Bed very comfortable and linen good, room clean. Food very good. Breakfast cooked to order and very good quality products. Restaurant food equally as good. The pub is very traditional with a real fire which was very much appreciated on such cold nights.
Only a slight niggle in that the room was on the corner of the pub and single glazed large windows which let in very cold draughts. Curtains were good but the radiator is under one of the windows and on the first night which was below freezing outside, the hot air went straight up the inside of the curtain. The weather changed and warmed up the next day and the room felt warm after that. It is an old building and would think in the summer months the room would be lovely as both windows opened so you would het a breeze.

The pub is lovely and cosy, fab fire down one end of the bar which is great to sit by this time of year with a pint of the expertly kept beer (highly recommend a pound of the Boltmaker!) There were always a few other tables of locals and visitors which gave it a lovely atmosphere. The food was delicious and good value for money. The room was very spacious (we stayed in the Punch & Judy room) and the bed was so comfortable. We stayed for a few nights around a friends wedding and it was a great base to head off and visit local places knowing that we could come back to a friendly face behind the bar, a good pint and a comfortable stay for the evening. Taxi was easy to book for our event too, there’s plenty of local companies to choose from. The staff were always very friendly and helpful, I’d really look forward to going back in the future when I’m nearby.
Nothing!

Breakfast - fantastic, really filling; Room - comfortable, high-spec; Location - 8 mins' drive from North Shore, easy to get to the town centre and navigate. Inn is in a quiet location and never experienced any noise from the pub or beer garden.
The shower cubicle was very small - too small to be comfortable, kept banging my elbows against the wall when lifting my arms to shamppo my hair, etc. Quite a large bathroom but very small shower cubicle. A larger person - man or woman - would have struggled.

Our room was spotless and comfortable with tea making facilities and loads of room for clothes. The bathroom was spotless although the shower cubicle was a little tight for me and i'm only a slight 17 stone! We had an evening meal at the pub which was excellent! 'I like a hot plate with my meal served on', so all was piping hot when it arrived at the table, and very tasty, and as for breakfast, well! absolutely brilliant! and plenty of it.
It didn't bother me, but, our bedroom windows could only be opened a few inches which made the old lady a little bit claustrophobic, especially at night, I understand it would be for security, as it was on the ground level.

A great location, in the lovely village of Burniston (in between Whitby and Scarborough). The room was spotless and very comfortable, the staff were pleasant and our evening meal was delicious...
These are only minor criticisms but, we could not access the WiFi at all in our room (No. 6). Also, we booked our evening meal for 7pm, now the lady did say they would be busy (and, we were warned that our meals could take up to 45mins, when we ordered), our meals arrived at just past 8pm. Like I say though the meal was delicious, and piping hot (obviously, a lot of care and attentionhad been taken), but over an hours wait was a bit much, hunger pangs were definitely starting to set in...

The location, the room and food.
I left my phone charger in Room 6, early Am Wednesday 17th July 2024, rang straight away, once I knew there might be someone there, had to leave a message, no one called me back. I asked them to let me know if they had it, if I could call back or ideally please would they post it to me (as its an original Samsung charger) and I'd pay the postage fee, am bitterly disappointed.

Had a lovely pleasant stay at The Oakwheel. Didn't get chance to sample the bar menu as we were heading to the Open Air Theatre down the road for a gig. Simple 10 minute bus journey into town. We did however sample the breakfast the following morning... Superb! Set us up for the day ahead. Staff were lovely. polite and nothing was any trouble. Very handy spot for any concert goers in town. 5*****
Nothing to do with the property itself. Bit of a nightmare geting a taxi back from town after midnight.

This is the 2nd time we have stayed at the Oakwheel this year. The staff were friendly and welcoming couldn't do a enough for you. Our room was the Kings room, spacious and clean. The bed was nice and comfy with tea and coffee facilities with a good size tv. The bathroom was clean and spacious with shower over the bath. We had an evening meal the food was beautiful and we also had breakfast and the breakfast was very nice.

We’ve stayed here three of fours times now and just can’t fault it. The rooms are clean and comfortable with tea/coffee making facilities which are topped up every day. The staff are helpful and happy and the breakfast are really good. As it was raining one evening we stayed in for our meal which was delicious and plentiful The menu was extensive but we chose Haddock and chips which was lovely.
We haven’t had any complaints whatsoever.

Everybody was so friendly including the regulars, one of whom booked a taxi for us to get back from the Paul Weller gig. All the staff are great especially Alicia who looked after us when we got back. The England game started an hour after we checked in and I had said we wanted to watch the game and they reserved us a table.
