Our room no: 4 was very comfortable, clean, & spacious. although as the windows were not able to be opened it got rather stuffy, however I asked for an extra fan was delivered promptly. The breakfast was superb with a plentiful & excellent choices cooked to order, the breakfast staff were simply wonderful, pleasant and left you to enjoy the chefs cooking in peace, and not too hurried for you to enjoy it. thankyou.

We found everything really nice, apart from the first person you meet at a hotel is the front desk, the young lady (glasses & arm tattoo) was on her computer, not even acknowledge us when we said hello, or say 'Hi be with you in just a moment' Nothing NO greeting, NO eye contact, No smile. she just carried on with her computer.!!! Eventually after signing in & got our room key, No enjoy your stay was forth coming, just eyes back to her screen. Even when we left there was 'NO hope you had a nice stay with us, hope to see you again soon' We thought she was the 'fly in the ointment' at the hotel BUT everyone else was brilliant, pleasant, smiles & helpful.

The hotel is close to the beach and the town centre. The staff were friendly and helpful and it has a nice atmosphere. The room, number 35 was lovely with a raised area with a table and chairs by the window overlooking the sea. It also had a roll-top bath and a large shower in the bathroom. Also there was tea and coffee making facilities plus a fridge in the room, containing drinks you had to pay for but also, a free bottle of water and 2 lovely little bottles of fresh milk for the tea and coffee, that was a nice touch. The bar and restaurant are lovely, we ate dinner there on our last night. The food was lovely, we didn’t have the pizza but their pizza’s looked delicious. Would definitely recommend this hotel, you just need to ensure you let them know in advance if you have any mobility issues.

The lift only goes up to 3rd floor and the signage from the lift to the room was a bit confusing. Also, we had to walk up a flight of stairs to get to our room once we got out of the lift, that was fine for us but would be challenging for someone with mobility issues.

Character-full, traditional seaside hotel with a slightly faded but charming grandeur. Lovely staff, a good menu of well prepared food, slightly quirky rooms but clean with comfortable beds.

The lack of water pressure in my bedroom meant that the hose with a spray fitting at one end couldn’t realistically be called a ‘shower’. It was a slightly comical ‘dribble’. Guest internet in 2025 should be viewed as a utility like water or electricity - one click and you’re in. I gave up on the hotel’s WiFi service as involved selling your soul to a third party provider. 5G was good though for hotspot connection.

We loved the decor and were immediately impressed and felt comfortable. The receptionist Jodie, was absolutely fantastic, one of the best I have encountered. Jodie/Jonie was super friendly and extremely efficient, she naturally wants to go above and beyond and this really made our stay extra special.-this kind of very natural and incredibly efficient service always elevates not only your stay but the vibe of the place. Our room was lovely, feeling clean and spacious, and we loved the communal areas and vibe.

There were only two minor issues for me. One being the shower door, felt a bit crummy and not easy. However this is not really a problem just something to consider if wanting to go for absolute perfection. The other was I don’t really like having to weave through bed linen and towels in corridors on way to breakfast. Again not a big issue and a difficult one to remedy however I think when heading for excellence through and through this would get you there.

Great location, comfy cosy room. Excellent shower, easy parking.

Dinner was dissapointing.. My husband had 2 course set menu. He had eaten his soup, and the plate cleared away. Then my main (only) couse arrived, prawns on sourdough, with a side salad. It looked very unappealing, totally overcooked tough, but lukewarm prawns. My husbands main hadn't arrived, so I tried my prawns only to find them inedible. The young waiter then came and apologised for the delay of my husbands main (mushroom gnocchi) I said that mine wasn't nice, and he replied 'yes, it didn't look good when I brought it out, and, would you like me to replace it' I said yes please. He took it away, then brought my husbands gnocchi, which he'd half eaten by the time my prawns arrived, so the meal was very drawn out, and, really not good. However, breakfast was excellent!!

Sea view and location Good sized room with large bathroom and great bed Clean and hotel has lovely interior Great welcome and helpful staff Dog friendly with doggy treat bags and bowls

Hit and miss food including breakfast need better attention to cooking service and details. Was okay but hotel of this price and type should be better in terms of good food. Disappointing. Staff during our stay knew that things weren't right when we gave them feedback about the food. They asked us to be honest. Which is good but rather not have to do this in the first place. We would stay again as hotel good. But not for the food. Hopefully a bad day.... Sunday

The quirky nature of staying in a grade 2 listed building but under no illusions that there are not going to be issues with access or facilities because of planning issues relating to refurbishment especially in regards to disabled access etc but a great opportunity to experience a sense of grandeur of another time

There was nothing to dislike I was totally amazed how every member of staff were so patient and professional when trying to accommodate every person and their dog, child and lone traveler by changing tables, location in seating all seating areas. Credit to all of them because the all place seemed to be run with minimal staff. Team work at its best. The only negative for me personally and I can only presume that it must have an impact on the staff is the low level lighting. The font on the evening menus are so light and faint this must cause eye strain and headaches if you are working in this challenging ambience. I’m sight impaired and have to use a small touch as a matter of course but I did find this menu particularly challenging.

Great location at the top of the town and close to the beach but out of the town centre which meant it benefitted from its own car park. Our bedroom was huge and had a fabulous window seat which looked out to sea. Well stocked and reasonably priced mini fridge and good facilities for making tea and coffee. A lovely big bathroom with a roll top bath which also had a sea view ! We arrived too early to check in immediately but staff were very friendly and stored our bags for us while we had a wander around town. We walked to the train station (only 5 mins walk) caught the train to Sheringham and spent the day walking back and visiting many lovely pubs along the way back. This is definitely a hotel that shouldn’t be judged on first impressions, on arrival we were a little worried as it had the look of a huge old fashioned seaside hotel but the interior has been carefully and tastefully decorated and we wouldn’t hesitate to book here again

Our only slight niggle was the car park is very tight and as we have a large car it was a little tight getting in and out but this had no bearing on our stay other than making it difficult to leave !

The location was very good. We had a front facing room overlooking the sea. Walking distance into the town and beach. Refurbishment of the hotel was very attractive and in keeping with the original style. Many features were maintained which made the stay enjoyable. A very helpful member of staff helped my elderly mother find her way back to our room when she got lost late at night. We also had dinner in the restaurant. The locally sourced food was well presented and tasted delicious.

The receptionist desk seemed a little disorganised. We were told they have a new booking system which they were still learning. There wasn't enough breakfast staff and we had to wait a while for our order to be taken. Someone else had to ask for their order to be taken.

The hotel location couldn't be any better, right on the sea front, which was perfect. Our room had a good sea view, which was an added bonus. The hotel itself is really unique, almost like stepping back in time. Little cues and nods to its victorian heritage make such a difference and make it stand out from a lot of other hotels. Breakfast was really good, lots of choice and good quality food, well worth the extra cost. I'd happily stay here again.

The only thing missing was some form of air conditioning in the room. Ours faced the rising sun and started to get uncomfortably hot not long after sunrise. It's a very minor thing as high temperatures are so unpredictable in the uk, but it would have helped.
