The room we stayed in (superior double with sea view on the first floor) was lovely and spacious with modern decor and a really comfortable bed, with the added bonus of a great view across to Porth Beach and beyond. The staff were all so helpful and friendly, from Reception to Housekeeping and the Bar - and the staff serving at breakfast were so welcoming and attentive every morning. Breakfast was excellent, so much choice! Great to have the additional option of a daily special on the menu as well - the omelette we had one morning was delicious. Views from the breakfast room, garden and bar were delightful.

It makes such a difference when you are greeted by friendly and helpful staff upon arrival and this was certainly the case here, very friendly staff! We had room 29 on the 2nd floor which was spacious with a big comfortable bed, two easy chairs which were much appreciated (this isn't always the case, even in 4* hotels, often there is just one), tea/coffee making facilities and biscuits. The room and bathroom were very clean and there were big fluffy white towels. It was quiet. Guests can also use the small but really lovely outdoor heated pool which I very much enjoyed. We had vegan breakfasts including vegan sausages (you have to ask for those), there was a good fruit salad too and a selection of cereals with a choice of soya or oat milk. The only pastries we noticed there were croissants but we didn't ask if they were vegan or whether they had vegan pastries. Parking was ok but if you park at the top to begin with and then go out for the evening you may have to park at the lower car park on your return so I suggest you have a look there first in daylight to check which spaces are reserved for the cottages and which are for hotel guests as it is a little difficult to work out at night. The hotel restaurant was closed when we were there but the receptionists are happy to suggest restaurants or even help with ordering takeaways. There is a bar. The beach is easy to reach on foot either by road or a shortcut through the grounds of the hotel.

Just a little niggle regarding safety. The bottom corner on the window side of the wooden bedframe sticks out a bit and the space between that and the corner of the dressing table is quite small and therefore it's easy to bump into it and trip. My husband did hurt his leg doing this. The dressing table could quite easily be placed along the wall opposite the bed and the tv put on a small separate base/table placed a bit further away from the corner of the bed and so allowing more space to get through.

The room was lovely, high ceilings and lots of light. Super clean, big fluffy towels and the bed and pillows were comfortable. I also had a nice sea view with a beautiful view of the sunset. Breakfast in the morning was also really good and very fast service.

The only downside is that the hotel doesn't provide dinner and there are very few dinner options in 10 minute walking distance. Newquay would be a longer walk, but it was raining the night I stayed and so having to walk in the rain to find a pretty average dinner in Porth wasn't great. But the hotel itself is brilliant and if you have a car, there wouldn't be an issue.

Superb breakfast. Excellent staff. Room was clean and comfortable. Special mention for the barman, Dave. Always helpful and willing to go the extra mile. A bonus to the hotel.

No evening restaurant service. Restaurant still advertised at the hotel entrance. Lack of evening restaurant service was not stated on the booking details. We would not have booked this hotel, if we had been made aware. Lack of local restaurant choices made this fact even more frustrating.

The breakfast was amazing, the staff friendly and very helpful . Stayed on the top floor and to be fair was warned about the stairs being steep but they were steeper than I imagined so struggled a bit . As an older person think the shower being over the bath could have done with a rail on wall to help get in and out of bath , other than that everything was wonderful. Look forward to going back ,though on the middle floor next time 😀

The hotel was located in Porth Bay which was perfect. The staff were very friendly and helpful during our stay and the hotel was clean with easy parking and very close to the beach.

The Hotel did not have an evening restaurant and only served breakfast. There is only one very busy local pub which served food in the bay, booking recommended. (The Mermaid Inn) otherwise, it’s ordering food for delivery which the hotel is fine about or going into Newquay.

We had a lovely stay for a mother's day treat. The staff couldn't have been any more friendly. They were really lovely from check in, to the bar staff, to check out..room 11 where we stayed was superb. Decorated to a classy finish and really comfortable to stay in. The view towards the beach was great. It really felt like a treat and money well spent.

Like a lot of places recently the bar prices are a bit expensive but as a one off treat it was fine

The room and the staff was friendly and very helpful. They were amazing!

The swimming pool it turned out to be a kids swimming pool since there was no time restrictions and end up being used only by 2-3 rude families, their unsupervised kids dominated and destroy part of the pool leaving the rest of the hotel guests with no access to the pool. The hotel staff had to close down the pool when one of the unsupervised kid got a scratch from a pool tile (which they were themselves pulling off the bottom of the pool). We booked this hotel knowing that the weather will not be ideal to go to the beach and we end up not using the pool at all. It would have been better for us if we had booked a hotel with no swimming pool but closer to the centre.

All the staff i met were lovely. Reception was very efficient and helpful. My room was nicely decorated and comfortable. Nice garden overlooking the sea to have a drink in the evening sun. Breakfast was very nice.

free toiletries were poor quality and lacking. Bar was poorly stocked (no gin and tonic or sparkling water) Communal areas are a bit dated and need modernising.

Our stay was very pleasant. The building is well maintained and the rooms well appointed and spotlessly clean. The staff on reception were friendly and very helpful. Breakfast service was efficient, the hotel restaurant was closed in the evening during our trip but we found an excellent restaurant within walking distance.

I very much enjoyed staying here, one minor point is that the double bed was of the type where two singles are connected together. A mattress topper of some sort would make the arrangement a little more comfortable but I was still able to get a good night of sleep.
