Have been here previously. first time for a weekend break Large breakfast choice was served up if required and a very good selection from cereals...fruit juice... to full English. The cook NAT very helpful as always and looked after our dog with sausage as well. Room very clean large comfortable bed. .

Two things the bathroom could do with a little bit of update....shower mixer taps to adjust to get it right ...shower head bit beat up and the sink taps very stiff to turn off so not running away water. Obviously listed building and lot of steep stairs to room.

The staff are on point and the food was fresh and tasteful, not we expected and it definitely wasn’t from a microwave. Room was clean and bed was comfortable.

unfortunately being an old building, u can hear everything, so a restful night slight as a light sleeper wasn’t great. I could hear the next room snoring and I could hear the fans from the bathrooms going from the next rooms either side and then people going to their rooms at 3am was I nice awakening, but it’s an old building and it was only for one night so it is what it is, the staff and comfort of room made it better, however if ur a light sleeper I wouldn’t recommend it for more then one night .

We were concerned by the varying reviews when we booked so were pleasantly surprised. Good location, although the road to the centre does not have pavements all the way so care is needed. We asked for a variation on lunch not on the main menu and it was provided without any fuss. Good breakfasts. Made to order when quieter and buffet when busy. Both had full choices available and good quality.

Interiors a bit tired and carpets could do with cleaning, especially on the stairs which is a discouraging start.

Breakfast was great, as was dinner and all staff were v friendly. Loved my enormous bed!

Did not enjoy being woken by barking dogs before 7am from a nearby room! Owners making no effort to quieten them. I do realise staff have little control over this but maybe put dogs & owners in a separate part of the hotel to avoid this? They were then joined by barking from another room, it was deafening. Eventually the owners made some attempt to shush them but it carried on for about an hour on and off. Ruined my morning completely, just inconsiderate ☹️

The room was spacious, the bed was very comfortable and it was very quiet. The bathroom was clean with an easy to manage shower. The breakfasts were well cooked and delicious. I opted for zero room service as usual which meant I could stay in the room as long as I wanted in the mornings without being disturbed. This was particularly welcome during my stay which was the week following the Queen's death.

The only very small niggle was that I didn't much like the whiny tuneless pop music at breakfast time - but fully accept that others either liked, didn't mind or were able to ignore it.

Room lovely & comfortable! Food lovely & staff friendly & helpful! Big thank you to lady who cooks breakfast who was so sweet cleaning door of my car as birds had used it as target practice when I accidentally parked under tree! 😂

Breakfast ends 9.30am which I feel is bit early & usually in other hotels I’ve stayed in it’s 10.00am. Lighting in room 240 - could do with lamp on table - all lighting is over/by bed.

Nice cooked breakfast each morning. Room nice, coffee/tea facilities good and replaced every day. free wifi in rooms was good, could even watch youtube !

Rooms seem to not be well soundproofed, you can hear other guests sometimes , but to be honest I was only in the room in the evening/night anyway. Could perhaps do with darker curtains especially in the summer, or bring a sleep mask if you get woken up early by it

Welcome very friendly. We were upgraded and the room was bigger than expected clean, very comfy bed. Coffee tea biscuits good selection. Food both breakfast and dinner excellent with very good service

The room was on the top floor and no lift. When I had booked it was. my fault I did not look at accessibility.

The reception staff were very genuine, friendly and helpful. The hotel was cute, the room was nice, the bar looked like it had character, although we didn't have time to go in for a drink.

The breakfast was adequate, but could've been better. The same with the cleanliness of the room. Just lacking a little attention to detail, but overall a great little hotel

Room was spacious, bed comfortable and facilities clean and everything worked as it should. Breakfast was more than adequate, with generous portions, and variety.

The breakfast room could have done with a little piped music, as it was a tad quiet, so anyone having a conversation over breakfast was obliged to share it with all the patrons.
