The price was exactly right in this atmosphere of rising costs for lodging (and everything, actually). The rooms were about what we expected: worn furniture, carpets, etc. The room was VERY clean, though, and the location wonderful. Landscaping beautiful, felt safe, there was an ice machine right outside our doors (107 and 108). My relatives stayed in 107 and had toile wallpaper and curtains, while I had plain walls and toile curtains. Their air conditioner worked from the unit and went on right away, while mine worked from a thermostat and required three phone calls to a very cheerful and knowledgeable Christie in Guest Services to help me locate and use the reset buttons on the power cord. Sheets and beds were clean and comfortable, so any lack of the finer points of decor and atmosphere were easily overlooked. I enjoyed the memories of hotels in my youth that the room evoked. We traveled with a dog and the fee was $25 - quite a bargain compared to mainstream hotels! We really enjoyed the breakfast in the Bakery. We sat outside at a table and had a lovely view of gardens and people coming and going from the understandably popular bakery while we drank excellent coffee and ate generous sweet rolls (just like those served in the dining room - yum), tiny blueberry muffins and small squares of coffee cake. I would go back in a minute.

Nothing. So many places that are reasonably priced are really unpleasant and unclean, with smells and tiny shocks to the renter. The fact that these rooms were rated well, though they were cheap, was why we stayed here, and we're glad we did. I would rate it very differently if it cost as much as a decent chain hotel, but I really thought it was a great buy and a nice experience. I would rent again if I found myself in Sturbridge again.

The gardens were exceptional. The facilities great and the food in the restuarant excellent.Even though I have noted the room was super quiet, that was because we were above a wedding. We actually did not mind it at all, but could see where a couple might. We got one of the last rooms so I imagine when they have a wedding they are aware of it and try to sell it with the wedding party or last. We would book the same room. If they could get the help, they should bring back breakfast.

The bed itself is too soft and probably needs updating

The location had several buildings, where the breakfast was obtained at a 1st floor cafe-&-bakery. The building I stayed in, also had its own hot tea center, and an activity area for sitting and reading.

I was visiting with a broken wrist, for which I recently had surgery (in 2023 June), so I had an electric scooter, which was somewhat difficult to get onto sidewalks of the buildings that did not have an accessibility ramp. (Building where check-in occurs did have a ramp, but some buildings did not in 2023 June, when I visited)

Beautiful heritage property in a picturesque setting, about 90 minutes from Boston. I booked this place last minute, as I just needed somewhere to stay on my trip between NYC and Boston. But WOW! I was blown away by how lovely this place was and the delicious baked goods and coffee I was served for breakfast, the beautifully landscaped grounds, and the spacious room with peaceful balcony viewing the forest. Such a great place!

It exceeded ALL of my expectations. Truly spectacular!

Lovely room with a balcony and a view of the Apple Orchard, very spacious. And quiet. Great Bakery and restaurant/tavern on site. Lovely walking around trail, room was immaculate! Desk, bakery and restaurant staff were all lovely.

I would have loved a small fridge and maybe coffee/ tea maker in the room. But having access to it down the hill at the bakery wasn’t the worst inconvenience one could deal with and it was free, and yummy.

This sprawling property is absolutely gorgeous, with lovely gardens and nice landscaping. They seem to do a lot of weddings and catered affairs. We were in the country lodge, which is a little dated, but still reasonably comfortable. A very pleasant place to stroll around on the grounds, and since it is right in the center of the village, it's easy to check out the farm market, etc.

The country lodge area could use some updating. A fridge in the room would have been great, particularly given the hot weather. And the bake shop was so overwhelmed in the morning that we didn't bother with the free breakfast pastries. The system there needs to be straightened out--the young woman working alone couldn't handle all the demands being placed on her. Given how full the hotel was, staff should have been made available to help her out.

Super clean. The Tillyer House is in brand-new condition. The pristine brick and granite walkways fit the historic buildings beautifully. The plantings are beautiful! The comfortable rooms were joined by doorways--perfect for our family of six.

Complimentary bakery item was good but small compared to the others available for sale. Sad that the Publick House restaurant or tavern are not open for breakfast.

The room was spacious and quiet. The pasteries for breakfast were wonderful -fresh from the on property bakery.

So parts of the room were run down. There was a worn and threadbare chair, the lighting fixture and hinges in the bathroom were rusty. Also there were knots bleeding through the paint which I don't think were there as a rustic effect. Wish there was a refrigerator since we were traveling

The entire grounds were beautiful and it was a delight to stay there. The price for the room was incredibly inexpensive. The staff was friendly throughout The dinner at the hotel restaurant was superb and greatly affordable. And the sweet rolls all homemade offered as part of the stay for breakfast topped everything off.

It was all done well.

The historical feel of the facility was more than what we expected. Our waitress at dinner was exceptional. Her name was April. Landscaping was beautiful!!! The Bakery was over the top great.

We were in room 5 in the main Publick House. The bathroom door didn't come close to shutting. Being a carpenter of over 50 years, it would only take a half hour to cut the door down so it would shut. I could see it hasn't shut in a long time. I'm sure there have been other complaints before ours.
