The location is excellent. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was plentiful and delicious. The room was spacious, warm and comfortable.

I was aware that, being right by the river, the car park might flood. There was a warning so we moved our car to the nearby NCP and assumed the Hotel would completely cover the charge as we had paid for parking in advance and eventually they did but it was not straightforward as it might have been. Also on our last night the TV aerial/signal failed. we had to enquire rather than being told and we’re not offered any compensation. It was a wet evening in December so we didn’t want to go out but the offer of a free drink or reduced price meal in the restaurant would have made us feel a bit better.

A lovely hotel, great location, reception and bar staff were friendly and helpful! The rooms were nice, bathrooms are in need of updating but aware that they are having renovations presently, we would definitely recommend this hotel and hope to return next year for another visit!

The receptionist was very welcoming. The room was spotless, added bonus of a fan in your room, which definitely helped with the humidity as it was hot! hot! hot! The breakfast was brilliant, you just help yourself to anything from the hotplate or if you didn't want that there were croissants, yoghurt or fruit. This is our second time staying there and certainly won't be our last.

The only downside which is no fault of the hotel itself is the noise that comes from the bars across the river. At night it can be quite loud but you can ask for a quieter room if you wish but you won't get the lovely river view from your room.

The location is very good--just near the Ouse bridge into the historic part of the city and a short walk to all the sights. The room was spacious and the river view beautiful--we found it well worth paying a little more for this. The desk staff were very helpful, and their restaurant recommendation on the first night was spot-on. We would certainly stay here again.

The weather happened to be very warm when we visited, and without air conditioning and the windows only able to be opened a few inches, the room got warm at night as well. The oscillating fan we found in the closet was a help.

clean room, excellent friendly staff

the bed and pillows we had weren’t the most comfortable compared to budget hotels, Premier Inns for example

The room was in a good place. Good size. Comfortable and warm bed. Clean enough. Notice now, that, since the pandemic they only change the cups and spoons and reload once you've left/checked out. So I'll have to make sure if I stay here again, I will ask for more tea stuff and clean cups etcetera at times when I go to the bar passing the reception desk. Eateries, bars/pubs to sit outside by the sea front. Hear those birds in the morning. Becoming easier each time I come back to York to find myself around going on eating and pub crawls. And for those who like night clubs they are two across the street from the hotel. Safe to cross zones pelican crossings et cetera right outside them.

Seems I can't find item when I get back home. Important to me though. They tell me they'll look for it.

A great location, easy to walk to everything. The room was spacious with a large comfortable bed & the breakfast was very good. Definitely worth paying the extra for a river view, we could even see the top of York Minster

We did half board which I wouldn’t do again, the breakfast was great but dinner a little disappointing as they didn’t change the menu for our 2 nights, apparently they usually do ! There are lots of restaurants and pubs all around so would’ve been nice to go out for dinner in the evening. However if you prefer to stay at the hotel the half board is a good option & just hope the menu changes!

Central location. 10 minutes walk to the Minster and Shambles, great shops and restaurants all nearby. 15 minute walk from the station along the riverbank.. Ask for a river view room! While a little tired it's clean. Excellent check-in, rooms ready at 1pm. Friendly and helpful staff. Room serviced and towels changed during two night stay. Reviews of this hotel have been mixed so we were pleasantly surprised it was better than we'd thought for a 2*

Room very stuffy and being a second floor the sash window only opened to 8" which didn't allow much air in. A fan is provided but AC needs fitting. Hairdryer in the bathroom totally inefficient and kept stopping, presumably as it's overheating. Hate bathroom hairdryers as you have to wait til the mirror demists before being able to see. Also hate dryers where you have to keep your finger on the switch! Really not user-friendly. Pillows could do with replacing, a bit flat.

The staff were exceptional- they were polite, friendly, helpful and even though they were clearly very busy, they always made time and answered any questions. They were really approachable and some of the nicest and most helpful hotel staff I have ever encountered. The breakfasts were lovely - hot, plentiful and fresh and the evening meal was delicious too! I recommend eating here. The price of wine was extremely reasonable and the seating area is lovely - overlooking the river with plenty of comfortable seating. This hotel is a little gem!

Beware of outside noise. This is not the hotel's fault - it is a central location - but both nights I was woken by revellers at around 1am, and police sirens blaring. Take earplugs and you'll be fine!!
