For many visitors the hotel television is not important. However, I spent a great deal of time in the room over my 7 day stay. This Holiday Inn has clearly opted to provide the cheapest television channel package. None of the major channels were available. At least half of the channels simply said 'no signal'. There was no television directory and the stations were misidentified on the screen itself. When I asked the front desk about this, they had no information about the situation and suggested I did not know how to operate a television. Secondly, when I checked in the person at the front desk was very rude. One of the reasons I usually stay at this Holiday inn is because of the friendliness of the staff. I am not sure what has changed since my last stay in March.

The room was quite big, with a very comfortable chair and an office chair as well. There are plenty of places to study, read, watch television and whatever else you like to do. The bed is comfortable with excellent pillows. One of the best things is that this hotel does breakfast, which is not always the case in the US. For $10 you get a very good buffet with better than average bacon, sausages, and orange juice. There's also plenty of fruit, including berries. This was a great bonus. Situation-wise, the hotel is right in downtown Evanston and very close to the Metra and Purple Line.

My room was pretty noisy. I could hear every train very clearly, so the windows weren't doing a great job. There was a slightly musty smell in the room sometimes, but it wasn't that bad.

Pillows and bedding were awesome!!! Location is superior!! Loved the view from my room. Desk staff kindly refunded one night of garage overnight parking which my daughter didn't use. I had stayed there about 15 years ago when it was a Best Western and it is 100% better now!!!!!!!!!

Small things, like the tv remote wasn't synced properly, the Kurig was finicky and the tub stopper didn't release as it should and needed to be pried up around the edges. All in all, minor things.

Good breakfast and convenient parking in downtown Evanston. Nice view from room towards the downtown Evanston while it began to snow in the morning during our stay. We stayed at another hotel in downtown Evanston 1 week later, but it is not as good as Holiday Inn.

A little bit away from the downtown Evanston but still ok within walking distance. The front desk could not find my booking when we arrived late at night, but still arranged a room matching the original request/booking. It was all fixed on the very next morning.

The location was nearly perfect for our visit to Northwestern University for my daughter’s tour. It was only 1/2 mile to the Segal Visitor Center, so we ended up walking for a look around the neighborhood. Beds were also comfortable.

Breakfast was just okay, but the coffee tasted like it had been sitting around for a while and was quite bitter.

We didn't have the breakfast. We thought is was going to be included but there was an extra $10 per person charge.

Parking fee was a surprise. $18 per night in Chicago area is reasonable but we did not know about it ahead of time and the clerk didn't mention the charge when we registered for it.

Place and location are exactly as expected, well placed, near to transportation with lots of good places to eat or ask for delivery. Staff was good. Nothing dramatic to complain.

It's a bit expensive but all the locations in the area with this service level are as expensive. It could use a bit of maintenance on the rooms and elevators.

the chair in my room , the ottoman was stained and needed to be replaced (looked a bit rough and not professional) the heat in my room was too hot, I was not able to sleep very well because the heat kept coming on no nightlight ... can't see from the bathroom to the bed too dark

Great location. Close proximity to Northwestern University and cute shops/dining in Evanston. A quick walk to the Purple line!

The entry requires taking two sets of short flights of stairs. Not a big deal but we had several large suitcases which was cumbersome. No valet service. The handicap elevator didn’t work. Seems like there should be a ramp to the entrance.

Walkable to park, the lake and lots of eating places. We love the beds abd the spa ours from for us to kay down our luggage as we were traveling to multiple places abd had to sor. They had a full breakfast spread

Minor but important: The soap dispenser was not working and nobody noticed it. The cleaner does not check? We improvised by using the shanpoo. We were too on the go to write a note
