Our 2nd stay here this time fo ra concert in Scarborough. The room was immaculate, breakfast is amazing, staff fabulous. The lady who looks after breakfast service is wonderful. Very attentive and they have a wide choice of things to eat, you can even build your own cooked breakfast with whatever you like. Great for my hubby who is a little bit picky. The room was really nicely furnished the bedding is lovely and comfortable. Location is fab, right on doorstep to join the Cleveland Way for walking either into Scarborough or towards Ravenscar, Robin Hoods Bay or Whitby.

Nothing we had a wonderful weekend

Lovely warm and welcoming pub, travelled with my son who is neurodiverse and the staff were very accommodating, close to the Alpamare water park and main attractions in Scarborough. Food was lovely, lots of choices for breakfast.

Road noise as had a front bedroom, son struggles with noises but managed to get to sleep, tv was broken, however staff did try to resolve this for us but appreciated it wasn't something that could be rectified in the short time that we stayed, gave us a free drink to as an apology for this

Fabulous place to stay, being only a 10 min drive from Scarborough, and on the right side for Robin Hood Bay and Whitby. The staff were very helpful and suggested lots of great places for us to see and dine at. The breakfast was beyond our expectations being very well cooked, high quality ingredients, and plentiful portions! We stayed for dinner too and had an equally great experience. I'm certain we'll be back.

Only complaint is the mattress was a bit too soft for our liking, but we otherwise slept well.

The rooms are adequate, clean and comfortable. The hotel is small but cosy and the food is excellent, breakfast and for all meals we had over the 2 nights we stayed. Shaun is really helpful and provides a wonderful service, he helped to sort out packed lunches and taxis, so we were set up for both days. Would recommend.

The staff on the whole were all really friendly and helpful, especially Shaun and the lady who served our breakfast. Only slight negative was on our arrival, we had walked in the rain from the bus stop after journey on train etc. We arrived 10 minutes early and although one female member of staff could see us, we had to wait outside in very wet and windy conditions before we were let in at 4pm. Looked surprised and didn't even say welcome, come over to the bar I will check you in, just walked off and ignored us whilst preparing the bill and then it was just handed to us! Not a good start! I am sure this was just a one off and as we were wet and tired seemed worse but felt worth mentioning.

The food was good in the restuarant..though the second nights food was better than the the first night but i think it depended on what you chose to eat. The breakfasts were superb..cooked to perfection and nice service. Location wise it was in a nice village and had a nice tradional pub feel to the place. Nice little beer garden at rear. Plenty of parking space. Room was spacious and clean and we had an amazing sloping bathroom which was rather quaint indicating the age of the building. Amusing when i had to visit toilet in the night. it felt like i had drunk too many beers in the bar!

Not the pubs fault but its on a busy main road with the bedrooms on the front making it subject to fast moving traffic noise..especially noticeable in the early hours of the morning with occasional lorrys zooming by! Got woken up around 6.00 am most mornings. I have to say i felt it was a bit overpriced for the room. It was nice enough but not extra special. Being a pub and not a bigger hotel I think £125 per night a bit steep.

Nice room, quiet, clean and comfortable. Parking immediately outside. Staff were all excellent, friendly and efficient. Decent menu in restaurant (although we were on reduced Sunday roasts). Breakfast was excellent!

They put some kind of "Bisto" gravy on both our mains in the restaurant although they were different meats. Very strong and a bit overpowering. We prefer lighter sauces. Apart from the, food was OK.

The location of The Oakwheel was perfect for exploring the county/local coastal resorts. Our room was spotlessly clean, comfortable and spacious. We enjoyed having our breakfast at the pub and also chose to eat there for one of our evening meals. The staff were friendly, helpful and welcoming, always ensuring that we had everything we needed. We would choose The Oakwheel again without question.

Excellent location, excellent food with breakfast and evening meal taken. The staff were excellent, a great little base between Whitby and Scarborough. Overall we enjoyed our stay, found it good vfm, and would recommend.

Only 3 small subjects to pick at, 1 of which is beyond the venues control. I recognise it is an old building but the slope in the bathroom we had seemed severe. It also felt unsafe to step on as it creaked and felt like it gave a little. It definitely put us off having a bath or shower. I'm not sure how that could be resolved, if I'm honest. The next 2 are constructive criticisms, and hopefully taken as such. The rooms radiator could do with a good clean or repaint. And on arrival a towel was folded on the side of the bath and was sopping wet, dripping onto the floor. Which puzzled us as the water source was not apparent as everything else was dry.

Breakfast was excellent, the staff couldn’t do enough for you! Pub setting is lovely, normal priced drinks. Fab location to go to the Scarborough open air, 10 minute taxi drive- £10 each way. Staff organised the taxi for us to get there, we did struggle to get a taxi back though as didn’t book one.

Food was a bit more pricey than I would like to pay though. No takeaways around for a kebab 🙈

The bed was comfortable and the room was clean and of a good size, as was the en-suite bathroom. The bottles of water in the room were a nice touch, especially after traveling in the hot waether. We also appreciated the fan in the room. The location is well enough out of the way but still close to everything. Parking on site was free and easy. The restaraunt / bar downstairs was very nice and homely and the beer garden at the back was lovely. The food we ate there was also very good.

The staff were lovely but check-in was slow. However, we had the feeling the young man dealing with us may have been new and still learning the ropes? Not much to complain about really but, as others have mentioned, that part of the process didnt feel very welcoming or particularly friendly. Wouldn't say this is a reason not to come back though! The only other strange part of our stay was that, when we went downstairs to eat, we were told after ordering our food that we could not sit inside, even though the place was more than half emtpy. We had to eat our meals outside on the benches. Was a little strange to be a resident but not allowed to eat indoors!
