Nice big room, comfortable bed and good bathroom, fan on and window opened when we entered room which was good as very hot day.

No hair dryer provided, no welcome pack to tell you what time breakfast was etc. Or the local amenities. No WiFi

Newly refurbished so all fresh and clean, but maintaining its character throughout. We were there on the first day of reopening. The staff were really welcoming and excited about us being there. The room was huge and it had a very large bed, bath with shower over, and plenty of space in tge bathroom. Its also set in beautiful grounds in a very quiet area away from any hustle and bustle. We didnt use the bar or breakfast facilities.

Some elements not quite right yet, but im sure they will be fixed and make this a stunning place to stay. Room 36: No TV in room yet, no bin in main room for tea bags etc. The bathroom complimentary shampoo etc were in dispisable plastic bottles, not an environmentally friendly reusable dispenser. There was a dent in one of the walls, maybe from building work and a plank over the window that had not been decorated. These are only small snags, all that could be fixed and make this a real treat to stay in. The pool and spa wrre not yet open, which was a surprise to us. Could have been clearer on Booking.com

This listed building is very old and is being renovated in a very classical pleasing style. It will take some time but what we saw was impressive. The dining room is fabulous and the chandrlier is awsome!! We enjoyed it very much. Because of my wife's infirmity(broken ankle)we were allocated a suit on the first floor rather than a room on floor 3-very accomodating staff!!

We were disappointed that the pool was closed-this was one of the reasons we chose the hotel and there was no warning on the booking material! The lift being out of order was a minor annoyance! We do realise that the hotel is a work in progress!!!!!

Booked as it was a ten minute drive to Southampton ferry terminal so very convenient for that. Botleigh Grange is a fantastic building with lovely grounds and beautiful rooms. Our room was a huge split-level with a separate mezzanine seating area with views of the gardens. Staff are mostly young, keen and very attentive. Breakfast is buffet style but the food was plentiful and a cut above standard hotel fare - the bar/ dining area is amazing with chandeliers, artwork and a lovely little patio outside to enjoy a drink in the evening.

Not a dislike but the hotel is clearly a work in progress having recently been acquired by new owners and reopened. Would love to come back again when it's "finished"

Don't be fooled by the exterior, inside is lovely, our room was superb, our view out the windows was not great straight onto the turret roof, we were on the top floor, lots of little extras in the bathroom, if you forgot your wash bag they had it covered. Lovely clean white fluffy towels, very cosy bedding, although the bed was too hard for my likening, food in the restaurant was lovely a small choice, staff couldn't do enough for you very polite always had a smile, breakfast plenty of choice hot or cold, parking out the front lots of room.

Some plump cushions in the blue chairs in the bar area would be nice as the chairs are very deep so sitting back is quite hard to do, I can see there still doing the place up and there doing a lovely job, when they have landscaped the gardens and tidyed up the front it will look amazing.

Large newly renovated & clean bedroom & bathroom. All ground floor public areas were renovated and welcoming. Loved the unhinged psychedelic carpet in entrance area! Friendly helpful staff. Grounds need a lot of work but are beautiful with huge ponds & very old tall trees. Good pubs nearby.

Poor quality breakfast - continental looked tired & uninviting, cooked looked & tasted as if it had been kept on heat for a while & the quality of the ingredients seemed poor. If this hotel is aiming to be an upmarket spa it needs better & more efficient service and quality. Bathroom had a shower rail but no shower curtain, with only a very narrow glass side - impossible not to end up with water over the floor.

24 reception for booking in Very easy booking in/checking out process Free convenient parking Inclusive breakfast Friendly helpful staff Only been re-opened since May 2023 and we thought, in the circumstances, they were doing a great job Hotel refresh is ongoing, so will hopefully see more improvements next visit, including reopening of the spa and pool

TV very small Shower adequate but suspect this is on the to do list Very old building but felt furniture, fixtures, carpets etc dated - though understood hotel's refresh is ongoing so, hopefully, it will continue to improve as time goes by.

Staff friendly and attentive, cleanliness throughout was excellent, room & bathroom of a very good size. Room had a bath 😊. Large bed with crispy white sheets and fluffy white towels in the bathroom. Fan in room. Love modern and period style hotels and found this hotel to be delightful in its appearance. Hotel free from traffic noise. Parked with ease to front of hotel. I certainly would recommend staying here and will certainly be returning. The reviews I read about the hotel decor being slightly out of date and requiring to be updated did make me wonder. I was pleasantly surprised in what I saw with regards to the hotel decor in which I found aesthetically pleasing to the eyes.

Breakfast - bacon rather salty for me, other than that a good breakfast! Mattress slightly firm for my liking. A very slight gap in bedroom door frame. I found the room cleaning staff talking a bit loudly to one another in the corridor about their daily tasks and a couple of doors were left to slam shut after room cleaning, (this only lasted briefly). Staff talking loud to one another from outside one bedroom to another bedroom a few doors up. I don’t expect staff to whisper, but talking in a quieter manner would be wonderful.

We stayed here for one night for our 5th wedding anniversary (we also got married here 5 years ago). I requested the same suite we had when we had our wedding and our request was met. The staff were amazing, all so attentive and polite. Breakfast was really good. I really do want this place to succeed, if they can give it the makeover haul it so desperately needs it could be amazing. It could be such a beautiful hotel with the TLC and attention it so deserves. They already have the foundations with their fabulous staff.

We were intrigued to see how much it had changed in the 5 years since we were last there. We could see the difference in the main room where they hold breakfast and the bar area adjacent to it. However the room we stayed in had not changed at all, everything was exactly the same which was so odd but also nostalgic for us. This was also the case for the halls and stairs, totally same wallpaper and carpets. The back of the building is in desperate need of some TLC, again this looked identical to how it did when we got married, probably even more tired now than it previously was. We did not have the best nights sleep as the person in the room above seemed to be constantly walking around from 4am, which we could hear their every movement

This was a last minute booking and I was expecting a "fallen grandeur" place. In fact the hotel has been recently renovated (it reopened a few weeks a go I understand) to a very high standard - albeit it is not finished yet. This is defo not a chain experience (Premier Inn etc) so there are a few rough edges but more than compensated by personal service, cleanliness and sumptuous surroundings, gardens etc. Note that the dining room is not fully open - just breakfasts at the mo - but WHAT a breakfast - freshly cooked full English with decent sausages for once. Plus all the normal breads, fruits, yoghurts etc. Thoroughly recommended. Coffee a bit meh.

Small issues - ridiculously small paper napkins at breakfast (essentially useless), and dodgy wifi, but sure these things can easily be resolved. They could also do with a cold water dispenser somewhere in the hotel.
