The room was excellent, tidy, clean and comfortable. The staff were first rate and did everything they could to make us happy. Parking was free and an excellent breakfast was also included. The bar/cafe next door, The Maltings, was also great with excellent food and drinks. Again, the staff were top-notch. All in all it made for a wonderfull weekend.
Maybe a small fridge in the bedroom would have been helpful ( but not essential!). I have a problem with my feet/balance and the step up into the shower was a bit difficult for me. Both getting in and out and I needed help. If you were on your own, this might be an issue. Otherwise there was nothing to complain about.

I rarely go over the top and give rave reviews about anything, but it has to be said that this is one of - if not the - best hotels of this type that I have ever stayed in. The rooms and everywhere were clean and most comfortable, the price was VERY good - especially as it *included* an *excellent*, all-you-can-eat breakfast - and 24-hour hot drinks. Plenty of free car parking on-site and although slightly out of Perth town centre, the local taxis are very efficient, prompt and can easily get you in and out of town for about £8 -£10. But the icing on the cake were all the staff, team and managers, who were all extremely pleasant, friendly and helpful, who literally went the extra mile to look after us by stocking the bar with (decent) beer especially for us, following my review and comments after our stay there last year. They didn't have to, we'd have been staying there anyway. But they did and it was very much appreciated by all our party. It was really good to know that reviews and comments ARE actually read and passed on to the hotel and staff involved - and wonderful that they acted upon them. They are all a credit to the Company. Overall, a great stay in a great hotel and one which I have no hesitation in recommending to anyone.
Honestly.... nothing that springs to mind.

We loved the room. Big and clean and comfortable. There was a sofa to sit on which was an absolute god send. I find it very hard sitting on beds due to mobility issues so the sofa was an excellent addition to the room. So many hotels expect you to sit on the bed which I detest. Bed is for sleeping and seat is for sitting! The bathroom was big, clean and exactly right. The staff were very pleasant and approachable and helpful too. We felt comfortable and safe and the hot drinks machine was an unexpected and very appreciated addition. Why don't all hotels offer this?? We were able to park our car where we could see it which is excellent. The breakfast was ample and tasty and although I could not make breakfast due to being clinically vulnerable I was able to have some baked goods and a drink.. This was the only hotel on our 2 week trip that didn't make a fuss about this so I felt more comfortable altogether. We have stayed in IHG Express in the dark and distant past. We liked them then and we still like them now-we would book IHG express all the way to and from Orkney if we could but the last one in Scotland is Inverness and we need something further up in the Highlands really. So we liked everything-felt really comfortable, enjoyed our stay and got it at a really good price so excellent all round. Nothing to criticise at all and I cannot say that for all of the 5 other hotels we used this trio.
Nothing not to like at all

Our room was comfortable, quiet, and had all the facilities we needed for a transit stop. We slept well. There is a pub/restaurant next to the hotel avoiding the need to drive anywhere. We enjoyed our meal and the service there. The hotel is a mile or two outside the centre of Perth. That suited us as we were in transit, but may be less suitable for those wanting to see the sights in Perth. The breakfast buffet was more than adequate.
We felt the price was relatively high for the type of accommodation, but still acceptable. This is beyond the hotel's control, but the there are roadworks at the traffic island next to the hotel. This causes delays, and in our case an extra long delay due to an accident at the roadworks.

Wonderful friendly welcome from every member of staff we came across. Nothing was ever too much bother. Spacious room that had everything we needed. The coffee machine in the lobby.. lovely bonus. Comfortable bed and tasty, fresh breakfast with a decent choice.
Unfortunately the hotel is too far from Perth centre to be able to walk there. Compromise was there was a very good restaurant next door where we drank our glasses of wine in the lovely outside seated area. All things considered we will definitely go back. 🙌

Hotel and food was excellent. One member of staff( senior female member dark hair in ponytail) was very rude to a very young male member of staff who had obviously just started. He broke a glass and in front of us reprimanded him to the point he was almost in tears. It was an accident he didn’t mean it and the way she spoke to him was I feel unacceptable. The young man was working on the other days with different staff and was very polite and helpful. This could have been dealt with away from customer in a much nicer way. Maybe she was having a bad day but this is not ideal for customers to see.

Good price, location and decent room.
Breakfast needs improving. Bacon was soggy, full of fat and not very well cooked, scrambled egg pretty tasteless with no seasoning, bap looked good but the roll was again quite tastless and going stale. Felt very much 'shove it out, they'll eat what they get'. Can the kitchen staff have a few different types of bacon for example, just cooked for those that like it that way and then crispy or more well done for those that like it that way. Apple juice had been really watered down as had the orange juice by the taste of it. Wouldnt take much to improve these things and add some salt to the scrambled eggs. You even market it on your website as a 'very good breakfast' or an 'excellent breakfast' or something and it's unfortunately far from that. Anyway, the rest of the stay was good.

Holiday Inn Express Perth is on par with all the other HIE branches that we've booked, What seals the deal for me is the availability of vegan breakfast but this is always a pain to communicate, some staff are not sure if sausages are vegetarian or vegan - would appreciate clarity around this. Aside from check-in, everything went smoothly and we have enjoyed our stay!
The only reason I'm removing a point is a small hiccup during check-in - I was told I have only booked 1 room despite me showing my booking.com email showing 2 rooms under my name and saying that I have reconfirmed the same a few days before arrival that I am allocated 2 adjacent rooms. (apparently, they have used my first name as last name in the other room but this could have been easily checked rather than being adamant that I only have 1 room).

The staff were very friendly and approachable. The checking in process was straightforward and efficient. The bedroom was clean, comfortable and warm and the shower was hot and towels soft. There was a lounge area and bar run by pleasant staff and there was a well reviewed restaurant right next door for meals. Breakfast was good and having self service allowed you to mix and match pleasing the whole family. There was plenty of free parking on site. All in all, this was a good value venue for an overnight stay.
Our only 'complaint' (and it's only a little one)... was the family rooms are small and when the sofa bed is in use, any available space is removed.

Check-in was friendly and efficient. The room was bright, spotlessly clean and comfortable. All the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful - we were really impressed with how hard the cleaning staff work! We were pleased to be able to order a meal for delivery to the hotel. It was good not to have any untoward reactions from staff to our continued indoor masking (we're clinically covid-vulnerable), indeed we were shown nothing but respect and sensitivity
It would have been really nice to order from the Maltings restaurant next door. As mentioned above we are covid-vulnerable, so only eat outside or in our rooms - part of the reason we booked a night in the Holiday Inn Express in Perth was the presence of the Maltings and we'd anticipated being able to order there and carry our plated food to our room, however we were told on check-in that that wasn't permitted. I didn't ask whether it was Holiday Inn or Greene King that don't allow it, but would ask that an exception could be made for clinically vulnerable people who can't eat in restaurants.
