Monday morning breakfast was just OK. Hard boiled eggs, mini muffins, and bagels. From the online reviews, I was expecting more. I will be teaching once a week at Dominican University so proximity is very important to me. The location was perfect. The price was reasonable.

The poor Internet signal bothered me when I had work to do for the following morning. There were times when there was no signal. It may have just been the room, but I would’ve appreciated advance notice on this. The breakfast was just satisfactory. It was more of a grab and go type of breakfast. There were no Coke or Diet Coke in the lounge area. It was all out.

The bed was quite comfortable. I brought my own pillows. The mini refrigerator has a full top freezer with its own door. The microwave and coffee maker worked. Plenty of hot water for the shower and sink. I had a desk and a table and a little counter in the corner by the clothes rod. Plenty of space to lay things out for the week I was there. The room was clean. Like many facilities in San Rafael, there were some ants wandering about on the surfaces, looking for food. I kept my food in the refrigerator so it was fine. The complementary breakfast included bagels, cereal, fresh pineapple and, on most day, hard boiled eggs. A couple of day there were no eggs. The on-site Italian restaurant has great dinners. It's closed Sunday and maybe Monday. I was busy at school all day and they fed me there. If you want something with pretty, updated interiors, you will have to pay a lot more and go someplace else. This is a place to sleep and it's a darned good place to sleep.

The WiFi was fine for downloading email and using a browser. You couldn't stream video with it or use Zoom. I went to Dominican University's library when I needed Zoom, as I was there for Dominican classes.

The hotel is family run. Marcelo the owner greeted me at checkin. An Amazon package had arrived before me and Chrissy came in on her day off to ensure I got it. The cleaning crew were thorough and friendly, satisfying requests with smiles. While Continental breakfasts are usually only a roll, coffee and fruit, Villa Inn had hard boiled eggs, toasted bagels w cream cheese, muffins, cereals and juice. Good coffee with real h&h. The happy hour in the restaurant was excellent. Wine $6 and other deals. I had a Burrata cheese/Heirloom tomato salad, roasted Brussels sprouts w Pecorino cheese and a generous pour of excellent Italian wine for $25! David the chef and Drew the wine steward/waiter were fun and efficient. Wifi was strong. Many tv/movie stations. I caught some Wimbledon matches. The bed was comfy w good quality percale sheets. Thick white towels in the bath. AC was good. Nice mature gardens. While the property is older and some wear and tear is evident here and there, I didn't see any of the worn carpet described in other posts. Boyd Memorial Park is nearby and accessible. If you take the road directly across the street and go up through lovely neighborhoods it meets an entrance to the park. Well maintained safe trails go to the top where you'll find gorgeous views. A 1 hour rt workout. You can walk to downtown in 20 min. or Uber for $5. I will happily return to Villa Inn next visit.

Printer wasn't available for boarding passes. I used my phone boarding pass but like a paper back up.

The on-site restaurant (lunch dinner) serves the guest continental breakfast and it's exceptional. The attendant will cook you a waffle. Butter and a massive pitcher of syrup are at the ready. She cut up fresh pineapple each morning. She prepares hard boiled eggs to go with the usual fare of bagels, muffins, and boxed cereal. Hot water for tea, and fresh coffee. The building is 60 years old, so it looks a little worn, but it's set back from the busy avenue and there's plenty of parking. On-site laundry and vending machines. The bed was comfortable. Everything worked.

The room behind me shared a bathroom wall and it was fabulous at transmitting the racket the celebrants produced at midnight and later. I brought my own fleece blanket to augment the provided bedding. You could run the heat to keep warm under the scanty covers, but I preferred to add a layer and not have the wall unit cycling on and off.

The facility is a great value and more than what we expected. Even with our late check-in, there were still parking spaces available which made it a small walk to our room. The staff is genuinely friendly and they make you feel like family upon arrival. The room we had was bigger than we expected. It also had a small kitchenette with an eating area and a separate bedroom for the kids. The main area is spacious. The surrounding rooms were quiet. Although the room was a little dated, we could tell that it was being renovated. It was a very convenient and comfortable stay.

The owner and T were giving me ideas where to hike. They were very welcoming and during my stay I would go speak with T, who originally was in training, but was successful, outgoing and smart so was working solo. There was a restaurant attached to the hotel. The room was good size. Little table to eat at. Good size bathroom. Bed was comfy and plenty of lighting. Refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker.

Friendly and accommodating staff. Room was commodious. Checkout time is noon and checkin is 3pm, both of which are more generous than what you usually see --- makes it not so rushed when leaving. Decent breakfast. A cut above the typical basic motel.

Restaurant was closed during our stay. At the breakfast, they started to close up slightly before the stated time so we couldn't get waffles. Not exactly close to the center of town.

The Inn was set in well tended grounds and was in a good position for access to the 101. Downtown San Raphael less than a mile away so easily walkable for an amble around the eclectic selection of bars and restaurants. Room was well set out with a good size table and chairs for dining. Continental breakfast in the adjoining restaurant was decent. Really appreciated the well priced laundry facilities.

The room was dated but clean and the shower was excellent, this really was a good value for the price and the staff was amazing. The breakfast was simple but good enough, and they will make you a waffle if you ask!

The wifi was spotty at best and only good for phone use, do not plan on streaming or getting work done on a laptop or tablet.

The room was clean and spacious, the bed was very comfortable and the heater worked great on a cold night. It was super easy to jump on the freeway and get to the city in minutes.All in all, it's a good room.for a good price and I will go back.

If you can get past chipped and cracked paint in the ceiling, cabinets and tub, this is a great place to stay. It is very clean, just a little tired. The continental breakfast was very basic. It would have been much better if it included yogurt.
