Convenient for our purpose, nice pub, free parking & adequate facilities.

Rooms a little dated but ok for a convenient stop over. Bed was too hard for me, I had to sleep on top of the quilt to soften it.

Room was clean and comfortable - Maybe a small fridge could have been provided, i was hapy that free bottled water was available from the bar.

I paid for the late check 1pm at a cost of £20 however, at 12.59 we received a loud knock at the door from the tall gentleman who initially booked us in and shouted are you ready for check out its time. When I replied ok will be 5 mins i never got a response which i thought was very ruse and I believe this gentleman needs some serious training in customer care, He is definitely the wrong man for front of house dealings with customers, when we went into the restaurant for lunch even the young waitress said to me and my partner to ignore him and sorry that he banged on your door, which was a little unusual especial as she said this quite loud in front of many other customers eating lunch. Change this gentleman attitude or change him all together and you have a perfect Accomodation.

The staff were so friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean. Facilities were great. Great location we managed to visit quite a few places.

Food was ok although some things on the menu weren't available, we didn't have breakfast but we did have an evening meal. There were only 4 coffee bags in the room when we arrived so we had a coffee each (2 of us) before we went out so there was only enough for one cup each the following morning. Also as it was a family room there wasn't anything the little ones could have like a hot chocolate or even some juice ( we did take some soo not a huge problem) and we did need to ask for 2 more glasses as there were 4 of us and only 2 glasses.

The staff/service was first class, free parking a bonus & food was lovely, generous portions and relaxed atmosphere. Rooms were clean & well equipped, we requested a disabled room which not only came with a spacious walk in shower room but also a pull cord for help with reassurance that somebody would always be available. Would certainly come back again, not many places can offer/cater for disabled friendly service in Whitby, I have been holidaying in Whitby for over 40 years and I would certainly be recommending Penny Hedge.

There was nothing I disliked, I was pleasantly surprised what they had to offer, it’s not easy to find disabled friendly places in Whitby.

Food great, location great, staff so friendly and attentive.

Bed needed a mattress topper as it was a bit uncomfortable.

Nice large room next to the pub restaurant. Coffee making facilities in the room with a good choice including peppermint tea! Wide choice of options for breakfast in the morning too. The staff were great, particularly the lady on reception who was very helpful and welcoming when we checked in. Plenty of onsite parking.

A bit noisy in the corridor and from the room above. People shouting as they went past when returning from a night out which kept waking us up throughout the night. For the price, it wasn’t great value for money. Didn’t include breakfast either so we had to pay extra. The omelette I chose was very oily so didn’t eat the majority of it. A bit far out to walk into central Whitby.

Disabled room was of a good size, and comfortable, with a large wet room which had plenty of grab rails and well laid out The food was good wholesome and tasty. The staff were very friendly, attentive and knowledgeable making our stay a very good experience.

The hotel area is due an update on the decorations, although it was clean. Other than that everything was great.

Breakfast was excellent and all day / night staff extremely friendly and helpful

We paid £150.00 for our room which was lovely but have stayed at the Angel in the Centre on a weekend for £70.00 and the rooms are a lot bigger and obviously the location. Just thought a little steep in comparison. Also, when booking I booked 2 rooms for 2 couples for my partners 50th birthday and stipulated on the booking that the friends joining us was a surprise, unfortunately this was not read prior to our arrival and when checking in (with my partner next to me) I was also asked about Mark Peacock (the other room) whilst my partner was next to me. an extremely apologetic receptionist and very friendly but spoilt the surprise a bit.

Andy, Debbie, Lauren, and Paula were extremely welcoming. I had flown from Florida to Manchester and had driven all day in bad fog with jet leg. What a beautiful destination the Penny Hedge was. Excellent range of well-kept beers, great evening menu, excellent full English breakfast, clean rooms - slept 10 hours. What a positive asset to Whitby. I would stay here every time !!

Food was amazing Staff where lovely and polite Room was massive and super clean Location was great with plenty of buses to take you into whitby, was also a lovely walk. The hubby was very happy as he could see a screwfix store from the room window 😆 Lovely outdoor seating area with a small play area for the little man. Bath and shower in the room was fab Omg the tea and coffee facilities in the room was amazing the biscuits where lush. Only stayed 2 nights and the room was cleaned on the second day, housekeeping spot on. Booking again with my sister and kids Amazing breakfast and price was fantastic Thank you for a great stay

To be honest I haven't got anything negative to say about the place
