Lovely location, the hotel decor was really nice, loved the wood effects around the place and the old pictures on the walls, really gave the place a nice feel. The room was really well presented and the bed nice and comfy, everything we needed was there and it smelled fresh. Staff were very welcoming and friendly too, and the breakfast was great, lots of choice and all fresh, we really did enjoy our stay.

I felt some things were overlooked hence why I've only scored a 9, we struggled to fmd a menu in the bar, so had to look online, but there wasn't a drinks menu on there either so had to ask what coffees were available from one of the bar staff. The beer glasses were misty, they just looked old and need of a good clean, perhaps even replaced with new. We found a lot of chairs that were heavily stained too which was a shame, two couches in the bar area, and the chairs in the restaurant were staied, also, the carpet in our room was staľned too. Having said that though, this has no impact on our overall opinion of the place, and if we are ever in Warrington again then we defmitely would stay here, we loved it.

Had 9 rooms for a family meet up. Great location, great play area for the kids, great evening meal and breakfast. Comfy bed, clean room which was very nice. All the rooms were lovely and well presented and clean. Staff were friendly and helpful relating to the restaurant and the rooms. Would stay again.

Maybe not somewhere it you want a few drinks in the evening. Whilst 3 of our party sat in the bar area all the lights were turned off so they left and the woman made a comment along the lines of....if that isn't a hint I don't know what is" which was pretty rude given the money spent on rooms, food and drinks for 20 people. Just giving some notice saying they were closing up would have sufficed. This was a lovely family catch up which was great apart from this one thing.

We had the Black Swan superior double room which was very spacious - decor was not modern however this was expected and was in keeping with the period of the property/presented as per the images on the site, The room itself was clean with the usual complimentary coffee/tea supplies. Bed was a little firmer than we are used to having in accomodations however it wasn't entirely uncomfortable as it didn't keep us awake! Shower pressure was average but we found the bathroom very warm as we were not able to work out how to turn the heated towel rails off, which is probably due to our unfamiliarity with this type of item. Room was initially a little overheated but we were able to open the window to allow cool air in. Would recommend some instructions for basic use of heating/shower operations.. a lot of the equipment is different to Australia and we found generally with all our accoms that we had to work out how to use things or, in some cases, not use them at all due to lack of instruction. Location suited us for a midway point to our next destination and, with parking and breakfast included in the price, it represented good value. Breakfast was cooked independently - not served buffet style - which was good as it allowed you to customise the way eggs were served however there was some cereals/fruit available on nearby table to also help yourself to along with juices.

The duty manager was very accommodating with our late arrival, which we had advised in advance, and he made sure that we did not miss out on our evening meal with the kitchen due to close at 20:00. Also, Linzi at breakfast made sure that we had prompt service as we had to be on the road early to ensure that we were back in Moscow, Ayrshire, in time for the football match on Sky ... 😉😎🤫 Also, the Cheshire IPA hit the mark ... 😉

The only adverse comment is that our evening meal did take a while to be served as we ordered from our room and advised that we would be in the bar dining area at 20:00 but we were not served until 20:30, however, that was perhaps understandable, as there was a private function in the main salon ... 🤔😉🤫 There was a bit of landscaping going on in preparation for the summer trade but it did not affect our stay ... 🤫

Lovely little place situated in a pretty location. Food and drinks were good. Room was clean and I had my little dog with me and he was welcomed and had a bowl in the room for him and a towel which was appreciated. It’s an old inn so noise from the bar was quite loud and I could hear neighbours clearly but nothing that kept me awake. Was a lovely stay. Whilst dogs are not allowed in the restaurant which is fair enough they are welcomed into the bar and you can have food in the bar. The breakfast was excellent.

There wasn’t anything I didn’t like.

Room was fantastic and close to everything. Food was very good. Staff were extremely polite and helpful. Parking area was very spacious and well lit. We had two relatives also staying and one of them had reduced mobility and they got a ground floor room close to the car park which made their stay very easy and comfortable. Anna at reception is a huge asset to the hotel as are the other staff members. They also have a great entertainment program on offer on selected dates but not during our stay. Highly recommended.

Breakfast was not a full English cooked breakfast which is only available on Saturdays and Sundays. Had to make do with an omelette which was well cooked and tasty but not what I wanted. To be fair there was plenty of cereals, fruit, toast, croissants, yoghurt etc, so one would not be hungry but as someone who likes an English/Irish style breakfast I was a little dissappointed.

Staff were amazing and breakfast was lovely. Rooms were good but the downfall was the bath(was looking forward to this with only having a shower at home) silicone looked like it was all loose and mould. Also tried to make coffee with the facilities in the room and it was curdling (asked for a small jug of fresh milk, which was soon rectified) Beds were big but hard (my own preference though probably)

Hard beds and mouldy silicone around the bath (easy fix though)

The location was lovely and we loved the fact it was quite rural, it was a lovely well looked after old beams building with beautiful big stone fire places and plenty of parking and a lovely garden. We very much liked our accommodation, it was very nice, neat and a big pretty looking room with the usual Coffee / tea making facilities, but had my favourite quality Borders Biscuits 😋. All the staff were very friendly, helpful and professional. 🥰👌

Unfortunately for us, the only thing that let's this otherwise lovely place down is the very disappointing Breakfast here, as it was not as good as we are so used to receiving at this level of establishment ! As it was just not as varied on the Continental selection, a serious lack of iteams to choose from and there was no full English breakfast at all, the only cooked option available was for either, a Bacon or a Sausage sandwich ! But the coffee ☕ was very nice. 🥰

The staff were friendly, efficient and good humoured despite the pub being very busy on a hot day. The food was very good with a wide range of choices, well presented and generous and the ice cream selection was a nice bonus. The pub is handy for the M6 but far enough away not to be affected by noise.

Our stay was in the middle of the recent heatwave and the bedroom was very warm and airless despite a fan and open windows. We appreciated that a fan had been provided, though. The pub was busy all evening and there was quite a lot of noise from the garden. Neither of these aspects spoiled our stay, however.

Staff (as has been in the past) are exceptional. All whom I interacted with were friendly, courteous and professional. The physical building is quaint and charming, but well maintained (carpet is clean, walls are in good repair, doors all shut and lock appropriately, tables in dining area and bar were wiped clean quickly after guests left).

The breakfast was not as I recalled from my last visit, perhaps it was the same, but I had recalled the ability to order eggs etc. and this time there were only pastries, bread, cereal, juice (very nice selection however) coffee and the host offered me a sausage sandwich with two choices of bread (which was tasty).
