Room 12 at the top of the building had lovely sea view, was large and comfortable. Good selection of tea, coffee, etc in the room. Bed was comfortable, room clean although quite warm. We were advised that the lounge area with bar would close if there were there was no-one it in but we would still be welcome to use the chairs, garden, etc. We came back from dinner around 9pm and the lounge area was dark and the bar closed. We couldn't find a light for the lounge area so ventured to the garden which was also pitch black. Some low lighting in the lounge area or solar lighting in the garden would have helped considerably. We sat out for about 30 mins but it was so dark we were nervous of tripping or falling on our way back to the rooms. Breakfast was lovely, full English, however the coffee was very weak and would advise ordering tea instead. The accommodation was in a great location for the town and was quiet in the evening.

We had no toilet paper on arrival although the lovely lady on reception sought some for us immediately. The toilet didn't flush particularly well and we needed to pour a kettle of cold water with each flush to ensure the waste (just paper) was cleared. Couldn't report to reception when discovered as was after 10pm and no-one available. Reported to reception on leaving. Shower has no pressure, just a dribble, probably due to being at the top of the building.

Initially unable to locate the car park, but got there in the end it is actually directly opposite the hotel in Pound rd. Friendly greeting on arrival. Room on second floor, no lift. Room faced the main road so noisy first thing in the morning, as it's a busy road into Lyme Regis. Windows are double glazed. Medium sized room, small en suite with shower. Coffee, tea etc available. Decided to eat in the restaurant our first night, busy, food very good best chips I have had in a long time, the lamb, although a little pink, was delicious. No room for desert. The hotel is situated at the top of Silver St, only a short stroll into the town, decent walk back! Good choice for breakfast.

Nothing really, except it was a little noisy as a main route into Lyme.

It’s in a good location away from the town centre and has a free private car park opposite. The rear garden is lovely and the room was comfortable. The breakfast was very good. There is a steep walk up from the sea front but this is the geography of this seaside town.

It is a very old building so some things can be forgiven but some of the corridors and walls could do with redecoration. Standard things like empty soap containers in the room could have been avoided. The evening meal was good not great. There was a long wait for courses and the main meal. Which annoyed some diners.

we received very friendly welcome and enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere. Our dogs were made very welcome and even received a sausage each for breakfast. The location is good. it’s enough out of town to have ample parking and yet it’s an easy walk down to the town and sea. Just around the corner is woodland where the dogs can run and from this a level path beside the river all the way to the centre of Lyme Regis which we really enjoyed. We will definitely return for longer next time.

This hotel is in the heart of Lyme Regis and all the local amenities. We were welcomed by a lovely lady who explained the set up, booked our breakfast and showed us the room. What a personal service. The room was clean and well laid out. For a charming old building all the necessary things were there. The breakfast room was open and had a great view. Our breakfast was excellent: the ingredients local and well presented. Thank you for a lovely stay.

We need an extension lead for the kettle - we had to plug it in on the floor to reach the socket.

We loved the location and presentation in the reception areas. The staff were all amazing and the views from our two large windows in the room were beautiful out over the sea. Good size room with everything we needed. So welcoming and friendly. Parking directly opposite the hotel. Dog friendly with a gorgeous spacious garden for him to run around in. Nice, well stocked bar in the hotel and the food was really good, especially the breakfast. Can’t believe this was only a 2 star, definitely deserves a higher rating, would highly recommend this to anyone with or without a dog. Oh and the beds are sooo comfy. Thanks for hosting us and making us feel so welcome 💖 Lyme Regis is a lovely place to visit.

Absolutely nothing ! There’s a little bit of a hill back up to the hotel if we had to find something, but nothing that would put us off staying again.

The Mariners is in a lovely location at the top end of a town (so up a big hill on your return!) The staff were very friendly and very helpful throughout our stay. Our room was very comfortable and had amazing views over the sea. The curtains are not however black out ones so the sunshine came pouring in at 6am - the only downside! Lovely comfy bed. Shower wasn't the most powerful but ok for our stay. Big highlight was breakfast which was MASSIVE. The cooked options were brilliant and service was great. I would go back again for breakfast alone.

Due to age of building it is quite noisy when you move around and the curatins didn't keep the light out but it didn't affect our sleep!

Friendly, helpful staff. Free car parking. Good location for exploring the area. Breakfast was lovely and fresh cooked to order.Dog friendly and charged very reasonably at £10 per night. Lovely garden with great views across the town towards the sea. Hot shower and a comfy bed. Good quality tea/coffee making facilities in room. An easy 5 minute walk downhill into town

A struggle to walk back to the hotel up a very steep hill - be warned, especially if you have mobility issues. Our twin bedded room was small, though to be fair, was perfectly adequate for our short stay. A long wait for cooked breakfast, though was worth it - just be aware if you’re pushed for time. We sometimes fancied a late evening drink - needed after walking up that hill😁 but unfortunately the bar shut at 9.30pm. I gather there is a shortage of staff, as we noted elsewhere in the town.

We visited Lyme Regis for the first time for an event at the Marine Theatre. The hotel was well situated for the theatre, downhill there uphill back! Parking was in a private car park across the road which was very convenient. Our double aspect room was clean, comfortable with good amenities, sea view was a bonus and unexpected! The staff were helpful and informative with good knowledge of the local area. Our breakfast was hearty and well cooked to order, lots of choice on the buffet table too. The breakfast room was light and bright with views over the garden, lovely in the summer months.

Our ensuite bathroom was a bit tight, but understandable as building is old, not a problem really.

Staff went beyond expectations. So friendly, love Louise and Gemma! Super! Breakfast delicious and prompt. Nothing too much trouble! Will be coming g for Christmas !!

Terrace could be upgraded for off season bookings eg heat lamps or dry seats You do need a car unless you want to walk steep hills to the beach and town ships- although car park is super. Just be aware if you are disabled like us :) Booking.com is to blame for misleading info about location AND restaurant availability in off peak season - not hotel’s fault. We will book direct next time for more accurate info
