We received a very warm welcome on arrival. The atmosphere was friendly and the bar area was well-furnished and inviting. The rooms were extremely well-appointed, impeccably clean and very comfortable. All the decor had been carefully thought out, the bed was very cosy and the en suite very nicely laid out and perfectly functional (though extraction was absent). The restaurant was laid out in a considered manner to allow for privacy of conversation and once again the environment was spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated. The service we received was second to none. The food was amazing in quality and quantity. What an exceptional chef Jane is! Christine, the owner, fulfilled our every need, including opening the bar to serve us drinks before dinner and putting a birthday candle in a meal to help us celebrate. Nothing was too much trouble. Rarely does an establishment live up to its reviews, but The Red Lion exceeded our expectations by far. We would not hesitate in recommending it to anyone.
With exception of the lack of bathroom extraction (there was a window for ventilation), we couldn’t fault a thing.

Our room was beautifully decorated and tastefully furnished, with an extremely comfortable super-king size bed. The full English breakfast was one of the best hotel breakfasts we’ve ever had, anywhere! The host/manager/owner, Chris, was very friendly and helpful.
We stayed in room 5, which has an en suite ‘wet room’. This room is particularly designed for the benefit of the disabled guest, with an open shower, low sink, raised toilet and lots of grab-rails. Unfortunately the only thing missing was a seat/stool/chair in the shower. However, when I casually mentioned this omission on checkout, it transpired that there is actually a choice if 3 different stools available, however Chris had forgotten to mention this when we checked in! The moral of this story - if you’re re staying in room 5 and need a disabled stool for the shower, ask for one!

The wonderful host, Christine, met us on arrival to show us to our room, which was beautifully decorated and tastefully furnished. The ‘super-king-sized” bed was extremely comfortable and a real treat. The full English breakfast, which we had delivered to our room, was probably the best hotel breakfast we’ve ever had, anywhere! My husband and I only stayed here for one night, but it was everything we were hoping for, and more - without a doubt we will definitely book to stay again!
The only thing we were sad about was that we didn’t get to meet the wonderful resident dog, Crumble, who unfortunately wasn’t very well at the time of our visit. Hopefully we will have the pleasure of meeting her next time we stay here.

Breakfast choices were very good and cooked to perfection. The location was excellent for our needs; a quiet, pretty village but only minutes form the main A road. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The whole place was beautifully decorated and had a lovely garden and outdoor seating area.
The duvet was very heavy. The pillows were lumpy. The thermostat in the room was broken so it was impossible to turn down the heating. The owner knew about this in advance and could have given us a different room as we were the only guests staying for 2 of our 3 nights.

What a perfect place to stay, beautiful rooms that are decorated impecably and so very comfortable. Best bed I have slept in for years and just didn't want to leave. Christine is a fabulous host, so friendly and welcoming amd of course meeting Crumble her gorgeous dog was a highlight. We had breakfast in the morning before we left and it delicious and piping hot. You can't go wrong here at all. Thank you Christine and Crumble....We will definitely stay here again when up this way next.
What can I say....nothing negative at all!

From the moment we arrived and greeted by the lovely Chris we felt relaxed and at home. Our room was cleaned and decorated to a very high standard and everything we needed was to hand, this continued throughout the property. The whole stay felt very relaxed. The meals were excellent and of great quality cooked by Jane and both of them couldn’t do enough for us, Chris was so lovely, the perfect host. Didn’t really want to leave, would highly recommend and definitely would return.

We booked the accessible room for two nights and can honestly say it is the best accessible room we’ve ever had. The wet room was enormous, exceptionally clean and my husband had no problems with access at all. The room itself was huge , immaculately presented and well laid out. It was so nice to be able to move about easily and still have room to sit and relax on the sofa or one of the armchairs . Christine was very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble for her or her staff. We ate in both nights and also breakfast. All meals were presented well and very tasty- the beer battered onion rings were very light and moreish !

Lovely, cosy, exceptionally clean inn. Christine the host and all the other staff were friendly and professional and made us feel very welcome. The bedrooms are a good size, comfy and very pretty with large windows and lots of light.
Everything was lovely and there were no negatives. My only suggestion for improvement is a nicer hand soap in the bathroom. I think a room that lovely deserves a more fancy hand soap as a special treat!

Everything !! From a warm arrival to leaving, everything was perfect. The hospitality was faultless. Our double room was spotlessly clean. So pretty and comfortable. We ate in the restaurant. Service and food was great. Nice relaxed ambience. (You must reserve a table) The chef worked her socks off. (Sorry about the birthday sprinkles. I tried to scoop as many as possible up)
Nothing not to like apart from wish we could've stayed longer.
