The lake and lounge rooms were lovely. The dining area had a great atmosphere with the grand fireplace, tapestry and spacious dining tables. The staff were informal and approachable with the dining lady the only person who seemed to be informative and clearly unhappy. Hope she's just having a bad day. Breakfast was great with quality sausages and baked beans amongst the hot buffet. Looking for a grand informal place with wow moments, then this is your spot. Check out the lake through the bar area ( which is a bit out of keeping with the rest of the place). Its great too. we will definitely be coming back

The fire alarm went off in the night: a guest moving through a fire door?

check in and out easy, wonderful room very spacious with everything working except one light. Enjoyable dinner that was piping hot. Breakfast good with few hiccoughs. best thing was the retained structures such as huge wooden beams and stone staircase and walls. Beautiful location in interesting grounds. worth seeking out the special rooms such as The Courtyard. Don't force alcohol down your throat. large public rooms

dinner later than would have liked so best to book via their app if you can make it work. used for coach parties so need to be aware. parking some way from entrance.

breakfast was delicious, bed was comfortable, big TV screen, deep bath, hot water, good room, nice view. grounds were beautiful, which made it all the more relaxing, the small lake with the ducks, fish and bats was a delight. hearing all the birds and seeing flying insects was the best thing ever. staff were really nice and helpful, and the gin and tonic was worthy of a mention.

it was a little run down - the toilet flush didn't work properly, needed three flushes for complete evac. the shower head holder was broken, some drawers were missing handles, my 'double' bed slid apart and needed to be pushed back together.

We stayed in the Chapel (room 4) for our anniversary - a stunning room with fabulous lakeside views. The staff had prepared the room beautifully. This is a period property so if you want clean lines and modern facilities this isn’t for you. We love the charm of a period property and all the quirks which come with it. The building is simply stunning. We had dinner out on the terrace overlooking the lake. Breakfast was good. This was by far the best room we have ever stayed in.

Towels and toilet paper could have been of better quality

Had to change rooms due to shower being broken but this wasn’t an issue for us or the hotel. Unfortunately to to COVID restrictions breakfast was minimal (breakfast price should’ve been lowered to reflect this really as paid online but not made aware of it until arriving) staff did the best they could and with a smile on their faces. Overlooking the lake and being able to sit was watch the wildlife was very relaxing. Just what we wanted

Not being able to have a cooked breakfast. But that was starting up a couple of days after we left so don’t me stop you staying here

The hotel is in stunning premises, even more picturesque than in the photos. The staff are helpful and hardworking, yet unpretentious. The location is very handy for Ironbridge and wider Shropshire gems like Much Wenlock and Bridgnorth. The full English breakfast is nicely cooked and served in a gorgeous dining room.

A fridge in the room would have enhanced our stay; HP sauce rather than a lower quality alternative brown sauce would have rendered the breakfast even more delicious. These are minor suggestions for improvement.

The hotel on the whole was very well kept. The staff very friendly. We stayed the weekend England were playing football. They had arranged that if England won we could have buy one get one free a drink after the game. Would like to give a big shout out to John the night manager. Great guy.

Everything was lovely. However the only thing letting it down was the very poor bathroom. We did stay in one of the historic rooms so expected some age. The bathroom was not well kept and I didn't feel I could use the bath.

Ground floor family room 28, spacious, clean, single bed, large bed easily fit 3 children under the age of 10 & 1 adult, skylight in the room, asked for extra towels didn’t have to wait hit them straight away, was helped by staff to the room with luggage. Breakfast was buffet style, pleasant enough, food was hot, lots of cereal breakfast bars/fruit, hash browns, mushrooms, beans, sausage, eggs, bacon, were vegan but still lots of choice.

breakfast there was a good choice of cold and hot food. plenty of different choices of cereal and variety of items in the fried breakfast. Room very quirky. Floor slopped but made us laugh.

Breakfast No fried bread available. Bed unfortunately was not as comfy. When looked under the mattress quilts had been placed to keep it level, unfortunately this did not resolve the issue.
