Upon arrival we were unsurprised by the quality of the reception team their courtesy and warm greeting just as we remembered it last time we visited! The scene set for another brilliant short break away we looked forward to putting our feet up for an hour or so in our room before enjoying some of the services offered by the well appointed Spa. An evening meal again didn't disappoint, great choice, generous portions, cooked perfectly, promptly served with the same warm courtesy and impressive professionalism that shon from everyone who made up the Redworth team. Other than that nothing special really, I jest! happy days and enjoy Redworth.
If you only want a shower in the shower and not an unexpected wake-up call from the basin, just be carefull of the water pressure in the bedroom that can be rather forceful

We enjoyed a spacious room which was warm and comfortable. There was complimentary water, a safe and a spa shower. I suspect we had received a free upgrade as we had booked a standard room. Absolutely no complaints regarding dinner and breakfast, in fact our waitress at dinner went over and above for our six year old grandson. When the kitchen was unable to provide a magnum as ordered, she melted some chocolate on two scoops of ice-cream to give a magnum experience.
The dining area for dinner was a little on the chilly side. The hotel is laid out on several floors and on several different levels. It was quite difficult to find one's way to a room on one floor to a room on the same floor but which was on a slightly different level. We were a family group in three separate rooms - it became easier to find a route to reception and meet there.

The property is stunning, the front gardens are a real wow when you enter the long drive. The front of house staff couldn’t be more helpful and were very informative upon arrival. The room was really spacious, very modern flat screen tv. The bathroom was the outstanding part you have a spa bath which I didn’t get to try out. The shower is a multi head shower, you come out feeling so refreshed. I spend my life travelling for work and have come across this absolute gem of a hotel I will most certainly be returning.
The only slight criticism I have I dropped my headphone in the floor and I had a look under the bed and it wasn’t very clean but that was the only fault.

Lovely historical venue, with modern Spa facilities. We had one of the deluxe House rooms, which was massive! Queen-size four poster bed and large bathroom with jacuzzi bath. We had lunch in both bars (Hotel & Spa) and the Hotel restaurant for the evening meals. All the food was perfect.. reasonably priced and came in a timely fashion. Had treatments in the Spa and the staff were v.good at their jobs. Would definitely go back.
hot water in shower was limited at times, but manageable. We were in one of the rooms in the olde Jacobean section so to be expected really.

A nice place to stay. This is not a small hotel, it is very large and accommodates lots of guests and has lots of functions. It was fine for me, still very peaceful and quite. Access to the spa and swimming pool a bonus. The grounds are nice to walk around, between the rabbits. Plenty of safe parking. Room was exceptionally clean and tidy, and also spacious.
Room was very very clean every day - thank you cleaners. But the bathroom showed signs of age with missing grouting. The electric towel rail was a bodge fix to the wall and I suspect will only get worse. I think regular bathroom maintenance checks would be a good thing, especially with electric in a wet area.

Rooms spacious, lovely big bed. Quiet, so a good night sleep. Restaurant and bar very nice. Outdoor space to sit and relax with outdoor games for Adults and children. Plenty of staff working hard, Cleaners, Bar and Restaurant staff, all friendly. Definitely recommend and would love to stay again. Lots of people arriving in buses, wedding venues. Plenty of parking spaces. A lovely area to walk.
Breakfast a little hectic as there were so many people. You have to get our own breakfast which sorry I like to be served otherwise it's very well organised and plenty of choices.

The location was great. Close to Bishop Auckland, it's set in its own grounds. The building looks like an Elizabethan Manor. Probably a great place for a wedding reception. The reception area still looks old though most of the interior of the hotel is quite modern. My room was simple, everything worked. Simple bathroom with an OK shower and goo dispensors rather than toiletries. Dispensor in the shower empty so found myself gelling up in front of the sink them hopping into the shower. Breakfast was the usual buffet with nothing unusual or extra, but it was fine. Had the usual cooked food, and croissant which were fine. The fresh fruit was rock hard so I left that alone. My stay came with free access to the spa. This was a medium sized swimming pool, steam room, sauna and jacuzzi films. At Saturday teatime it was still quite busy, but it was quite nice. Above all. Everything came at a price a bit less than the average hotel in the area. It really was stunning value. I booked it later on, so perhaps this affected the price. But overall? Anytime something wasn't quite right, I had to remember what it cost. An absolute bargain.
Only really two things. The First was reception, they seemed a bit distracted and much happier chatting among themselves when giving me a room key. They also give me the wrong directions to my room. At least that led to me getting a tour of the hotel. The second was the cleanliness of the room. The carpet was covered in gritty bits that you have to wipe off your feet before getting into bed. The bathroom floor was a bit sticky, with long brown hair stuck to it. This despite smelling of bleach so strongly it actually hurt my nose. Lastly, and I know I said two things, the radiator was jammed full on. So to stop the room baking, I had to open the windows and draw the curtains. Seems a bit of a waste.

The lady on reception was very lovely and great at her job. Nothing was too much trouble for her or any of the other staff. Breakfast was cooked very nice
The bath panel in our room was falling apart and made bathroom look unappealing. Order room service and missed part of meal The spa and cocktail bar was very busy. I understand this can’t be helped on a Saturday evening which is why we opted for room service as wanted a quiet night The only options for coffee were instant. Would have liked an option for latte/cappuccino at breakfast

Beautiful property. Comfy bed. The Spa was lovely. We did a lovely group facial and bought some products from espa. Would return to the spa, and room but would not return for the food.
The food for the price was very underwhelming in every meal we had. Even booked for afternoon tea we had to send the sandwiches back because they were dry, they were brought out again and were still dry, and couldn’t be bothered to send them back again and ruin our tea, for £21 each, very disappointing. As well as having dinner, £62 was spend on 2 courses and just wasn’t up to scratch for that money. As well as the buffet breakfast costing £16.82 each, which we were about to spend however a man walked past and told us not to bother so we ate on the second floor near the spa, and that was where another guest said they walked up from the restaurant to eat on floor 2 due to the buffet. Disappointing outcome for such a highly recommended hotel.

This hotel is lovely, stayed a good few times over the years. Only down fall was the last 2 occasions staying there our room was not cleaned good by house-keeping! First occasion our room was so dusty and cup stains on furniture, second time was just December gone and the floor in our room had not been cleaned even had tablets shattered on floor which I complained about to reception and a cleaner came to hover. House-keeping need training and told off ..
Our room was dirty and not acceptable at all.
