Room and bed were fine. Cleaning staff did an excellent job in the rooms and all over. Location excellent. I was initially turned off because the staff was a little unfriendly and would not take my luggage for a few hours before I checked in without charging me - which is ridicious. They can offer luggage storage for a fee for those who don't stay there and those who check out late. One of the managers was highly unprofessional and tried to reprimand me for my comments to them and made excuses for their bad behavior. In the end, I enjoyed the hostel and the staff and would stay there again. Fellow travelers were awesome and brought me back to the old days before cell phones when people would chat and share. That was great! Met quite a few great people!

Charging for luggage for a few hours for incoming guests. Ridiculous! They are the only hostel that does this.

Reception area looks different from the pictures, (they may have changed the furniture from place and enlarged the social area, with 2 couches in stead of only one and table for computer) check in was smooth as expected. city was hot, place was hot in few areas not covered by the air conditioning however in the room had a portable air conditioned which makes the stay more confortable

Nothing related to the hotel or staff, but crowd, upon arrival, as soon I opened the door around 22:00 a guy was standing behind the door, waitting for the toilet to be released, when it was all dark, was a little ackward. Also funny was the naked guy who left from the above mentioned toilet. he was walking "free" on the room like a clothing optional place, on the lower bed with his "peaches" up (waitting for something I guess) all night. It was a funny thing to see. I am more than used to such, so it was not a bother at all, just for you guys to know what to expect. I like this hostel experiences hehehe

Easy booking and check in process. Very affordable without sacrificing hospitality. Very impressive location for the price is hard to beat. I’ve been to every hostel on the beach and have found most of the staff to be rude, entitled jerks. People with a title that they have no business having but in South Beach they can get away with it because a job title is just that not necessarily meaning appropriate pay is given to the people filling these positions. Lucas however was the complete opposite. Taking time to go over every detail of the property without overdoing it. He was helpful, kind and very component at his position. First impressions are everything. As opposed to FHand who give you the impression that they could not care less if you were staying or spending your money with them. Lucas made my business feel appreciated and welcome. He was respectful something that is not so easy to find on the beach anymore. Dare I say Southern Hospitality…… Yeah that’s about the best way to say it. Thank you for an enjoyable stay!

I am a travel writer, and I have visited over 100 countries. I usually stay in luxury accommodations when collaborating with hotels. However, at times I want an actual vacation where I am not working- but then I am paying so I need to find budget accommodations. Finding a place that is affordable but in a good location and where I feel safe can be tough, & sometimes impossible. I found all of that and more at Drifters! I love it here! Imagine being steps from the beach but close to everything. The price is absolutely incredible, and I save even more by cooking my meals here. And most of all, the staff (Mendez, Christina, Stacy and Desmond) have become like family. They are so fun and cool and funny and I really love them. I cannot tell you how much I love it here, probably why I keep extending my stay. Ohhh, ps bonus benefit; the beach bar here has live music at times and it is so lovely!

The mosquitos. What do you want me to say; for this price how can ANYONE complain? You want a/c...go pay $500 a night down the road. My a/c is the cool breeze coming from the ocean a few steps from my room.

I had cereal. Don't like waffles. Would've liked to have bagels

I was cold at night. Wish I had a warmer blanket. And I couldn't walk into the building without giving away 3 cigarettes everytime to others that just stay by the door. They were always nice so not a big deal. Wish I didn't have to pay $30 to park a 10 min walk away. But it did come with free charging for my telsa.

The hostel is very close to the beach and to the Versace Mansion that was one of the places I most wanted to know, so the experience was great. It's also close to a lot of bars, markets, restaurants and clubs. Perfect to do everything walking.

The restrooms still need a better structure specially some shelves or places where we can put our products when we take a shower. The breakfast is not very organized, and the hostel didn't accept my pillow in their locker room for a reason that I didn't understand. So I just paid the same fee in a store next door. Another thing is also the loud music right in the lobby of the hostel, even in the early morning.

I like the location and the staff is wonderful. Living in a shared dorm is often challenging but the other ladies that have been here have been very pleasant.

Recently there was a bed bug outbreak so I checked out and stayed elsewhere for several day and returned once it was taken care of. I wish there was a quiet space to do work, homework etc. I am a student and its often very difficult to concentrate on my work due to the noise levels.

I loved the front desk workers James and Josep. They helped me the whole time that I had trouble. I was trying to wash my clothes and the washer broke so they allowed me to get my two dollars back so I can go get my clothes cleaned somewhere else. Also I loved the breakfast every morning. It was a bit early but I’m glad they gave us some breakfast. The guests were nice. My room air conditioner wasn’t working so well so it made the room smell but I bought air freshener and that solved the problem. Also the hot water didn’t work in the shower but they got it fixed pretty fast for us. Also I’m glad that I could pay for them to hold my bags on the last day. I got to go to the beach before I left for the airport.

Not having a good air conditioner was hard especially when it was so hot in Miami. It was hard to sleep but it wasn’t too unbearable.

Amazing! Near the beach and near Mangos Tropical Cafe! I enjoyed a lot and I’ve met great people there, the staff is great also! I just loved to go to the beach everyday! I stayed in a 4 bedroom female room and I felt safe and made kind friends there. At night we played games together and sing, play the guitar or we went to Lost Weekend to play pool, drinking beer or to Mangos for latin Music partying. Near there is 7 eleven market, pizza, burger king, Cuban restaurant Puerto Sagua, free gym on the beach. There is laundry in the hostel and shared kitchen for cooking. Nice price for great location. Thanks a lot South Beach Hostel for those wonderful days I will always remember!

+amazing value. 40 dollars for a night at the liveliest part of town. +beqch is perfect for swimming with no big waves compared to beach up north. +rooms were quiet and lights were usually off all the time. +bath towel provided but i chose to use my own. If u r traveling to budget hostels anywhere, i recommend having ur own towel, shower things, etc. +also bring ur own lock(most people felt ok leaving their stuff in room but i locked my valuables.) Ariana(checked me out), Hervacio(checked me in), and I think Robert who i spoke to before booking yesterday made me feel welcome and i could focus on enjoying my time and doing my work. I left a small tip for cleaning person under the pillow. I recommend u do the same.

Nothing really bad. U r getting amazing value, and this attracts people who may be taking as much as they can take. First room i was checked into had 3 people but all 6 lockers were occupied by them. I changed rooms before meeting them and had a great stay. U will be charged about 7 dollars fee at the property and booking writes this. I did not mind it but some People were very upset with this. (It is already included in price estimate so u r not paying more.)
