On Arrival I was greeted with a friendly smile. A bonus for me was that due to the length of my stay they offered me an upgrade from a single to a double room. The room offered on-suite toilet and shower. All very clean and tidy. The breakfast was excellent. Buffet style which suites me fine with cereal plus a choice of hot foods. The hotel also had a bar where you could buy alcoholic drinks and a very good food menu. Very close to the train station and shops which I used every day.

There was nothing at the Waverley hotel that I did not like.

Location ideal, near both bus and train station and close to town centre . Staff all friendly and helpful. Highlight was the excellent breakfast. Self service but English breakfast items were freshly cooked. Also included choice of cereals, yogurt, toast, orange or apple juice, tea or coffee. Great start to the day

Room was a bit dated and although non smoking throughout I did smell cigarettes. I originally thought the shower was poor but it just took longer than normal to heat up to temperature. I found the stairs steep and felt I had to take extra care carrying my suitcases up and down.

We travelled up from Liverpool for a new year break away, from the minute we walked in to when we left the team at the hotel went out of their way to make our stay a good one. The room was spotless and very comfortable, located on the top floor and a skylight that gave good view. We had breakfast both mornings, the full English was especially appreciated after new year night out haha ! But also coffee and cereals available. The bar offered food at selected times given the time of the year, we had a couple of meals that were very nice. The bar was open to the public but never overcrowded and did provide a later service for staying guests. The owner/manager also allowed us to eat takeaway to watch the football in the bar which was very much appreciated and meant we could stay comfortable at the hotel. New Year’s Eve we went into the town which is a nice small area with everything easy to get to , roughly a 10 minute walk away from the hotel. We would definitely return here and would recommend to anyone looking for a quiet night or two away, great value for money.

This hotel is in an old building with loads of character (be prepared to carry your luggage up lots of stairs!) The staff were super and definitely went the extra mile. There is a cosy pub that offers evening meals and we had a full English breakfast in the morning. Tea and coffee and a kettle were provided in the room; the private bathroom had a shower with shampoo and shower gel. The location is quite convenient and the stay was very good value for money.

The only problem we had was that we couldn't open the roof window at all, so there was no ventilation and the room got quite stuffy and hot overnight (even though the weather was not hot). An electric table fan was provided but I don't like to sleep with a fan going.

Very friendly and welcoming staff ,good food at reasonable prices, close to the local theatre (our reason for visit) and free parking nearby , a parking token is given to enable unloading and checking in and out, very comfortable bed

No lift so stairs to bedrooms but in a hotel of this age and design pretty difficult to remedy, a bit of updating required in places, but a large property so not easy to manage except in an area at a time

We always have a fantastic stay here, the staff are accommodating and pleasant, they go out of their way to make sure you get what you need. Had our lunch in the bar before heading out and oh my days I wasn't expecting what I got for £8-£9 ! Huge ! And very tasty. Chips are lovely

Bit hot on the night but that's not the hotels fault it's summer. Also I really wanted to jump on the balloons but I don't they'd of let me 🤣

Staff were extremely friendly and apologised for the noise issue we experienced (not the staffs fault in any way!) and even had vegan milk for us to take to the room.

Slight noise issue but again, no fault to the hotel or staff in the slightest. Was unable to have a full vegan breakfast due to lack of items but cereals etc were available.

Well this place customer service is better than the ritz. I turned ill on my stay here Irene the morning receptionist could not do enough for me even let me park in the managers packing space. The lady behind the bar was brilliant as well table service with drinks and food even made me a hot toddy when I was poorly I watched her have her own family fetch colouring books and pencils for a lady who was struggling to keep her kids busy. They just can't do enough for you. A++++ from me will be staying again

The hotel is basic but clean I feel if revamped would be the best for miles please keep up the good work

The location was a great base for exploring an area of Cumbria we hadn't visited before. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, nothing was too much trouble for them. The breakfasts were excellent, and being self service was great. The evening meals were bar meals but the menu had a very wide range. Both quality and quantity of food were fantastic.

Nothing negative.

Rooms were clean with a comfortable bed and a nicely refurbished bathroom. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The buffet style breakfast was excellent.

Although the breakfast room and bar are refurbished and pleasant, the hotel is quite dark, with dated decor in the hallways and bedrooms. The stairs are narrow and steep a d there is no lift.
