On arrival at check in the hotel asked for my bank card to confirm booking they took the full amount again./ Only after checking my banking app I noticed I’d been charged again…still waiting for refund be very careful

The room was really comfortable, with a lovely bed and a good shower. Everything was very clean. We ate there in the evening. The food was excellent with the chef accommodating allergies and a very polite and helpful waiter. Breakfast was lovely with vegetarian and vegan options.

The rooms open up to a courtyard. Appreciate that the pub did clear the courtyard when it closed but there were a group of really noisy guests that came back at midnight and were out in the courtyard and running around outside the rooms until about 2am. There didn't seem to be any staff on site to manage the noise after hours. I think I would have felt a bit vulnerable if I'd been staying on my own. We couldn't find anyone to check us out in the morning, when we would have fed back about the noise the night before, so we just had to leave our key on the bar.

Very clean, comfortable room, as always at The Angel.

We stay here often and are usually very happy. However, on this occasion there were a couple of issues with the bathroom which did spoil our enjoyment. The sink plug mechanism was stuck in the closed position, which meant that any water run into the sink could not then be emptied. Housekeeping must surely have been aware of this issue when cleaning the bathroom. There was also no obvious way to close the open skylight in the extremely chilly bathroom.

The perfect location for visiting this small town. The Room was spacious, clean and well presented. We met the rest of the family in the pub and decided to stay for a meal. Food was great and so was the service.

Can’t really fault it…especially for the price. If being extremely picky the room was warmer than we would normally like and we couldn’t turn the heat down or open a window. However, I am sure if we had mentioned it to the staff they would have sorted something. All in all a wonderful stay and we would definitely book here again.

Location and friendliness of staff and other guests. Lovely big, comfortable bed! Room was clean and it was quiet. Had a lovely evening meal. The atmosphere in the hotel was relaxed and friendly and we would definitely return.

Window overlooked courtyard so had to keep blinds closed for privacy which meant no natural light. Shower head was weak and needs changing. Plug socket on one side of bed not working so no table lamp. Room needed more light.

Our son was getting married in Purton (5 minutes drive away) and we needed a base for the night before. The Angel jn Wootton Bassett was the perfect location. If you are in the area for a family wedding we would highly recommend it.

Nothing really. Everything was really just what we wanted. Great location, comfortable rooms, friendly bar/restaurant and great service.

Historic pub right on the high street, sleeping accomm behind and detached from pub so therefore quiet, parking at the front a real bonus

Ensuite requires some repairs; Loose and broken floor tiles with grout missing (uncomfortable under bare feet), cracked bath panel, bath surround needs resealing, shower screen doesn’t meet with bath edge so floor gets wet.

Have stayed at The Angel before, it has a great location in the middle of the High Street and a good range of food and drink.

The room just needs a bit of TLC - the bathroom window didn’t open properly, the shower was missing a button on the mixer tap and the plug didn’t work. The room was comfortable but the main TV channels didn’t work.

Having stayed in the area on many occasions I was pleasantly surprised by my stay at the Angel. Room was comfortable, access was good and breakfast good too.

There was a little confusion over where breakfast was served. It was however Royal Wootton Bassett carnival weekend so the hotel and bars were very busy. It was quite noisy outside rooms but then it was once a year carnival.

Room was quite large with a good sized bathroom including bath with shower over. Room had a fridge with freezer box which was great as it was very hot. Nice big bottle of water in our room. Tea and coffee making facilities in our room.

We kept our blind and front window shut as the rooms are all on the same outside walkway so not particularly private, and are on an upper level above the pub’s garden. Just a minor point really as the room and bathroom were very good - we were out most of the time and only stayed one night.
