I have nothing but praise for this hotel! The staff were extremely welcoming and could not do enough for you and even made little cute jokes at things which I loved! There was always someone at reception during normal working hours and they all knew the answers to my questions. I specifically booked this hotel because it was near a wedding venue I was attending a few miles away and it had a pool as I love to exercise and swim. The pool was wonderful especially considering its a hotel pool which is kind of out in the sticks a bit. You need to book a slot before going but I was the only one in there all three times I went in. It was very clean and was warm, just what I needed! The breakfast, well I do love a full English and this place did not disappoint there either! There was a choice of things from the menu and you could also have cereal or fruit if you are more of a small squirrel and dont eat many carbs! The breakfast was hot both days I had it and the restaurant was very clean, staff were always on hand to serve and were very friendly! One of the best hotel breakies I have had! The room was lovely and warm but not too hot and for a few days stay had exactly what is needed, the bed was lovely and cozy and the towels were fluffy and large! The TV is kind of useless but I am used to expensive surround sound, luckily I bought my ipad and ended up using that to watch a film on as the sound was better than the TV but lets be honest you dont go to a hotel to watch TV! Parking was excellent, free and on the hotel grounds so no lugging suitcases around. All in all I would 1000% stay here again, lovely clean room, brilliant pool, lovely staff, nice area (if you dont mind driving over hills), an example of what a hotel should be! Thank you to all of the staff for making me feel so welcomed and looked after!

I mentioned the TV but again you dont go to a hotel for the TV!

An extensive choice of breakfast options. The attention to detail was outstanding. The staff remembered all the little preferences. In snowy weather this was the ideal location for walking into Bellingham. The snowy landscape was beautiful, viewed from my cosy room. I had expected a tiny place for one person. There was plenty of space for reading and writing. I've come home with far less work to accomplish for next weekend. The swimming was an extra delight. I haven't enjoyed such a quiet, calm swim in a very long time!

A disabled guest may have had trouble stepping into the bath for a shower. There was a chip in the wash basin, but these things are tiny details.

Breakfast was good with very generous portions and lots of choice. Toast was not brilliant, partly the bread but mostly just not toasted enough. Poached eggs and even scrambled not drained enough so toast under ended up unpleasant soggy mess, which was a shame as the eggs were just right. The fan in the dining room rumbled and woke us early (Room 1). Only happened on 2nd morning and we realised cause and advised staff requesting it not be used while guests sleeping! There is also a high pitched whine/hum. The source is behind the shutter on the left side of the rear window. It didn't stop us sleeping but was an irritation. We weren't there to watch TV but we couldn't make it work unless we used Netflix! No instructions made it guess work, so just as well we didn't want it!

Pointed out some niggles but all in all the stay was great. The location perfect for our trip. The staff were excellent and I've pointed out the niggles so that good becomes excellent for others.

The Riverdale Hotel & Spa whilst not cheap it does offer good value for money compared to some other overight accommodatiuon stayed at Whilst walking the Pennine Way. A location was provided where I could dry and warm my boots which was very much appracited. The location for those walking the Pennine Way is ideal being only 200 metres from the satart of the next section. The roo was large with a comfortable double bed ideasl for those with weary legs. The evening meal was plentiful and of a good standard. All staff were friendly although I did find one a little curt.

The breakfast was not opened until 8am when breakfast was first served. I would have thought this being a larger establishment it would have been possible to offer and earlier breakfast for thse walking the Pennine Way.

A great view out onto the green and a great big comfy bed. Would definitely recommend!

N/a - everything I don’t like is in London. The light pollution The constant drone of the traffic The hustle and bustle Police sirens every hour The low-trust society The knife crime The grooming gangs The honour killings That kind of stuff. Aye, This hotel ticks the boxes 100%. Will be recommending to friends

Amazing location, beautiful views. So nice to have a balcony- what a rare treat. I loved having a cup of coffee there in the morning. The food in the restaurant was stunning and amazing value. Every course was really tasty with perfect portion sizes and fantastic service. The staff were all excellent, very friendly and helpful. The newly refurbished bathroom looked lovely and was super clean.

Unfortunately, the pool needs to close. It is very run down with mould on the rim. There was mould on the tiles I could wipe off with my finger, meaning it just hadn’t been cleaned. Not ideal and in fact took away from the overall experience of the hotel. If there is a plan to develop any part of the hotel, the balconies would be a great focus. The sides need making more private, so you can’t see straight into next doors balcony, the rails need painting and the floor replacing. This really is an amazing feature and wouldn’t cost much too much to spruce up. Overall, a really lovely hotel.

Stayed at the hotel after a long day on the Pennine Way. Staff on reception were friendly and helpful. I had thought I’d booked a single room and was pleasantly surprised to have a good sized double room with a bath, luxury! The room was clean, warm and well equipped. I had my evening meal at the hotel and the quality and quantity was very good with a good choice. Breakfast was excellent again with a good selection to choose from.

No drying room, however I didn’t ask.

Excellent food...breakfast and dinners. V comfortable room. But the best thing was the staff. They couldn't have been more helpful. I'd friends with dogs who joined me in the bar and another night, 9 non residents were able to join me for dinner with 24 hours notice.

Don't arrive thinking it's a Spa Hotel. The warm pool is a good size and welcome relaxation after being on the moor, but it's functional rather than luxurious.

Really enjoyed a one night off season stay in a lovely location. Perfect for what I needed. Think I was upgraded to a better room as it was very quiet. Nice to have the option for a free swim and sauna. Good locally brewed beer on tap in the bar. Great walks in the area. Friendly helpful staff.

The bar meal wasn't the greatest and not a huge choice for vegetarians, but understandable given it was off season. Its an old building and some minor renovation or updating of the decor would be worthwhile, though many will like the traditional country look.

Food is amazing, really thought out, and well presented. While the building is a bit worn, it adds to the character of the place. The staff are amazing - I can't emphasise this enough. They are friendly and approachable, and you can have a laugh with them. I've been here several times and would always come back.

There was a bit of an issue with hot water (but not heating), which the staff were very apologetic for and did manage to resolve. The pool was uncomfortably cool, but I understood that it was connected to the same boiler issue.
