Location excellent Bar and food excellent. Highly recommend the afternoon tea. Staff friendly, helpful and welcoming. We can't wait to go back it was better than expected.

Only one thing we didnt like and its a shame really. Ok Room 16 has an absolutely fabulous spacious room BUT the bed on one side is so uncomfortable. Its as soft as cotton wool but too soft and it has a huge dip in the middle. I felt like I was in a hammock. Made me wonder if they put the matress topper on which explains the softness to compensate for the matress that's had its day a while ago. Opposite side of bed was flatter, didnt dip but you could feel the springs poking through Only thing that let our stay down, was the rubbish matress. Shame really But a good night's sleep is the important part of any hotel stay

Check in was quick and easy despite me arriving fairly late at night. Initial thoughts were the place was clean and well presented. Room was just the right size, not too cramped in anyway and had everything you'd expect. Shower was hot and powerful and rhe underfloor heating in the bathroom was welcome underfoot. Breakfast was your standard affair with a particularly good pot of filter coffee on offer.

My only gripe with the stay would be the noise between rooms, over the years I've learnt not to expect too much especially from older properties, but if the neighboring guest had a loud mouth to accompany their nocturnal dyspraxic movements I'd have had a fairly unsettled night.

The staff were great as was the continental breakfast. The location is close to the town centre. It is a pretty hotel with a good dining area and reasonably well-stocked bar. The hotel also serves lunches and dinners.

The size of the room and the lack of space. The furniture was shabby and the bed creaked when I turned over. The mattress was old and sagged in the centre. There was only one small drawer for clothing and a small single wardrobe. There was no shelving in the bathroom for placing toiletries or toiletry bag. In my opinion, the room was only suitable for a young backpacker, not an older woman with different requirements.

The hotel is located at the south end of town and easily walkable to all of the town's facilities (park, funfair, supermarket, bars, pier etc). The hotel staff were very attentive and whilst room 15 may be a little more expensive than some others, it is definitely worth the money, with a four-poster bed and castle theme. The bed was very comfortable and the large bath and shower were refreshing. We stuck with the included continental breakfast, however, there were plenty of opportunities to have a cooked breakfast if we had wanted (£6/person extra). The continental was nice, with croissants, toast, cooked meat, cheese and more available. We will definitely be back!

Difficult to fault the hotel without being overly critical and the only disappointing bits were a couple of minor jobs that need to be done in the room's bathroom (light switch pull handle, toilet flusher and sink taps need a bit of attention).

Lovely hotel with a lift ( which really helps!) Great location, around the corner from the Main Street. The hotel itself has a lovely outside area to sit and soak up the sun…! The hotel itself has a conservatory where u can sit and eat breakfast and a bar for evening drinks! Prices are reasonable as well which is pretty unusual these days. The owner and staff were lovely, always ready to help.

Nothing! But just a couple of “suggestions” - The shower could do with a hand rail as it’s quite a step up into it ( well our shower was anyway!). A full length mirror would be nice.

Excellent location just a 10 minute walk from the railway station and shops. Evening meal was so good, teryaki salmon with rice for my daughter and cottage pie with seasonal vegetables for me. Followed by generous sized desserts. The room was cosy but ideal for the 2 of us. Comfy bed. Continental breakfast was very fresh with a wide choice of pastries, cereals, fruit , cheese, meats etc. Our host was really helpful and attentive throughout and we were able to leave our bags until we had finished at a local spa and were ready to go home. Will definitely stay here again in the future.

At times we could hear the TV/ voices from the room next door, really clearly. Not to a point it affected our stay.

Lovely old hotel with conservatory area for eating and drinking. Close to Lord Street - walking distance into the main part of town. Lift up to 2nd floor room - good for husband with bad knees! Friendly and helpful staff. Excellent shower in the bathroom, comfy bed. Excellent breakfast - self service for continental, great choice of everything - wish I could have eaten more! The cooked breakfast was also both large and delicious. I would stay there again.

Only problem was no parking on the property. But what can you expect with an old building in a busy town. We found a non-paying space on the square just up the road where we left the car and then walked everywhere. Christmas lights were on, so very pretty!

Location was great, nice stroll into town. Great menu, food was exceptional rib eye steak was very tasty, and all the meals we had good value for money. Nice comfortable sitting area outside to enjoy a cocktail from the bar.

Room was a little small, and on an evening we could here a noise like a generator coming from floor below we were in room 6, it was rather annoying.

The staff were excellent. So friendly. Felt like family

Nothing. I think they need to tell you it is a continental breakfast and extra for cooked breakfast However I understand when they have no customers they close the bar early. Which doesn’t help when you get back and want a drink. Luckily the staff were still there and allowed us to take them up to the room which is excellent. 5stars
