This was perfect for a night's stay in Ouray - in fact, we wished we could stay longer. The room may have been a little smaller than some of the places we'd stayed on our trip, but it was very comfortable and homely and was in a lovely timber house in a beautiful setting with a lovely breakfast room and lounge area. The host was very welcoming and made a delicious breakfast which was included in the price (unlike most places we stayed), making Black Bear Manor also very good value for money, as well as being one of the nicest places we stayed in during a 3-week trip. Wholly recommend it.

I stayed one night at Black Bear Manor, which is located just a short walk from the main street in Quray and near along the cliff surrounding the town. Happy Hour had just started when I arrived when I checked in to my large and clear bedroom and was greeted by the property hostess. There was a sign-up for breakfast the next day, and it was tasty and a tremendous way to start the day and my exploring the area. I will be back again! This time I hope that I have time to take advantage of the hot tub onsite!

I lucked into a king suite with a spa bathroom and private patio at the last moment. I'm on the backend of a seven week road trip, so luxury was not in my budget. I'm guessing my karma was good, as they had a one night stay available at a very reduced rate and on the Thursday before Labor Day weekend! Comfortable, relaxing, luxurious are all words I'd use to describe the Inn. Add that to the breathtaking beauty of the mountains, and the serenade of the nearby brook as the surroundings, and it was hard to leave. The staff was welcoming and helpful. Happy hour and breakfast were great, as was the coffee bar.

Both breakfasts were wonderful—quiche one morning and peach stuffed French toast the next. Portions were overly generous! Comfortable bed, thick towels, comforter mad for a luxurious feel.

My only recommendation would be for our room specifically: remove one of the 3 dressers and put in a second reading chair.

it was very comfortable, the common areas very spacious the observation desk was so comfy and special! in Ouray the mountains are fascinating. you can enjoy it up there. Extra fridge where we could store our perishable food. breakfast was very special. you order, they make it for you.

we had free coffee, tea for 24/7 at the main hall. small shopping area at the corner. Receptionist was very comforting, kind person. outside sitting area, and no smoking in the whole property!

Breakfast was amazing, the best part of the stay. The hot tub jets were very strong, like getting a back massage.

Was given room 7 which is very small. The king bed takes up the whole room. The toilet is located right beside the head of the bed. There is no closet or anywhere in the room to hang clothes on hangers.

Loved Ouray and the location of this B&B. It was also close to a pristine stream flowing from Box Canyon Springs. We spent a lot of of time sitting on a bench beside the stream just relaxing and taking in the beautiful Mountain scenery. Our king room was very nice and clean with a private balcony to exit without going through the main living areas. The breakfast was good but nothing so special as to remember. I’d definitely enjoy a stay at Black Bear Manor again.

Respectfully, the male owner/host bordered being unwelcoming with too much of an “in charge” or “controlling” attitude. We expect it was just his personality type or perhaps he felt a need to ensure all the “rules” or policies were understood and strictly adhered to.

Breakfast was a treat enjoyed on the patio with other guests. Hot fresh scrambled eggs with bacon, although not kept adequately supplied on time for all to choose with meal. Prepared dishes appreciated.

Exhaust fan in bathroom needs repair/replacement for noise created by fan! It must have disturbed other guests when on. Climate of August was warmer than we were comfortable with in our #5 room even with an AC floor unit on temperature 66 and an 8" battery operated fan I brought with us wafting across bed, but it was not able to sufficiently cool room until after midnight when I opened both a screened window and back door. Bathroom is tiny with its door an obstacle to toilet. A pocket door would have been better. We always prefer to support B & B owners and mostly forgiving of minor inconveniences.

Loved the jetted tub and the hosts serving breakfast, happy hour, and having coffee and water available all day.

Room might need a little upgrading in the bathroom. The steam option in the shower, vent and a light didn't work.

It was comfortable, the guests were friendly, and Elizabeth, the temporary manager, is a jewel. The location was great....off the main street but easily accessible and within walking distance of the Main Street of Ouray and Box Falls.

Can't think of a thing that I would change.
