Bed was high and comfortable with a thick mattress topper. Towels were large and fluffy. Breakfast was self serve with some things to be ordered eg porridge, fried or poached eggs, tea and coffee. The breakfast was included with the room price and was a typical hotel breakfast. We enjoyed it.

Some of the decor seemed in need of refurbishment eg the plug in the bathroom sink was coming out of its anchor and it did not retain the water for very long. The central light fitting was full of the bodies of flies and other bugs which had found their way in there and one or two were walking around the inside of the cover with one walking around the outside trying to get into the light. It was rather disconcerting when lying on the bed with the light on. Parking was available but because there was a wedding on it was rather more limited than was possibly the norm and there were some tight corners to navigate as the parking was around three sides of the hotel.

Room was very comfortable but a little smaller than anticipate but it was a basic room as described on the website. Breakfast was an ample choice for both of us, my wife chose off the breakfast menu whilst I had the full English on offer, as with all help yourself breakfast some of the selection was a little cold but that comes with food served bu hot lamps. I did enjoy breakfast however. We did not dine in the restaurant as we had an early start to the show we had booked. A late night drink after the show refreshed us greatly. All staff we encountered we pleasant and friendly. A very enjoyable stay.

Nothing other than the cold breakfast items mentioned above.

Near to town center, room was spacious and comfortable, lovely view from window, we were in room 8, staff were very friendly and helpful, they reserved a parking space for us as were blue card holders, the meals were fantastic and early bird deal good value, breakfast you could have continetal or cooked or both, we had excelent stay.

Drinks bit pricey, hate rotating toaster lots of waste bread as burnt, we got soaked on saturday due to rain but no heating in room to warm us up, bed side lights not working spotlights very bright, duvet did not fit cover more cover than duvet. Do not like service charge on bill,

really nice weekend spent in a lovely old special house. love the architecture and spaces in the hotel. rooms nice and comfortable well equipped and spacious even the so called cheaper ones. didnt try the bar was only small no places to sit although plenty of room outside in garden. breakfast was great and staff very attentive. town centre within easy walking distance. am really hoping to go back to this hotel.

water pressure not great in room 35 at top of house. cold water dribbled out of tap on bath aswell as sink. shower gel shampoo and liquid soap was amazing ( not a weirdo). lol. but underneath the holder it was grimy and rusty. am being really picky tho. only other moan was parking their were a lot of guests so parking tight didnt really help that the Audi and jag owners thought they should have 2 spaces each..

Excellent dining. Breakfast has wide choice. Staff friendly, welcoming and helpful. Stayed here last September, so I knew the standard to expect. Was not disappointed again. Looking to return soon to use as a base for exploring the moors and dales of N Yorks.

The layout was a bit quirky, but some staircases are narrow. I tried to get to my room via the lift, but when I got out on what I thought was my floor, I was lost. Eventually found myself on the floor below and got back to the narrow staircase up to my floor. Hotel is at the end of a cul de sac, but was found eventually.

Nice staff an friendly, check in was smooth went to our room which was lovely bed was comfortable, we had a few drinks at the bar an over all couldn't complain about anything! Breakfast was lovely and plenty of choice

It's all cashless which wasn't really ideal for us you should be able to pay cash for a drink or anything Parking is a bit of an issue very tight area although the way people has parked took up more space than needed didn't help! But maybe putting lines may help keep people from blocking so much

The history of the building and some of the photographs on display. The high ceilings and the general ambience. The receptionist who told us about some special deals. The building is in need of some TLC but then that is part of it's charm.

The evening meal served in the same room as breakfast was very good value for money particularly if you started your meal before 7pm. However, the room needs to be made more attractive in the evening - table cloths would be a good start. The parking could be improved.

As a solo traveller I felt welcomed , very friendly team , and I had an upgrade which was amazing ! Nothing seems too much trouble . Smiley people ! Room was gorgeous , I basically relaxed and had the best time outside of work hours , thank you - I already recommended you to the people I was working with , and they in turn have sent the details to team members looking to travel to Darlington .

Nothing . It was all grand . Good value too .

We love visiting this hotel and we seem to stay once or twice a year. The rooms are always excellent and the hotel's ambience is great. It is a small hotel but with a big heart. The breakfast is always great and dinner is, too, though I prefer to stay when it's not Christmas as the menu is more limited. I understand why but the 'everday' menu and food quality is so much better. In fact it punches well above its weight.

The only issues I have with the rooms are the sealed up windows. I understand why but on the night we stayed some fresh air would have been nice. Parking is always like something from wacky races and they could do more to put in marked bays.
