Overall the hotel was nice. Our room was lovely with a very comfy bed and a large tv. Shower was good too. Situated in nice area.

When we arrived we couldn't find where to park as it wasn't signposted well. When we entered we couldn't find a member of staff. We sat in the restaurant but left because it took to long to be served. When we came back there still wasn't a staff member. When we did get seen to we were allowed in our room early so that was a bonus. Dinner service was awful we waited an hour between ordering drinks and getting our meal. Staff all over the place.

It was a lovely surprise walking through the door into a bright interior, tastefully decorated and clean. The staff were friendly and courteous, there were places out with the main area that were comfortable to sit in. The bedroom (15) was superb, plenty of room, clean, a big comfy bed and a powerful double shower in the modern ensuite. If you are visiting Sanquhar this is a lovely central place to stay.

There was a step by the reception desk that got me every time.

Everything was Brilliant, the staff were extremely friendly & very helpful. The location was great - in a small warm village out of the way of busy hectic life. Local amenities were better than most. The takeaways on the high St were good quality and definitely good value. The hotel is obviously an important part of the local community offering food all day & where local groups meet up. It's really nice to see all this in action & you definitely feel a warm, comfortable & cosy atmosphere. Nothing seemed too much for the staff to do whilst staying there.

My only issue was the brightness of the room we were in. I'm quite sensitive to the light in a morning. But the blinds didn't offer me enough shade. Maybe if curtains could be fitted over the blinds????

Helpful and friendly staff. Nice room. Very comfy bed. Great food. Reasonable prices for food and drink. Strange layout as if it's been separate buildings in the past. On main street so thought it might be noisy, but it wasn't.

Beer garden needs tidying - random items making it look untidy. No furniture on the lawn in the evening sunshine - all on the patio in the shade. Slow service at breakfast, but think one of the staff was new so still learning?

We booked the hotel prior to a sports event, and the location was great for our purposes, as the hotel was located less than 15 min from the site. Although the room was a basic hotel room, the bed was very large (I suspect king size), which was great, and the bedding was comfortable. We had to leave early before breakfast was served, but the hotel kindly offered to make us a lunch bag (sandwiches, fruit, crisps, a chocolate bar, and a drink) which was left hanging from our door as we got up in the morning. Overall I was happy with my stay and would definitely consider booking this venue again when attending similar sports events in the future.

Although booking.com states that free on-site parking is available, the car park is very small and was already full by the time we arrived. Luckily we could park for free on the road side and the staff stated that it was safe to do so, but I feel that the limited parking space should be clarified upon booking.

Probably, taking into consideration the value and what is on offer.... The best hotel I've stayed in. I've stayed in 4 and 5 stars, stayed in hostels. This hotel is worth every penny. Comfy, clean, safe parking, pool table, pub/bar, breaky, towels, good wifi, restaurant, staff are absolutely brilliant, couldn't do enough for you. Highly recommended for bikers. Will be back.

Housekeeping second to none! The place is spotlessly clean! Room was very comfy and all fixtures/ fittings to a very high standard. All staff me met were friendly and helpful. We've passed through Sanquhar so many times, and this is first time we stopped, but will def stay here again. Food is served on an evening and priced very fairly, and tasted delicious 😋 We left early, too early for breakfast, but were given a very substantial breakfast 'take away' of sandwiches, fruit, crisps, choc bar and a drink! We can't praise this place enough, do yourselves a favour and get booked in!

The whole experience at the hotel was fantastic. All of the staff were so friendly. Rooms very nice with a good bathroom and powerful shower. A group of 16 of us met up for a suprise 75th birthday for one of our group. The hotel did us proud. Good breakfasts. Superb evening meals, all served together. The bar was very welcoming. Had good banter with the locals. A big thank you to all of the staff at The Nithsdale Hotel.😀😀👍. Dave Taylor.

This hotel is fab. It is in a great location and has lovely views. The room was nice and warm and had tea/coffee and a fridge. There was a very comfy bed and an excellent state of the art shower room. Most important was the warm welcome we received from the landlord who was very helpful.

The only possible aspect that I would say needs urgent improvement was the lack of good fresh coffee. The coffee served was weak instant coffee, and I was looking forward to having a good freshly ground coffee with the excellent Scottish breakfast.

Staff were very friendly, liked the Homely feel of the hotel, small and cisy in the bar area, we were impressed with the rooms, we were not sure what to expect considering the hotel star rating, we were in room 11, plenty if space and bed comfy. We had full cooked breakfast which was tasty.

Working out how to get into the hotel from car park, staff wouldn't let us walk through back doors, to be really picky we would have liked beans with breakfast, not sure if this was an option though as we didn't ask.
