On arrival at check in the hotel asked for my bank card to confirm booking they took the full amount again./ Only after checking my banking app I noticed I’d been charged again…still waiting for refund be very careful

Room was fine, bed comfortable, good shower. Both bathroom and bedroom were really clean.

I knew the Angel is a pub, and I was aware there would be noise from the outside beer garden and the pub, none of that was a problem. It was just a shame that from after midnight until around 3 am on my last night I was constantly disturbed by other guests coming in and out of their room to smoke on the balcony. They would talk loudly and let their room doors bang. Totally inconsiderate of other guests. Maybe management could remove the ashtray and not encourage smoking on the communal balcony access area, or maybe just verbally ask people to have some consideration for other people in the middle of the night. Quieter closing doors would be a good idea too.

Pretty, nicely decorated. Central ,warm welcome. Rooms were nice and beds comfortable

No long mirrors in rooms annoying when you’re going out . The girl at breakfast was rushed off her feet she could have done with another pair of hands - she was very sweet. Only thing that bothered me when asked if we could swoop out black pudding- I hate it they just said no - no you can pay extra etc(felt abit hostile.from the kitchen) Another group eating who ordered before us seemed their food was completely forgotten about. I think food is new to this pub soo expect teething problems and nothing some extra staff wont help.

I made a few requests prior to my visit to make it easier for my elderly father's stay . Aldo was really helpful and made sure everything I asked for was sorted out. I loved my room, it was huge, clean and the bed was really comfortable. There was a fridge, fan , kettle and water, tea and coffee. Great shower and soft towels. I was also very impressed with the programmes available on the TV, I could catch up with all the programmes I had missed in the week ! Overall, a great stay .

The noise from the beer garden into the evening.

The Angel is in a great location. The disabled room (15) was spacious and the Manager, Aldo made sure there was a disabled chair in the bathroom for my husband to shower. The beds were very comfortable.The staff were lovely. A 14th century Inn with a fabulous beer garden. Food delicious. Lovely and quiet.

There was nothing not to like, having said that the common areas could have done with a bit of an upgrade e.g. new carpets in the dining areas. Having a greater understanding of whether parking permanently in front of the hotel using a disabled sticker would be a problem or not. In our case it wasn't. More food choice at breakfast if continuing to offer it.

Room was clean and large enough. Good location, close to Sainsbury and Costa and close to the Airshow. The pub and beer garden were cosy, we had a good dinner there. Eventhough the rooms are located in the beer garden, it was completly quiet by 11PM so we had a good sleep.

The room had a small window, so it was quite dark in the room. Less privacy because rooms are located in the beer garden. Bathroom could use an update.

Very courteous, helpful & friendly staff. Cannot fault them. Location great & ease & cost of parking fantastic. Warm, comfortable room. Plenty of hot water. Food & dinner service excellent. Breakfasts, great choice & plentiful.

Just be aware that some of the rooms are outside, around the pub courtyard which we were unaware of on booking. This obviously means there is considerable noise until closing time from pub customers. The first night the noise was very intrusive. However when we spoke to the manager about our concern he couldn’t have been more helpful & accommodating. Our second night was very peaceful.

The public rooms e.g. front restaurant, location, well equipped room, beautifully dressed for Christmas, excellent value.

No dressing table mirror - needed for hair and makeup. Slightly untidy outside area en-route to bedrooms. Limited breakfast choice, and only one time slot available due to a large party also having breakfast. I would have booked breakfast and a time slot at the time of booking the hotel, but wasn't allowed to do that - told to book when we got there and that there wouldn't be a problem.

The room was in a block set back from the main pub building, which meant it was fairly quiet. Pleasent staff and a great location right in the centre.

It was more of a restaurant than a pub and fairly pricy for alcohol. We didn't eat there. Both my wife and I vape, and of course, we're prepared to do this outside. However, despite having a nice and large outside area, there were no smoking/vaping signs everywhere ! It's not a criminal offence. As a result, we only had one drink in this pub. I'm sure this will put a lot of people off coming here. We arrived on a Saturday, and all of the other pubs in the village were rammed full. Great atmosphere. Not in the Angel though. Whether this was as a result of the draconian restrictions I'm not entirely sure.

Great little hotel, really good value for money. We travelled for a family funeral so it offered everything we needed. The hotel and pub had a really lovely feel about it. Very cosy and comfortable. It was the coldest night of the winter but the rooms were really warm. The staff were very very helpful and friendly. We were really pleased and would 100% stay there again.

Parking could have been an issue but we were lucky enough to find a space outside of the hotel. The bedrooms are in the courtyard which has tables for customers in it so I can imagine it may be a little noisy in the room in the evenings in the summer. Saying that it looked really nice and the outside space was big and very pleasing on the eye. Breakfast was maybe slightly overpriced for a full English with tea and fruit juice but it was very tasty and it was convenient being able to have it on site.
