We have stayed at The Guest House before and loved it. Excellent location for us we have two sons that live in Back Bay. The French La Voile restaurant downstairs is absolutely wonderful. Then next door Bittersweet Shoppe on Newbury serves breakfast and lunch. Cafe with lovely outdoor seating. We needed a restaurant that would get us in and out in a short amount of time. We try pearl sugar waffle which tasted like heaven and two petite frittatas that were so light and flavorful. Parking was a major plus for us, because it's impossible to fine convenient parking in Boston.

The LOCATION is superb and feels safe for a solo traveler. The young people staffing the hotel reception are eager to exceed expectations. Newbury Street is vibrant, brimming with fun shopping, lots of options for dining, and easy for UBER pickup. The room, albeit tiny, was so comforting, albeit tiny with a comfortable bed/bedding, an operative window overlooking Newbury Street, and the water in the shower is super hot with good water pressure.

It would be helpful to have bedside access to an electrical outlet (for charging a phone or for those who travel with a CPAP/breathing device) ➕ It’s important to be prepared to walk up the outdoor steps from the street into the lobby.

everyone is always welcoming and helpful. The lobby is very comfortable and we love the coffee/teas/waters available all the time. The interiors are a respite from the cold and noise. And the restaurants "attached" are both VERY good. The room was small but well appointed. bed was very comfy. A/C and Heat work great.

the bathroom could have been a bit larger and the hot water was not present on Monday morning... finally got some. just an older building. it was all good

Adorable place, comfortable bed, welcoming staff, amazing location on the prettiest street in Boston. I came for a business layover and will book again in the fall when taking my kids on college tours. Bonus: the French bistro on the ground floor served up a wonderful late night cold dinner when my delayed flight caused me to arrive after the kitchen closed. A really lovely place to land.

Corridors and elevators are a little musty and worn.

I chose the Newbury Guest House because it was a small hotel that wasn’t so ‘corporate’ as all of the big chains. Also because it was in an old building. It was lovely inside, the room we had was ok, if a little smaller than we expected. The bed was comfortable. It’s in a lovely area with plenty of restaurants around it. The staff were all very helpful.

The room was a little smaller than expected & our room didn’t have much to look out on. Our main gripe was the air conditioning pump which groaned on & on all night. As Brits we are not used to this and it was very annoying & did disturb our sleep. I would have like tea making facilities in our room but it worked ok & I understand the reasoning why.

The Newbury Guest House is a charming brownstone in a great location. It is quiet, and close to shops and restaurants. A T station is two blocks away. A Lavazza coffee maker is available in the reception area 24/7. Staff is very welcoming and helpful. I had a spacious king room with a comfortable bed. An excellent place to stay in Boston. Have stayed before and will stay again.

I loved how friendly the staff were and how they were on hand to help at any time of the day. The rooms were also lovely, with extremely comfortable beds and great bathroom facilities. Excellent location in the heart of Boston’s back bay, was lovely to wake up in the morning to a view of the beautiful Newbury street.

you cant beat the location here! There are SOO many shops, cafes, etc surrounding this area. AND for being on a very popular street, it was relatively quiet at night. The room was cozy. No breakfast is provided but they do have nice fancy coffee makers and water machines! Plenty of places round to get coffee and breakfast! The staff were friendly and eager to help. They also were quick to help us with moving our huge rental car around! I definitely recommend calling them ahead of time to make sure you reserve a parking space. If you can rent a smaller vehicle, I would. LOL. Lots of handy places are close by within walking distance. Apple Store, CVS, Prudential Center which has a regular size grocery market called Star Market. I would go there over the nearby Delucas. Its expensive! Lots of stores and shops at Prudential! I would definitely recommend the Newbury guest house to those who want a quaint brownstone experience in Boston!

Gosh, I dont think much to complain about here. The bathrooms are pretty small but then any kind of "in town" living is! One thing I would have loved was enough room to have sitting chairs. Its hard to lean up on beds. We were provided one with a small desk and thats OK for the size room we had. Just a wish for more room I suppose. I would say that with this being a "guest house" it COULD really be nice for the money you are requesting, for this to have a cookie or muffin plate set out in the common sitting room in the morning for a quick snack as people go in and out. its certainly not required for us BUT I think since this feels more like a bed and breakfast place, it would be an especially nice touch!

No breakfast but coffee/tea in lobby, location very good-on fanciest street in Boston full of shops, restaurants and services and room was clean neat and comfortable. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful.

They should provide pastries with the coffee service for those unable to get out immediately in the morning. The back of hotel is on an alley and a little noisy but on the other hand Newbury St is noisy as well. Keep windows closed and A/C on for comfort.

Best location for food and shopping, right in the heart of Newbury Street and only a few minutes walk from the Logan Express. Nearest train station is around a 7-10 minute walk. Great facilities available (coffee machine and nice cozy lobby), with delicious french restaurants next door. Staff are extremely friendly and welcoming.

Construction taking place all through the morning and day made it very noisy at times. Doors are being replaced but those that haven't like ours are hard to open.
