Excellent location and facilities. Has a lovely swimming pool and leisure facilities and liked the size of the bedrooms and great to have a small fridge. Breakfast was plentiful with lots of options.

Pillows too hard on the beds Refreshment tray in bedroom wasn’t always replenished Bottled water arrived in the fridge on the last day and not the other two days. Doors are left open to the outside when sat in the bar area of the evening and not nice when the room is filled with weed when people are smoking it directly outside the door. This shouldn’t be allowed. Even saw someone vaping inside sat at a table.

Clean, bathroom was well fitted with a good shower. Room size was bigger than I needed. Decent number of plugs.

The pillows were all very hard. As an osteopath I may be fussier than most but 2 hard pillows did not offer the right support. It would be nice to have one hard and one soft. The check in i was waiting at the desk for a long time and there was person checking someone in and another looking at the screen. Then someone who was staying walked over to him and started requesting whatever they needed and he seemed to be oblivious to the fact that I was waiting to check in. I had probably been there 7 mins and he did not acknowledge me at all. Then one the other guy was done checking the other person in he was polite but everything felt incredibly scripted. Breakfast also was a little on the pricey side.

Beautiful hotel we've stayed there for years to see the snooker

Thermostat in room 132 was broken spent 1st night very uncomfortably, Maria on reception did what she could but couldn't move our room as hotel was full . Moved the next afternoon but at over £200 per night i was not happy. Breakfast was very overcooked bacon was like cardboard and left on an open bain Marie to go harder. Every year the bar is the same inadequate staff who have no idea how to work a bar , 5 behind it at one point yet not a clean table to sit at and beer taps empty as no one could change a barrel. I am a 10yrs retired duty manager that worked in a Mercure hotel and this kind of thing would not have been tolerated . Staff need training !

Very good location, for our planned visit to the Crucible Theatre, to watch Miss Saigon. Friendly staff and nice appearance to the main reception and breakfast eating facilities.

Very expensive and not really worth it for the state of the rooms. Room next to lift and very thin walls, could hear other guests initially. The Spa has a fairly cold swimming pool and no jacuzzi and the Spa facilities are quite dated and need a full clean and refurbishment. Not as good as appears in the photos. Lockers can cause problems and need to climb stairs back to the spa reception on the top floor if they fail. No free parking on site and if you need to book into the Q Car park, ask the hotel for the code for a discount first (MHCS25), or you’ll have to go back, leave the car park and then drive back in if you want to get your 25% off.

I liked the location as it’s so convenient, near to the train station, restaurants and shopping. Beautiful Hotel with good spa facilities I’m told if you have time to use them, I didn’t and also didn’t see them . The room were spacious and the facilities were great , huge TV , fridge and tea coffee facilities. The view of the square was nice , with the local town hall In full view . No disturbances or noise from other guests , but this might because it was a Monday . The bathroom for me was the only complaint . Felt like it wasn’t clean enough .

I was not impressed by the female receptionist on arrival , I felt she was rude her persona was off .

Great central location, straight off Peace Gardens. Large rooms and a comfortable bed. The bathroom was good, and the complimentary toiletries smelt lovely. Communal areas were really pleasant, and the fact that the building is connected to the winter gardens is interesting. The vast majority of staff we interacted with were very helpful and polite. Later check out than some other hotels, which made my stay feel a real treat.

Really noisy on the first night due to a school prom in the function suite. Squealing girls outside impacted the ability to study in the room. My facial cloth was removed from the bathroom by the cleaner for some reason, which was irritating as I'd not brought a spare one.

Clean rooms, have all the equipment you need tea, hair dryer, iron , shampoo etc. the staff was so lovely and accommodating for us. The price was amazing for the room and how big it was too! Bath and shower was a lovely option. Was just fabulous and had a great birthday there with my best friend. Perfect location in the centre of everything which is good when you’re having drinks!

I think the spa needs more attention and care to it as it was quite messy by the pool / chairs was everywhere which made it messy looking. The hotel however was perfect just the spa was a little bit of a let down is all.

Loved the location: central but a really nice quiet part of Sheffield, attatched to the Winter gardens. Lots of lovely retaurants and cafe's nearby, including the Crucible and O2. Friendly and efficiant staff at every point of contact. View over the Peace gardens was nice, big comfy bed, spotlessly clean room and lovely upgrade was appreciated!

Always a little disappointed in the 'canteen' style help yourself breakfast at big hotels. We were welcomed in and shown to a table which was good but lots of to-ing and fro-ing to the stations doesn't seem to fit the 4 star category experience.

Hotel was excellent in certain things, very comfortable, and the room was superb. My negatives was no breakfast included in my stay £15 for breakfast is very expensive, the bar staff were not as pleasant as last year, Cam and Amanda last year were both first class, the Guinness was not good, nobody knew what a proper Guinness was, a bartender poured me a Guinness which was gas was too high, poured it to the very top and still served me it. You should not be doing that especially to an Irish man who spend most his working years in bars. I also seen a mouse running around last night. None of the staff seemed to care.

No breakfast included and did not pay £15 per day. The Guinness and how the bar staff poured it, last orders were done way too early on all the nights I was there except yesterday. Its one of the hotels busiest weeks of the year with the world snooker going on, last orders should be at least 1:30 am on Friday and Saturday night. It killed the buzz. The bar staff weren't a patch on last year's. Seen a mouse run around from spot at the bar. None of the staff seemed to care when I mentioned it.
