A good breakfast, with a lot to choose from.Warm bedrooms. Well equipped with coffee and tea. The bathroom was modern and equipped with adequate toiletries. Rooms well kept and clean.

The hotel was vey cold in the main areas. I think the heating was fully on , but it was very cold outside. We wondered why the fireplaces were blocked up. Perhaps fires of some sort in the attractive fireplaces would enhance the ambience of the lounge and dining areas. A more comfortable lounge area with sofa and chairs would also enhance the hotel.There was nowhere comfortable to sit with our pre dinner drinks or post meal coffee/ tea.

The room was a good size with a lovely seaside decor. There was all the facilities you would need, including tasty homemade shortbread biscuits. We didn't have dinner as we had a walk into town on the evening. However, we had breakfast which was very plentiful and varied, even having eggs royale ( smoked salmon) on the menu. All the staff were helpful and friendly and it is obvious it is a family run business judging by the attention to detail. The hotel is just out of the town of Southwold making it quiet at night. It takes about 15 minutes to walk into town, but is a lovely walk.

All the staff were helpful and professional; I liked the building - very attractive - and the location, a 15-20 minute walk from town and pier, suited me well. Breakfast was excellent; parking no problem.

My room was a bit small; a chair would have been nice; and I suppose being in a fire escape room with a small hammer on the outside of the door inviting anyone to smash it raised theoretical security issues - but only theoretical ones, fortunately. The lack of a chair and desk, and the space to put them in, was a greater issue. But for the price I paid I think I got good value - as I say, everyone was most helpful and I would consider a return visit.

This was our 2nd stay here after visiting last March during the refurbishment. Once agsin we took up an offer of 3 for 2nights. Our room was compact and clean, the bathroom was very spacious. I like how rooms are only serviced upon request and you just ask to top up what you need. Breakfasts were excellent although you do need hollandaise sauce with your salmon!! But still would be great value for money to non residents. Staff friendly snd chatty.

I didnt sleep well as the heated towel rail hummed rather loudly and I could hear an extractor cutting in and out through the night.

The rooms are very well maintained and very clean. The staff are always brilliant. We have stayed here about 4 times now over the last few years when we meet up with family and we will be doing the same next year. Jen and Gareth, your staff are excellent. You couldn't fault the venue or staff. All is excellent. Breakfast is very good also.

The location of the hotel was great with just a 15 minute straight forward walk into Southwold! We arrived to be greeted with a friendly check in and clean room. The breakfast was fantastic, catering for a fresh full English breakfast. The room had everything we needed and bed was comfortable.

We didn’t spend much time in the room so it wasn’t to much of a problem for us but the tv is very small and the room to wake up too is a little bright. We stayed in room number 5 which is also next to the main corridor so you can hear people leaving there rooms etc which may not be ideal for a lay in.

I had an amazing two nights stay. All of the staff were really friendly and welcoming. My room was exceptionally comfortable and beautifully decorated. The bathroom was very clean and modern with the most gorgeous toiletries. The homemade shortbread was delicious and comes with an exceptional range of hot drinks. The breakfast was exquisite!! A mix of locally sourced produce and homemade items made it absolutely divine. I will definitely be making a return trip!

Good location to Southwold and surrounding areas, Aldeburgh etc. Friendly and helpful staff. Food lovely - good choice breakfast and evening meal. Ample parking. Nice looking hotel and lovely inside too. Would book again.

Only a small thing - main bedroom at front had a huge lovely window, radiator underneath, but shutting long curtains, blocked out the heat, so room felt chilly. However, was minus 5 on our two nights stay!!! 🥴

We stayed in the Churchill suite which was newly refurbished and fantastic. The staff were very welcoming and we particularly enjoyed the new year's eve quiz and the friendliness of all involved at the hotel. The layout of the hotel is great - a bar attached to the hotel is effectively a separate pub with outdoor tables for when the weather is better. Nice quiet location, 20 minutes walk to the seafront, a nice antidote to busy Southwold - although not as busy and manic as Aldeburgh! The restaurant wasn't open, but fish at the 'Little Fish shop' in town was great.

Property mostly in good condition and room is spacious. The hotel is mostly modernised and looks good. Excellent position for the sea. A little too far to walk with a young family. Breakfast was good

Bad smell in bathroom, When we stayed on one particular evening there were a large number of dogs (5 I think?) running around the children’s play area. Probably a one off however perhaps not ideal to allow dogs into the children’s area? The owners were complaining about not being allowed in to the hotel with them but took them into the children’s playground. Hallways could do with modernising.
