The hotel and location are fantastic, plenty to see and activities to do in the area or at the hotel itself. Breakfast’s were the best we have ever had and we have been travelling internationally for 4 years in is our fourth trip to England.

Maybe the questioning of not tipping at the end of our stay. In Australia it’s not expected, although it is more common now. We would only tip for exceptional well beyond what would be expected and being paid for that person(s) service. So if the service is great, which it was, but the prices are also in the top bracket of what you are paying, we believe we have paid the correct amount. Our expectations matched our experiences but not to give additional tips. My wife was surprised to have even been asked. It was “the” only thing that was a negative. If it happened a second time we wouldn’t return again.

The hotel is stunning and we received a warm welcome. We were shown to our rooms by Trevor, who was a font of knowledge about the Estate, and set the scene for our two night stay. The vibe was relaxed and the staff were friendly and attentive. Our room was stunning with a view of the deer park and had one of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept in. We made good use of the well equipped gym and relaxed in the spa. The grounds are large and definitely worth exploring... particularly the extensive kitchen garden, woodland hammocks and wild swimming. We booked room only so made our way to the other side of the estate for delicious eggs on toast at the Bivouac Café. I can highly recommend Chef's Table tasting menu experience.

My only niggle was the way the service charge is applied to the final bill at check out. I'm more than happy to pay a service charge on food and beverages, but it was a surprise to see the charge applied to accommodation as well. I've since found out that the service charge policy is detailed on the Swinton Estate website, however I do think more could be done to draw attention to this aspect of the final bill and that the charge is discretionary.

I love this place - the spa is extremely nice with many different options for sauna and steam room; Samuel's is a nice place to eat and drinks in the drawing room beforehand a pleasure; beautiful walks on and off the property abound; the rooms in the carriage house are recently updated and extremely comfortable; staff is very pleasant. The spa also features a light menu. Fresh produce from kitchen gardens is used throughout the dining and that's lovely.

The Terrace restaurant, the less formal option, could be better run and the menu improved - I would prefer a simpler menu to small plates; the spa is not huge and can become crowded; our room had a huge glass window, which was attractive, but it did become quite warm in the room.

What a wonderful place to stay. Room was large and bed comfy , staff cant do enough for you spa is free to use and no need to book, pool was great also able to get a drink brought to you whilst in the spa a really nice touch. Food in the Hotel was beautiful and reasonable for a 5 star hotel , breakfast expensive at £35 per person not worth it. Food in the on site bar/restaurant was also very good and not expensive given the location. Grounds fantastic we walked over 6 miles through them all it was amazing

Having to walk round the Hotel to find someone to order a drink, bar sometimes not attended resulting in pressing a button and waiting and on occasion waiting long enough to think no one is coming. Appreciate during the week its not busy but in a 5 star hotel you should be waited on always and not have to walk about looking for staff.

The setting is gorgeous and very impressive already from arrival. The building are beautiful and interior beautifully curated. We didn't use the spa, but walked around the grounds extensively and loved it. We also had a hawk walk with the falconer, who was super knowledgeable and passionate: we really enjoyed it and will never forget it. Dinner at the Terrace was superb. We really look forward to coming back to Swinton Park.

Communication before arrival could be improved a bit, but nothing major.

The Baron room in the coach house block was beautifully refurbished, very comfortable. Great bathroom and shower. Dinner in the Terrace was exceptionally good, we had a number of the small plates, all delicious. Great massage in the spa.

Too hot in the rooms and restaurant, I think we have all got used to cooler homes and this was very hot. Was able to turn the radiator off however. Everything was extra, booking through booking.com was room only, dinner extra, spa entrance extra, treatment extra breakfast extra. Came to £600 for a night which is too much.

Beautiful setting & expansive grounds, the historical aspect, the deer outside, beautiful rooms with fresh flowers everywhere

I tried to get a reservation for a falconry experience via phone call and emails over a period of 5 days before we arrived. Nothing was done, unavailable on check-in, and just a ‘oh, we’re sorry’ from the front desk. Wasn’t impressed at £25/head spa entrance fee as a guest of the hotel, this really should be included at the price and in a hotel of this standard.

Superb stay for my wife's birthday. The whole place is wow! It has an old-fashioned charm, but with very up-to-date facilities. Our room was incredible - huge with a lovely big bathroom and shower, very comfortable bed and huge windows with a lovely view. There was no noise from anywhere inside or outside of the hotel overnight which was great. Breakfast was excellent with a huge range on the buffet; we didn't actually order any cooked food. We also had a lovely afternoon tea. We did lots of lovely walks around the parkland, went wild swimming and spent 3 hours in the spa which was absolutely fantastic (the car park at the spa looked busy, but it felt quiet inside) - loved the indoor pool, natural pool and hydrotherapy pool as well as the steam rooms and saunas - there were also lots of areas to relax in and the changing rooms were immaculate. We had a drink in the Terrace Bar which was lovely - we just wish it had been warm enough to sit outside as it was a beautiful space. The staff are all lovely and very helpful. it was a bonus for us to have plenty of EV charging on site which was very easy to access and use.

Firstly book direct do not use Booking.com as you will not get access to the spa area included! Been here several times still has a feeling of grandeur lovely grounds to wander around and amazing spa, the salt steam room was a favourite. The cinema room has lots of board games, chess and billiards and the drawing rooms are very stately and comfortable with fresh flowers daily from the gardens. We stayed in one of the new rooms across from the main building below the clock tower which was very sumptuous under floor heating and a butlers pantry with complimentary snacks. Good buffet breakfast extra £22. Enjoyed an AF gin in the bar and bought a bottle from the shop, the toiletries are also available to buy with a 10% discount. I took a wild swim in the lake which is a new addition and the staff were very polite and obliging throughout our stay

Thermometer missing from wild swimming lake. Bar prices differed on the drinks list to the bar where they were 30% more expensive and the bar staff seemed inexperienced she actually said it wasn’t her normal role she was just covering and there is no real atmosphere in the bar but that is okay if you want a quiet civilised drink and read. Samuels restaurant menu looked expensive £38 for pigeon so we ate at a pub in Masham

The whole experience was good, bedroom, bathroom, dining, public areas all very good. We attended a private function and stayed an extra night to enjoy the falconry and afternoon tea. The falconry was fabulous. Mandy the falconer was brilliant and so were Ellie and Neeka the owls we flew.

We only had choice of one restaurant which had limited menu but what we did have was good quality. The room service was a little disappointing as our tray was left for 24 hours before being collected despite the room having been serviced by cleaning staff in the morning and 2 requests made by us for it to be cleared. Also the milk in the room had not been refreshed and we had to ring for fresh milk at 9.30pm. However, the very helpful lady on Reception sorted it out & bought up fresh milk herself.
