Lovely homely hotel in the countryside perfect for a couple of nights stay to attend a nearby wedding. We had a double room with a small 'annex' room (with an additional single bed) at the back, and ensuite. Bathroom was lovely and clean, shampoo and body wash included, nice shower. Our windows faced the 'main road' although there was no noise or disturbances at all so that was good. Bed was reasonably comfortable, nice for a couple days, cleaning bedding and towels provided. Our trip was made perfect by the lovely staff who run the hotel, and the breakfast!! The breakfast was amazing; a cooked meal to order with a selection of fruit, yoghurt, and cereal items in the meantime. Little garden and seating outside is perfect for a sunny day, plus beautiful countryside only a stones throw away. Plenty parking in a private car park, easy to access.

Lovely historic building to stay in, quirky features and rooms which make the experience a pleasure rather than the featureless bland corporate hotels. Owners and staff were great, breakfast was delicious with fresh fruit, Greek yoghurt pots with homemade flavourings, locally sourced bread was delicious, as were the local sausages and mushrooms. Good car park next door. Great views, countryside, and walks nearby, including an easy walk to the Rivermoon Thai Restaurant, which was sublime. Would recommend staying at The Chequers Hotels.

Excellent. Excellent Excellent. We booked the hotel as we were attending our cousin’s wedding at Fitzleroi Barn. The location was near station and the wedding venue and it was just perfect so peaceful and serene compared to the hustle and bustle of London. They even provided vegan breakfast for us and it was just superb . Loved every bit of bit.

We didn’t know how beautiful the location would be and had already booked an early train ticket back to London. I’m still regretting this.

Our stay was not like being in a hotel. It was like staying with old friends. The owners were so friendly.loved the warm cosy atmosphere so much nicer than the cold clinical next patient please service you sometimes get in larger hotels. The hotel was easy to get to by either path from station or path from main road leading to bus stops for bus I to Worthing or Midhurst directions. The weather was warm and welcoming outside and and this was matched by the atmosphere inside. Some people may like the bare cold surgery type surroundings of major hotel chains but my wife and I loved the warm inviting bits and pieces that made you feel a welcome guest in this lived in building that had an interesting story to tell. Our room was spotless with 4 poster bed and beams in the roof.We had a great break and hope to go back again to this hotel as we found it so restful .Went to fantastic meal at White Heart Stopham bridge on day 1 then visited The garden centre with train later finishing off with walk along path from garden centre through woods to the hotel.Next day we walked along river Arun to RSB sanctuary at Pulborough Brooks. Then next day train to Amberley Station walk to film set location type village of Amberley .After that we walked along river to Arundel had a meal in Black Rabbit pub walked around large lake in Arundel park.Last travelling day we visited the local antiques capital Petworth by bus ,visited a couple of local churches then made our way home by bus via Midhurst /Cowdray ruins then Guildford..Had a really great memorable time!

Only there for 3 nights would have loved to stay longer but other things to do at the moment but we shall return.

The owners are lovely, really nice to chat with them. The property is in a good location - great for visiting surrounding areas like Arundel and Chichester etc. There are also some very lovely walks and its in beautiful countryside. Our room was facing the main road but to be honest that didn't bother us at all and there wasn't that much traffic. Breakfast was AMAZING - great choice, breakfast room is lovely. Excellent value for money.

Nothing really but we found the bed slightly uncomfortable. Think it was a spring mattress and it did 'ping' a bit when you moved about but someone else might think differently.

Unfortunately buttons above are not working, but Lissette and John were excellent hosts, facilities were good, nice light breakfast room and lounges, cleanliness excellent, comfort very good, value for money fine, location very handy for a number of attractions in West Sussex e.g Leonardslee Gardens, Parham House and Gardens, Arundel Castle, Pulborough Wild Brooks RSPB and much more, but we were only there for 3 nights! Breakfast menu had plenty of variety and was presented piping hot and nicely cooked. Decor and storage in bedroom was good. List of recommended restaurants for evening meal was very helpful.

Nothing to dislike.

The hotel did have a nice homely feel to it when you think of a English countryside hotel I think this is what you would have in mind. The owners (I believe they are husband and wife) were very welcoming and made me feel like home.

There were two things that I did like about the hotel. One was the location of my room, there were not too many busy roads in this town but my room was facing the busy road so I heard traffic the entire night. And the second was the bed itself it wasn't very comfortable. If one or the other was different I could have overlooked it but they just added to my dislike.

The breakfast was delicious, the dining room very attractive, the food and service, excellent. The room we were allocated, and lounge, were both tasteful and attractive, and the garden very pleasant.

No open bar or food other than breakfast. We were aware that the kitchen was not open other than for breakfast, but not aware that the bar would be always closed (although the delightful proprietors were happy to bring drinks into the lounge for us). I am sure the owner's had very sound reasons for this pruning of the facilities, but would love to think they might review the decision in future.

Lovely, typical country hotel/B&B, complete with creaky floorboards and classic English charm. Friendly owners/staff, excellent breakfast.

The hotel was tricky to find, even with an accurate satnav. Arriving after dark, there is no outside lighting or lit-up signage anywhere, so even when crawling along, we missed it a couple of times. I had the impression online that the hotel had a guests' bar, so being unable to pull up a stool for a nightcap was a small disappointment. Not the hotel's fault, of course, but the closure of the A29 right on its doorstep caused us some navigation issues, so be aware of this if staying here.

Hotel in great location and at a good level of comfort. This is important in an area with a dearth of hotels suitable when attending events at Goodwood. Room was well appointed and very cosy. Breakfast very good and served promptly. Best yoghurt I have had anywhere! Very good parking.

Like all old buildings it has its quirks..... step into room and very low entrance to en-suite bathroom although the rooms themselves had good high ceilings. When we went the route to the main road was shut due to repairs required (apparently had been for some time) - would have been nice to hve been warned as the diversion was not clearly signposted and went through some very small pot-holed roads!
