for a quiet, upstairs room is always met and the room I was allocated on my trip in December 2021 exceeded my expectations. Thank you Millfields, it was much appreciated.

There's nothing I don't like about Millfields

I had the executive room which was phenomenal. The hotel definitely lived up to its character, old and rustic and that old castle feel to it. My room had traditional furniture in it with a four poster bed. My sister and other family members were staying in large double and triple rooms and believe me, the rooms were large. The food and breakfast was extremely fab....... The staff were very pleasant and very helpful and made me feel like royalty.

Absolutely nothing.....I cannot fault anything.
