The staff were friendly and welcoming, the patrons were also really nice. This is a local pub / hotel in a housing estate and they are lovely people. The drinks and food are really well priced and the food is amazingly well cooked and great quality. A great place to stay as the rooms are a great size too.

The shower in our room on the top floor didn’t have a bracket to hold it. Meaning you would need to hold the shower head and rinse yourself making a shower impossible. The bath is also right against a drop ceiling meaning you couldn’t stand up making the shower head pointless. The bathroom is more than big enough for an actual shower and cubical!

The receptionist was very friendly and helpful. We arrived after our expected time but that wasn’t a problem. She served us breakfast in the morning too. We got our cooked order very quickly and to how we wanted it cooked so breakfast was really good. The location was great for us as we had an event on in Stanley.

We booked the family room and had 4 adults in the room which wasn’t a problem for the hotel and we paid extra for that ( which we didn’t mind). However on booking.com the family room only is an option for 2 adults and 2 kids so that could be updated. We would have liked a stand up shower but did know that there wasn’t 1 in our room. The receptionist tried to see if she could move us but the hotel was fully booked. The hand held shower temperature was very temperamental but I did manage to get it right ! Our bed was squeaky.

Booked for a group of seven on a motorcycle trip. Check in was quick and the hotel had a nice bar and a separate lounge. The double room had a comfortable double bed, there was also tea and coffee making facilities. The bathroom though small was adequate. We ordered evening meals and as the football was on tv they kindly served the meals in the bar. The food was excellent and great value. The regulars were really friendly too. Breakfast which was included was fine and every member of staff were great.

I liked the property traditional atmosphere and the lady who assisted us during our stay was very friendly and courteous but not overwhelming. Our room was large and beautiful, we had a big double bed and a bed each for our girls. We had dinner at the local restaurant, food was good and the breakfast was really tasty. Not sure whether the heating was broken but upon our early arrival we found two electric radiators already on in our room which was nice so the room was warm by the evening. The hotel was conveniently located on our way back to Glasgow. Overall good value for money.

I am a fan of warm places and the room and particularly the toilet were a bit cold for my taste. However, I didn't mention it because I could live with it and we only stayed for one night.

Brilliant location for exploring, staff and owner exceptionally friendly, room very comfortable and clean may be just a few changes like hairdryer in room bigger TV but the outstanding feature was the food, we stayed for two nights and ate both nights in hotel and I can assure you that we were blown away by the standard and the price (could charge more) was that good would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone

As mentioned before would have preferred bigger TV in room and a hairdryer

Size of the rooms, friendly staff and locals, food and bar. Dog friendly and they were very accommodating in arranging some breakfast for an early departure.

The external appearance of the hotel was poor and didn't give a good first impression (carpark quite messy and generally unkempt appearance externally). Although the room was clean and well decorated, it was in need of a bit of TLC (drawer falling off) and odd to have to boil the kettle of the floor as there was no high level sockets!

We booked a family room for 2 adults, 2 children and two dogs. On check in I asked if we could have an earlier breakfast as we needed to leave early for a race the next day. Completely accommodating and moved this forward for us. We had a lovely evening meal, which was good quality and good value for money. The room was comfortable and what you’d expect for the price paid. The day we checked out, I had a phone call to say I had left my kindle behind and would I like it posted to me- it arrived a few days later. In short, it’s good value for money, the staff look after you and accommodate you really well. We’ll happily stay again in the future.

The hotel is an old lady, and was lovely and warm! As it is in a small village, it was really quiet. The staff were super friendly and helpful. We ate dinner in the restaurant and the food was excellent. Big portions, and really well priced. Breaksfast in the morning was also plentiful and delicious.

Nothing. If you consider the age of the building it is in good condition. A hairdryer in the room would have been great.

Dinner was available in a room adjacent to the bar. Staff were efficient and there was a good selection on the menu and food was good. Breakfast was available in the 'breakfast' room separate to the bar and dining area. Breakfast was varied and was hot and welcoming. Again staff were very efficient and accommodating.

In the hallway adjacent to our room there was a very strong unpleasant smell. This smell was not in our room.

We loved the feel as soon as we walked in. It was warm, welcoming and the staff were so lovely - everything was done with a smile and nothing was any trouble. It was traditional and the creaky floorboards made it feel lived in and loved. The breakfasts were tasty and well cooked. I'm a bit of a coffee snob and I thoroughly enjoyed my coffee in the morning. The evening meal was served quickly and tasted wonderful. We will definitely be back.

I can't say there was anything I didn't like. There were one or two little things in relation to the room but they were so small I'm not even going to mention them because they didn't disrupt our stay at all.
